General chat thread

Got my leg injured. Boss was nice enough to tell me to work from home until it is fixed.

This is going to suck. I don't have any friends nearby, and I don't feel safe alone at home while injured. The pain is the least of my problems.

On lighter news, at least now I have time to finish that depressing Russian novel.

Hmm... I just found a channel on YouTube that's posting text to speech Spanish translations of shitty fanfics, and I don't know how to feel.

At first, I felt amused disbelief that shitty fanfics (that I recognize) are on YouTube, before I saw there view count. The most popular ones have 4k views (though it's 4 months old, so a lot of it is probably relistens), which feels... weird.

Like, I've contextualized 4k views as nothing on YouTube, but I've also cemented that fanfics are pretty niche. Is 4k a lot? Not a lot? I don't know anymore.

It's also pretty interesting to see the view counts of the videos, cause it's as close to a real time window into fanfic analytics as I'm going to get.

Of course, because it's shitty fanfics, the ones that appeal to the lowest denominator are the most viewed. Like, a fate/gate crossover has 2k views on the first video, than a couple hundred on the last one.

Or a "cast reacts to multiverse of x character" fic which starts at 1k views and ends at 100 or so views.

Hell, they even did the games we play! Which, unsurprisingly, didn't do well and only maintained a hundred views throughout it.

It's fascinating.

P.S. I'm not well versed in this site's rules. Is it okay to post a link to the channel?

Pretty scale put someone I know at 91%. Don't know whether to be amused or annoyed at the judgement, because the person is crazy.

Perhaps take the third option and just keep feeding in anime pics for the lolz.

Concrete and windshields do not mix.
I've had this happen to me three times. Once with a piece of concrete that 'fell' from a bridge. Once a butcher knife fell out of a pick up of someone who was moving, and once with a piece of ice. I had a friend loose 2 fingers when he was driving with his hand out the window from insects of all things, and I saw a dog that had it's head out the window get killed by a piece of concrete. This is far more dangerous than people who don't make a living on the road realize.

The hotter they are, the crazier. What's life without a little crazy? Just make sure to hide any pets... don't let her know you have a car... hell dont give her your address at all actually and you're fine!

...it's a dude. That's why I found it hilarious. A dude got a higher rating than many famous beauties of Hollywood and....other places*.

Neoteny does wonders for the face, it seems.

*not porn

That's a complete myth.

The ugly ones are every bit as crazy, they're just better at hiding it. Because they have to be.
How a woman looks is irrelevant. How they think they look matters. Women who don't think they look good will try harder in bed. Poor self image = keeper. :p

Is there a site, thread, or whatever, to help find the source music of samples used in other songs? A Flamingosis mixtape came out a couple of months ago, and I want to find the sampled songs but I don't know where to look.

Hey, so I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, and it's a little awkward since I've been on here for a bit now, but...

What do different name colors signify? What does following someone do?

I tried finding information on that here on the site, but was unsuccessful. I figured following someone would alert you whenever they create a new thread or something, but that doesn't seem to be the case after some observation.

And while I assume that different name colors probably have something to do with mod status, there's no legend anywhere to explain them that I could find, either.

I'd be grateful if someone could enlighten me! :D
Which includes just pointing me towards the place where all that information is and making me feel silly for having missed it, if that's all it takes.

Donations and/or mod status. Green and Orange as I understand are actually related to whether you've made a one off or recurring donations, and I believe there is another color for super mods?

Something like that.

Orange-yellow is a subscription donation, green is a normal donation, bluish-green is moderator, dark-ish red is administrator.
I don't know about Following someone. I'm pretty sure it at least gives you an Alert when they post a new thread, but I don't know if it gives one for every post they make.

Thank you two!

That does indeed explain the colors quite nicely. Though I didn't even know there was a donation thingy. I assume that means money is decent, or I'm just blind to the relevant banner or something.

I guess I'll keep watching in regards to the Following and thread alerts. I thought I was following someone before at least one of their newest threads was made, but maybe I'm just mixing up the dates. Not like there's any downside to keep following, so I'll just leave it as is and hope that I'll get alerts in the future.
Thanks for the answers again!

Click on your username at the top of the page, "Account Upgrades" is the donation section.

I don't have anybody followed myself so I don't know exactly what it shows, but on the alerts page sidebar there's something labeled "Your News Feed" that has to do with people you follow.

Just received over 9 pounds of various herbs and spices which I didn't order.

I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, so my culinary adventures are going to be much more spicy from now on.
Come on, man, someone paid for that. You should tell Amazon about it.
