General chat thread

I am looking for video games to play on my laptop, specifically when disconnected from internet. I would prefer games that have a variable pace, not a game where you necessarily need fast reflexes. I also like retro pixel art like you may see in older games.

Any recommendations?

Noita has retro-feeling art and runs great on my laptop. Does require some reflexes, it's somewhat like a side-scroller.

Otherwise, its procedurally thrown-together tinder box of ingredients - of fire and poison and explosives - can go up in any number of ways at any moment, either through your doing or an enemy's, or just by happenstance. It's wonderful to watch and perilous to play.
This review I found of Noita sounds glorious. I shall read more reviews and maybe download it.

If you don't like RNG, Noita is cancer.

As long as you know what you're getting yourself into.

Good luck.

Alright, somebody tell me, just how good Cult of the Lamb actually is?

And, should I Buy it full price or wait for a sale?

Got a question for everyone. What's the best place to put a "diary" of your thoughts online? Like just a rant or such and then put it there to publish, if you want, later. Just want to rant in a box. That's why.

Probably Tumblr. There's no character limit.
Alternatively, use Google Docs, type long strings of consciousness into word files (one or more), then share a Twitter/Tumblr/Discord/this website post that has a viewer link to that document.

Tumblr is more likely to be seen by more people, though.

Post it on SpaceBattles, in the Worm creative writing section, and have Warlord Skitter react to your blog posts.

"Slightly esoteric text tricks" implies the existence of "Very esoteric text tricks". If you have the time, would you care to enlighten me? Please?
I... don't even know if this site can run any of them.

... Fiddled around with mousover for a few minutes... can't seem to make even that relatively simple trick work...

That's ok, just give me appropriate links to websites, or the names of advanced concepts. I can figure out the rest myself if I have a starting point.

I think my phone has officially reached the end of its life today. It has loyally served me for a good 5 years, and now it won't start, nor properly charge anymore. Rather than just charging when turned off, it shows the battery percentage, then it boots up, so that the LG screen shows up, then it shuts down again, only to repeat the process. I know it's probably silly to feel sentimental over a phone, but there are a good few memories attached to it.

It has been ailing for the last few months, randomly shutting down and heating up for no apparent reason, but it managed to carry itself into the new year, before now seemingly giving up the ghost. I'll head out and see if my local repair shop can maybe do anything, like maybe there's just some slight problem with the battery that's easily fixed, and I'm worrying about nothing, but I fear this might be the end for it.

To say my day has just turned to shit at 8 AM would be an understatement.

On the shuttle to work I overheard some people in the department next to mine saying they were planning on gaslighting the sous chef by looking just above his right eye and making a baffled face every time they talk to him pretending like there is something stuck there and making him really self-conscious.

Ultimately I decided not my department, not my problem and I don't know what their beef is but I was tempted for a moment to inform the sous chef on what was going to happen.
Is there any good recommendation for Android Browser besides Chrome that have built-in Incognito Mode?

I just don't want to deal with the abudance of history search bars that gonna come out everytime I tried to search something.
Firefox Focus is a version of Firefox that is always incognito.

I think you should, as covertly as possible, tell the chef being targeted by this behavior. Then they can hopefully address or ignore what is happening on their own terms. The specific behavior may not be "that bad", but the intent is very messed up. HR would be a pain, but warning the person feels like a good idea.

Though maybe ask the aforementioned chef to not mention you doing this to others. That seems like the most moral action without taking excess heat.
