I pretty sure I remember learning that the Internet was supposed to be decentralized so that taking it down in its entirety was an impossibility.

It's concerning that it has happened twice, big chunks of it anyways, in recent memory. First the Amazon web service and now Cloudflare.

Red Flags seem to be popping up more than ever these days

It was.

Back in 2001 on 9/11 in downtown Manhattan I saw the phone networks go down (centralized infrastructure, easily overloaded) while the primitive email & chat & message programs on TCP/IP kept working perfectly -- I was helping students connect with their out-of-town parents to let them know they were okay.

Back when the core infrastructure was public, the networks were robust, as any node could route traffic around damage like the network had been designed to do in the first place. Independent, public infrastructure can be uncorrelated in terms of system maintenance & defect impact. But now that the core infrastructure is private, it can't do that. The private company will never route traffic away to a potential competitor, and its own servers are all highly correlated in terms of defect impact.

Private infrastructure is fragile, like the 2001 telephone networks.
 
I have something specific to ask:

Does anyone have that thing where you sometimes wake up in the morning, but are not fully awake, nor fully asleep, so you just lie there, probably drooling into your pillow, while some random-ass music plays on repeat in your head?

It usually ends when you fall asleep again for a few minutes, but I wanted to know anyway.

It's not a dream, it's not sleep paralysis either, it's something else, I feel. Had it happen to me a few days ago, which made me think about it.

Yea, happens all the time. Sometimes when i fall back asleep I manage to continue with the dream I had going before.

Or at least that's my experience. My "brain music" gravitates to Nickelback for some reason.

I'm pretty sure there was a MHA fic titled something like My Bastard Academia about a student mc with a quirk that lets his body adapt to various things but it can't keep up with the power creep of canon and the mc starts to get really stressed over it.
More distinctive parts I remember are him starving himself to need less food, fucking Mirko and his dick adapting due to the snu snu and him taking a nude pic of his gf in the first chapter before he takes her virginity.
I think Bukharin wrote it but i can't find it.

I remember that too, is Quirk was that he adapted so that whatever caused him distress would become easy, like in the first chapter mentioning how the second time he would have sex with his GF he would have become really great at it thanks to his Quirk.

And he also was a twat, obviously.
