I have a feeling the MC would do well to review these should he decide to go the business route. They are surprisingly adaptable for the usual Star Wars economic and political environment.

I thought story set in time period about 3 Years bby?

How strong rebelion was at that time?
Depending on what canon we are using. There is no organized rebellion this early on, there are a series of groups around certain senators who are preparing. Or there are adventuring parties (with and without former Jedi/force users) running around causing trouble.

It is not until Starkiller (Vader's dark Jedi youngling apprentice) brings the major heads together to combine their efforts, that the Rebellion we see in the movies (both canons) show up.

Also it is not specifically stated with the timeline but a good guess would be within 10 years of the Death Star going kaboom over Yavin. (Depending on the sources you had 10-20 years from the formation of the Empire to the events of Episode 4 then an unknown amount of time until Endor, assumed to be within 5-10 years, then either several months or decades to the fall of Coursant and the formation of the Mew Republic and official fall of the Empire into its successor states. Then about 10-20 years before the Vong showed up for a several year war. Then a few years of rebuilding before another war was started between Jedi and fallen Jedi, cycle repeats as more authors added in more event to base their books off of). Note that the MC claims his mother moved him when he was 10 to Eriadu for the Imperial Academy, with his current age being near 20, that puts in this time period. The 2 years is his mother's countdown. Author didn't specify if BBY was in 2 years. Besides how would he know it's not like the BBY reset the Imperial or Republican calendar in use when it occurred.

In Lucas' canon the Imperial SD program was tens of thousands strong across most of the galaxy, not including the millions of support craft and escorts and fighters or garrison commands. In Disney, they shrunk this enormously to the point most people wonder how they managed to keep anything under their heel with how little they had.

With respect to the Lucas's version of the Rebellion they were always a small force (several dozen - hundreds of ships, spread across the galaxy). In Disney they are attempting to build up a power base and recruit an army and naval forces comprised of whatever they can grab, borrow, or steal. Keep in mind in Disney a lot of these more civilian and transport aligned ships are constantly moving around for actual jobs to bring in food, fuel, resources, credits, etc. to support their individual ships (cells) and the greater fleets in general. The greater fleet are mostly under the banner of former Republic senators, commanders, or current Imperial Senators, etc. These are the ones we see at the table on Rogue One movie.

With the technology of Star Wars and the politics of the republic and empire both, there is a reason most systems are one step removed from city's and towns that look like something out of the Wild West. Because the core wants it that way.

More accurate that the Core wants agriculture imports and raw material imports from everyone not them and for said exporters to buy their manufactured goods. Lucas based the original Galactic economy off a hodgepodge of the Colonial economic system and corporate greed.

... that's pretty easy to discover for him.

He only needs to look for Senator ( or former senator ) Bel Iblis.

If he was a General during the Clone Wars, he is in the original EU. If he was an admiral, he is in Disneyland
He was an Admiral in the CORSEC in some of the older games (Lucas), just as an fyi. In other stories he was married to the dictat of Corellia and held the position of basically the commander in chief of her armies so would have been Admiral and General interchangeably. Also appears as special representative in the Republic and Imperial Senate in some books.

A better way to find out would be to see how many ISD's there are in the Imperial Navy, if it is an absurdly low number you are in Disney, if it is a large number (as would be needed for a Empire maintaining order through force across hundreds of thousands of star systems (hundreds of thousand ISDs alone) then you are in Lucas or Legends. And this means you get to play with the Vong and what can basically be described as Germany (prior to Napoleon) afterwards with everyone and their mother waging war on one another afterwards.

Since we still have a few years until canon, we can take Luke Skywalker under our wing.

Why do people keep bring up star killer that guy has literally never been cannon to anything. And by 3 bby the rebels had become the rebel alliance

Depends what Legend books you consider canon.
Star killer isn't cannon in legend he never was, he solo exists in the game universe.

