Governor's Gambit - Star Wars SI into Imperial Governor

Kind of want to see thrawn's reaction to the organization program that he received

Thrawn may well be ecstatic, especially if the organization program(s) increase his work efficiency when analyzing datasets. I think Thrawn may well want to get more information on the star system and governor who had these innovations made.

TftC!

I like the way this is going so far, but I won't lie, it's a little kick in the nuts every time I see direct references to things like the High Republic or Rebels. I mean, I get using certain things from Disney canon like some of the ships and locations, and maybe even some characters, but every time we get another bit of confirmation that this is set in that timeline, it makes it a little bit harder to continue. There's nothing interesting or compelling coming in that timeline, just blandness and abject stupidity from all sides, all eventually culminating in the Sequel Trilogy. It's all just so... blah.

Back when I thought this might be set in Legends, I was hyped thinking about what position Las might be in when shit goes down after Endor, and the various scrambles for power and civil wars that follow, where we can see his hard work pay off in a big way. But in the Canon timeline, there's none of that. Just an Empire that dies with a whimper after barely putting up a token fight, and a New Republic whose leadership devolves into a pack of mouth-breathing imbeciles the moment things swing in their favor, which lasts right up until a bunch of dead-enders come around and vaporize their pitiful attempt at galactic governance. All the heroes turn out to be useless failures, everything they fought for and everything they built just turns to shit. Just thinking about it depresses the fuck out of me.

The only saving grace is that it's possible that Las can become a big enough deal to avert some of the worst of that, and maybe even create some kind of future for that timeline where there currently is none. But honestly this doesn't feel like that kind of story, and I have a feeling that's not where this is going.

Thinking of stopping posting on SV, well if you do go ahead with it then at least drop a 'Continuing this fic on XXX sites' as a courtesy.

Yeah that site is for video "research". So i don't think posting story would do any good. They have "entertaining research" for free though.

Epic to see another chapter!

As for Sufficient Velocity, well it wouldn't hurt to keep posting chapters there. Reader interaction may be low, but from the look of it Spacebattles and QQ here can cover for that.

Also, wanted to know whether or not it's worth it to continue to post on Sufficient Velocity, and instead just stick to SpaceBattles and Questionable Questing. I rely on reader commentary to improve my writing, understand the lore better, and in general guide the story in a way I find interesting. I don't get more than 4-5 comments on a chapter over on SV, and I'm not sure if it's worth it to post there. Let me know what you think.
SufficientVelocity is a crapshoot if what you want is useful reader commentary.

On the upside, they strike the best balance between encouraging commentary and telling people not to be assholes IMO.

On the downside, they self-insert into fucking everything, to a degree that even QQ doesn't quite match - which means that all disagreements turn some shade of dishonest and mean-girl after more than a couple posts, if not earlier.

QQ may self-insert harder by way of explicit NSFW encouraging sexual writing, but they ironically self-insert less often.

Ultimately, do it if you want to, but don't be surprised or disheartened if it turns out to be a waste of time.

Chapter 18. I personally rarely visit space battles or velocity. Wrong kind of culture there. Seeing as i am a libertarian/ republican. You know one of them conservative, hetero/ except when multiple girls are involved. Where i have found that the internet proctor. Is rather on the liberal side.
So i like to read stuff similar to John Ringo who writes a lot of gun porn. Example Through the Looking Glass. David weber, heavy sci fi and politics. example the Harrington series. Or political and military science fiction like Colonel Tom Kratman. Those publish authors stories wouldn't be allowed on the websites. Because they would likely be to hetero. Or hold opinions that would clash with the websites management. We would be considered to low brow, uneducated, Jingoest Mermadins. You know the type of people who do not matter.

I know space battles has issues with deleting stories if the writer holds a political opinion that the management dislikes. There was also a big whoo haa about treating women like garbage. From space battles. They really talked down to women with conservative values. Which i have no idea about that demographic. However it was an issue.

Velocity i dont know too much about. I just know i was banned the same day i got on with them. Which i only had I think one or two comments with them. I have heard similar stuff about there management and policies. I think the use ability of there web page is better than space battles. However i found i like scribble hub better than Velocity.

Qq has started to become my go to web browsing page. With rrl and scribble hub. I have a few others i touch on but honestly. Those three are my favorites.

I was hoping with the police was going through p diddy stuff that space battles management personal would be entangled. I figured there was a good chance. The web page hasn't gone done. So i guess they haven't been raided.

for the emperor wives reference. I kind of think he could do some stress shoping. If he likes powerful women. I bet he likes to dress them up in edgy yet delightful armor. I am a bit of a women in military uniform fetish guy myself. Plus drawing up then highering some craftsmen. Who can make workable but stupid gun designs +body armor. that could make a statement. Don't know what statement. Don't really care. Hot chicks with big guns and armor.

I think it's forgivable to stop updating on SV, as long as you don't replace it with The Sietch, which is the farthest right of all the fanfic sites (SV being the farthest left, SB being Center-Left, and AH being Center-Right). The Sietch is a wretched hive of scum and villainy, full of white supremacists and MAGA idiots. Lot's of cries of "Deus Vult!" and "Hitler wasn't so bad!"

