Advent of the God-Harem King [Highschool DxD/Exalted] (CLOSED)

Be careful there, you're edging into History Channel territory.
Not really. I'm making no claims to it being more correct or real. Only that it's more fun.

Edit: Seriously. It's like complaining because someone calls an F-22 a "super-sonic stealthed air superiority fighter" rather than a "plane". Both are accurate. One is just more specific about it, and, in certain circles, more fun.

Gilgamesh isn't a magician, first of all. Second, saying Gilgamesh has one so we should have one too is shit logic because Gilgamesh has everything, including things that shouldn't exist because they're unspeakably stupid -- like ancient Babylonian spaceships. Third, we are a long fucking way from being any kind of Elder Solar. And fourth, it's a stupid idea in general.

That we're even having this discussion makes me want to start my own Solar!Issei quest and make you work with just your Exaltation. No magical mentors, no Sacred Gears, no cheat codes and no free stuff, just your charms and your wits.
Just a nitpick, but Vimana isn't an ancient Babylonian spaceship, it's an ancient Indian spaceship, and an actual myth.

Gilgamesh has it because his legend has some kind of conceptual link with human progress, giving him an "ideal version" of any weapons forged by humans throughout history. The historical Gilgamesh in the Nasuverse didn't have it, much like the historical Iskandar didn't keep his army in a Reality Marble.

No, historical Gilgamesh lived during historical Babylon, which in the Nasuverse was some kind of precursor civilization that had nukes and spaceships and things. Like I said, it's bullshit that we don't need to be imitating.

From what I saw of the alternate settings

Gunstar autchthonia: Reminds me of Battlestar Galactica, and that genre of ScFi, also it has elements of Macross. (The setting I find most interesting.)

Heaven Reach: Has elements of WH40K but it is Lighter and Softer.

Burn Legend: Reminds me of Kenichi, Avatar (not the movie with the blue aliens.) and other stories, it adds a lot of Martial Arts.

The Moder Age: Modern Fantasy, with conspiracies.

The Book ads Drive, and Firearms as abilities.

It is Ok, Kinglugia I was the one with the fault of almost making a Flamewar.

Some interesting 3e-isms.

Silver Voiced Nightengale Style is an old martial art which gains new use. It's combat performance, and it does things like buff your allies and attack your enemies with the sound of your voice, be it kiais or power chords or whatever you like as long as it's musical. In theory, investing in this style means that Issei singing the Oppai Dragon Song at the top of his lungs is an effective and dangerous tactic.

Performance still doesn't make sense to me as the ability you use for sex and seduction but apparently the devs think otherwise because there are now two sex and seduction Performance charms -- Thousand Courtesan Ways, which is your seduction tool, and Celestial Bliss Trick, which makes you such an awesome roll in the sack that the target gains an intimacy of lust towards you for (essence) weeks afterwards, plus granting (essence) automatic successes on social actions against that character for the rest of the scene.

Evocations give interesting new ways to model the power-ups of Boosted Gear, so maybe I'll let you keep it and dumb down the powers you get to non-broken levels.

Volcano Cutter's set of Evocations seem like they'd work for the dragon powered Boosted Gear
Maybe some of them, but BG's powers would need to have custom effects, starting with something like Boost and Gift and moving up through Balance Breaker and Trident and stuff. Maybe something like a Form charm, where you commit motes to gain conjured artifact armor with some special effects like flight magic for the rest of the scene.

The biggest problem with doing an Exalted!Issei quest is that 3e is out and that's what I want to use, but 3e mechanics are illegal to post until the game is officially released. So it would have to be mechanics-lite or totally narrative-based, and I would need to figure out how to model a Solar's abilities without the use of mechanics.

There was a Fic which was exalted based, but had nothing in terms of mechanics, not even stating the names of techniques. It was an Evangelion fic...

Aha! Found it! Cast in Gold.

So it is possible, just hard.

When is the official release scheduled to happen, by the way?

Maybe.

Possibly what I could do is emphasize a quest-long theme that superior skill can make up for a lack of power, and your charms give you fluff abilities that you have to use skillfully to overcome the superior power levels of your enemies. So instead of the mechanics everything comes down to stunting and players coming up with clever strategies that make good use of their talents and charms.

Sometime before summer, I think. The book is going through art and layout now, hopefully by April the kickstarters will recieve their PDF copies for the last run of proofreading, then we'll have an official release in... May, possibly.

Okay, I got a mod ruling from elgee. Mechanics are fine as long as there's no copy-pastes straight from the text. I'm also allowed to answer requests for the pdf by PM, but I can't give links in public threads or direct links by PM, it has to be directions on how to track it down yourself.

I think I'm gonna do this.

I have been updating the trope page for this quest, I am asking for help to keep the page updated, I have already put the awesome, nightmare fuel, funny, and heartwarming pages.

Thank you Smuthunter for making the trope page for the quest.

Seems that, His Divine Lunar Presence, from the Heaven's Reach Shard, may appear in E3.

Wait- E3 is bringing back Brawl? Why?
In 2E martial arts charms were underpowered because they were balanced with the assumption that everyone would use them. Solar Hero Style wasn't just the Solar martial arts tree, it was also something that Dragonbloods and Celestials could take too, so it had to be balanced for their use and as a result it was by far the weakest Solar combat tree. 3e Solar Brawl, on the other hand, kicks ass and takes names in single combat.

3e martial arts are broken up into Brawl charms and Martial Arts charms, and MA charms have some new restrictions like requiring a merit (backgrounds) and extra skill investment. Personally I'm going to house-rule that away since it's an annoyance, but the logic is that in exchange for jumping through some extra hoops martial arts are now really powerful and you can buy them with Solar EXP, which essentially cuts their cost in half.