He's like talion in the shadow of war games he exist to be a overpowered player insert for fun, he was never written to be in the actual story

He shows up in a few of the legends graphic novels and comic strips. Like I said it depends on what one would consider canon. Again he didn't exist before that game.

edit:

Looks like one of my prior comments mentioning this in detail and the various debates between book, comics, and games isn't on here anymore. So will end this discussion topic with that.

Also @Freefaller have to say at least his mother planned ahead. If he screwed up on his backwater governor posting, and caused an armed revolt. She already had a backwater planet to send him to in the infantry which would likely ensure his death in glorious police action.

She didn't even have to waste credit on transportation, he is already there. lol.

Minda System Patrol Craft Idea's New
Hi there everyone, just wanted y'alls opinion on this. There are a variety of great anti-piracy patrol craft, but the cost varies(some are technically free), as does effectiveness, crew requirements, etc...

So I'm going to toss my top picks down here for y'all to discuss, along with links for each one. I'd open it for voting, but I have no idea how that works. Feel free to comment your own ideas though. Always looking for feedback!

Marauder-Class Assault Corvette

Raider I-Class Corvette

CR90 Corvette

Imperial Customs Corvette

IR-3F-Class Light Frigate

Lancer-Class Frigate

EF76 Nebulon-B Escort Frigate

Imperial II-Class Frigate

Tartan-Class Patrol Cruiser

Carrack-Class Light Cruiser

If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them. I'm always combing over the replies to see what's new and what y'all are saying.

Thanks for reading!

-Freefaller

Wait a second, depending if this is canon or eu there may be more then a few Jango Fett clones out of the job out there, as in canon the Empire ditched the clones not long after the war, though in eu it wasn't till after the Clone rebellion where the Empire started using birth born recruits and other genetic temples along side the Fett clones

Nebulone thing, i thought it was an originally an imperial ship, but rebels stole the design and cut the corners? For mass production . Like literally.

Or that is fanon. I think i have seen its imperial analogue once, or twice on the internet?

Gotta go with the lancer frigate. Shit was so scary to the rebels that whenever one showed up, rebel pilots would figuratively and literally shit bricks. Shit had fucking Wedge I'm gonna blow up your Star Destroyer solo Antilles shaking in his boots when one dropped out of hyperspace. Not cheap but very good at its job.

Link to metaNerdz Lore video about the ship.

I would suggest the Arquitens-class light cruiser as they are widely used by the empire.

The Lancer's a wonderful AA vessel, but it does have its drawbacks- including a very heavy cost. So if you ever get any, they'd be more likely to tag along with larger ships as an escort or sit in orbit to defend.

For heavier ships, Nebulons and Carracks would be quite good picks, while for the lighter vessels... Tartans, Raider-Is, and CR-90s (or even CR-92a's if you want to go that route) would work.

Also, while not mentioned on the list, DP-20s are fun little balls of speed and heavy firepower.

The Consular class 'cruiser' really a corvette thats on the way out and older but just the thing for a low priority backwater with no juice would get.

The Raider is too new for us to have any real chance of getting one but the Marauder-Class Assault Corvette is the best all rounder corvette. I would also pick up two IR-3F-class light frigates for use by an independent planetary police force. Establishing an independent force will give you more control and relieve the navy of the need to conduct customs inspections and all the other jobs customs has to take care of freeing up assets for other tasks. The IR-3F-class light frigates tiny crew requirement is also a big bonus.

Tartan cruiser reporting!

Based purely off my experiences in empire at war I'd have to say the lancer and tartan. The lancer might be a tad expensive but it fucking wrecks literally any fighter and the tartan is similar

Yeah the Empire has great heavy hitting capital ships and a Lancer patches up their most glaring weakness. Fantastic synergistic effect.

The Marauder's have tractor beams. So having a few of those and access to some real Tug ships, then the MC could possibly grab the trashed Venator and other Clone Wars era ships. Those could be dropped off at a spaceport / ship maintenance facility or orbital station which would allow for salvaging any intact bits or even starting repairs/reconstruction. The CIS ships might be salvageable or in partially repairable condition which might be useful. Having those converted into freight / cargo ships and the weapons mostly removed should make them usable. The salvaged weapons systems could then be installed on some orbital space stations.