Rule 8 warning. This conspiracy crap will not on QQ. Do not ever bring that kind of topic on QQ again. Post deleted.

Holy crap that was legends... i want the mc to battle for supremacy in that universe. Ahh, i only watch one disney movie and parts of others. I always walked out.

Oh, two of those i never heard of. What is sietch, and AH. And are we talking alignment of family values? Such as conservative would be. Right side alignment. I can say it in front of my kids and not be embarrassed. to far left were people should arrest that person if they have kids? Because you know those poor kids are getting passed around like party favors at a drug den.
Yeah, that was stupid and incoherent enough to earn you a pat on the back on The Sietch.

What is The Sietch? Fucking Google it, I'm not your mum. AH is alternatehistory.net, but they have a thriving fandom section too. Their mods are pretty draconian though, and SV's althist community mostly are people who were banned over there.

Also, seriously? Triple-posting may not be against site rules, but show some class. Ignored.

I think I mentioned this briefly in one of my authors notes in the earlier chapters, but I plan on a mix of legends and canon. While I agree that Disney canon is just kinda mid, especially with the sequel trilogy just being a remake of the OT when they could have made more interesting new plots, I think that some of the ideas and designs are cool, and I want to incorporate them. Like, if I ever get this story to a post-empire state, then I plan for having both the First Order(because I like their design) and the Empire of the Hand. Why? Cause I think at one point old palps would look at Thrawn and think 'that guy has too much power' and make a cult hideaway empire that is less logical and more Sith cultist. That's just one example, I have other plans and the like. But rest assured, it won't all be canon.

I concur.

There's some very good ideas I've seen in Canon that could've been used interestingly instead of rehearsing Episode IV to VI and I doubt Palpy wouldn't have contingency plans for his Empire consider how he made so self-sabotaging and competitive that he definitely had plans for those within the Empire have power, like Thrawn.

That existed it was the Dark Empire.

We don't know what the plan for after endor is, and we're not even close to seeing endor. The battle of endor takes place 5 years after yavin, and we're roughly 6 years out from that. We have alot of potential story to see before the warlords era.

I do think this story will eventually incorporate more legends stories, it's gonna take some time though. I think we will get a warlords era, and it will be amazing.

Besides, this the year (in cannon) that Thrawn gets kidnapped by space whales. I doubt that's gonna happen though. We're probably gonna see an au version of events (,if it even happens at all).

I'm very much enjoying your story mainly due to your characters and the fact your pacing is very realistic for the MC's situation.

At most, the only thing I'd like to see improved is talking about more legends era ships classes.
When looking for reinforcements getting newer Imperial stuff would be great but stuff like a Dreadnought class heavy cruiser is more likely for our backwater system or maybe concentrate on better starfighters.

If you are looking for interesting new ship designs I'd recommend checking out the Star Citizen wiki since they have a lot of interesting designs for all types of ships.

Even besides all that, Palpatine HATES the idea of an even vaguely defined armed force that doesn't answer to him. I have no trouble believing he would immediately come down on something like that hard. And word WILL get back to him, a Planetary Governor creating a line of droid starfighters and bombers is the kind of news that spreads FAST. It doesn't need to reach Palpatine himself directly, it only needs to reach ONE agent he has in the Outer Rim.

Plus there's a big part of logistics people are ignoring here; the droid brains. Those things need a LOT of advanced programming to function properly to function at their best. People talk about how they're so cheap and easy to make because the CIS seemed to have infinite numbers of them.... but they were ALREADY making them in bulk, and had a mind-boggling industrial and economic base by the time of the Clone Wars. A single Planetary Governor doesn't have the money or resources to replicate the industry and specialists to replicate that.
Palpatine has already won. He won everything he ever wanted. The jedi are dead. The Republic is now the Empire. He has the chosen one as his "apprentice".

He can do anything the black hole where his heart is wants to do and so long as he controls the death star then he doesn't really care. The death star is his I win button. And he wants people to rebel. The more that rebel the more control he can implement and the more he can crack down on people and the more suffering he can cause.

That's why the rebellion hasn't been totally wiped out. He wants an opponent he can fight so that he has something to do. If more people rebel the happier he is.

Yeah, I'm glad @Freefaller took the time to clarify that point. I must have missed that AN he mentioned. I just get nervous when I see repeated mentions of stuff like the High Republic and Thrawn being on or around Lothal. It's one thing to see a few Disney-only ships, locations, or even characters; those get ported into Legends fics all the time these days, since they are some of the few things Disney produced that most fans actually like. But when major Disney-only plot points start cropping up it triggers Sequel flashbacks, and I start wondering whether I should bail before I get too invested.

I think with Darna soon or later the rebels need to assassinate her or attempt to assassinate her because she's a loose link that is very dangerous for them because the fact she is refusing to join back up with them will leave the idea in them that she is liable to defect and get them killed so I do think they would plan to kill her