Building some orbital shipyard / maintenance facilities should be a good long term investment. I mean having the ability to do some maintenance work on larger ships would be very useful, once the Galactic civil war gets really hot. It might also keep Darth Vader from choking the MC/SI governor for being incompetent / corrupt. Now the reason I mention Vader is that the Force seems to love drama, and thus the SI may well turn into the Force's new squeaky toy for the next little while. Potentially Mara Jade might show up to poke around.

Though, here's a suggestion. Don't get too many big ships. The MC doesn't want the Imperial Intelligence Bureau to think he's going to try and carve out a fief for himself. Keeping things to smaller anti-starfighter / anti-pirate ships with some tractor beams should help with that. Though it's also a decent idea to start construction on some actual orbital shipyards / shipdocks which could do full on constuction of ships. Along with building the orbital factory or moon based factory complexes to build the components necessary to build full ships. The component factories could do a decent business of selling useful ship components for ship repair locally along with selling components / ship systems to larger systems with shipyards. That should probably convince the MC's mommy dearest that he's working hard to make this backwater star system a more successful one.

TftC!

Good pick for a backwater, reliable design in the gray zone of law enforcment/bounty hunter craft that are almost as good as military stuff but not quite

Raider class corvette
Too high tech for a backwater gicen that it was a spec ops favourite

Designed by corellians meaning it is a modular design with A LOT of after market modifications, relatively common, workhorse of the rebellion due to it's availability and capability meaning it might attract some rebel scum who would like to make their fleet bigger due to the isolated & poorly defended nature of the system

Imperial Customs Corvette
Much like other craft marked to be a "customs" thing the chances are they are exclusively used by the Imperial Office of Customs and you probably won't see one in the middle of nowhere since that's not where taxable ships/smugglers travel

IR-3F-Class Light Frigate
Haven't heard about it before you brought it up but it is probably similar to it's successor which i did hear about so i'd say that this seems like a plausible option for MC to consider since due to the lack of a hyperdrive it'd be harder to steal this one and the low crew requirements would allow for more of them to be fielded in the future

Lancer-Class Frigate
Since this one was designed to counter the CIS swarm tactics it means it has a high chance of making the rebels reconsider any moves they might make on the system while also being viewed as an undesirable posting (giving you a chance to introduce a new "competent but somehow ended up in the middle of nowhere due to office politics" character, we know it will be a woman and we know she will form an alliance with Veers' daughter, give up and write the lewds) due to the lack of turbolasers and general contempt many commanders showed to this specialized design

EF76 Nebulon-B Escort Frigate
From what i remember about them and the fact we only see them in the stripped down versions the rebels use i think it was a failed design only used by the rebels since they manged to find a lot of them at a scrapyard and "liberate" them so it might either be implausible or handed to MC as a subtle slight/sabotage due to the problems the design might have had

Imperial II-Class Frigate
Seems like a good capital/command ship for a backwater? Literally just the "star destroyer but bigger" and has place for 72 ties which already makes it superior to other designs

Tartan-Class Patrol Cruiser
Solid ship, seems plausible for one/some of them to be in system if it was marked as valuble

Carrack-Class Light Cruiser
Solid clone wars era design, may be considered outdated but due config 1 has good anti capital punch and may be capable of capturing pirate/rebel vessels easily (due to the ion cannons) while config 2 would be good for warding off pirates, the design was probably hurt by the fact that the planet that designed and built them tried to secede but despite the traitor's mark it was a well designed ship that put crew survivability very seriously, it could be operated by 2 ppl tho so much like the CR90 it might become a target for the rebel alliance looking to grow their fleet, i think it has a place in the fleet since the company was probably nationalised by palps after the secession attempt during the clone wars
