Governor's Gambit - Star Wars SI into Imperial Governor

Hmm, well regarding the sisters, Alvi seemed more apathetic than anything else, not sure on the spook, the eldest the Star destroyer cap actually regretted the lack of contact and mentions being too far away to help las if something happened so shes my favorite of the three sisters

My opinion?
Unlikely.
He's a no-name Governor of a small system, he's not even in the edge of any big corporate sphere, and smaller corps wouldn't have the stones, resources, and skills to do it, and create a false identity that through.
Except he has been doing things that upset the local Admiral's plans for making the Pirates a threat so he looks good when he crushes them. Also, all the projects Las has going.

A Rebel cell likely would have made it so the "accident" killed EVERYONE so these weapon ideas died and are lost to the Empire.

An Impiral though would WANT those projects, and the people who were in charge/knew the details. Killing the governor in a way that looks like an accident means they don't get in trouble for killing a competent individual.

If Las was ACTUALLY incompetent, there would be know backlash for killing him. As he wasn't worth keeping around.

Rebels-unlikely, system is important supply base.
Not so unlikely, the Rebels at this time work heavily in a disconnected cell structure with only a few operatives being known to more than one cell and the work for the Rebels isn't actually done in-system. Instead the equipment they salvage is sent elsewhere. So a different cell might have zero bloody clue there is even a Rebel cell already in Minda because they're making no noise that there is.

I wonder if this is going to result in the local ISB sending an investigation team? An assassination plot is something the local government might be able to keep in house, death threats are not that uncommon for an Imperial governor.

However when said plot wounds the governor to the point that a temporary replacement needs to be installed, that changes things. That is when reports need to be sent to sector command, and ISB probably bugs or just diverts memos like that through them first.

It would be funny if ISB shows up and literally everyone starts falling over themselves to assist with the investigation. Not out of fear of Imperial retribution, but because Las' government was just that popular.

Nope, reread the previous chapters, he has done jack-shit in that regard, all he's done is purchase some ships, which the admiral himself didn't care about, and met with some neighboring governors, which isn't something he would care for, so no he is not likely, hell he's off my possibility sheet all together.

Thats, slightly right, given the infiltration style they would have stolen the designs, similar to the x-wing, so yeah unlikely.

A Imperial MI, would, a random Imperial disgraced or slighted by his family, no, the point would be his death, not the theft.

I didn't say incompetent, remember and REREAD he has a system with less than a million people in it, he's so below notice that some random 3rd world nations on Earth outclass him in both size, manpower, and reach.

Edit: A good comparison for him and his system, IS FUCKING Luxembourg. Not just in population, but in importance.

Usually, rebels know of other cells in the region, so the fact that the rebels in our system know nothing is telling, not only that but what reason would they have to attack him? Even Saw wouldn't attack like this, he at least looks for the most bang for his buck, this is a attack on a no-name Governor in a small system. The most they could have hoped for was the people joining the Rebellion in secret, however any recon would have shown that wouldn't happen.

This is before the Rebellion actually got truly organised and interconnected. So unless the Rebel Cell was the one our Cell was directly selling to then there is no reason for them to know that our Cell even exists. Those agents that connect the cells at the next tier up certainly aint going to be telling those being supplied/buying the gear where they're getting it from, there's no need to. And our local cell is doing its best to ensure that nobody starts looking for Rebels here because that risks themselves.

Nope, Wrong, in both Disney and Legends they form 2BBY, which is the current year. Also, they would have heard something considering if this was a cell they just made a huge mess out of nowhere, not only that again, this serves no purpose, what does this supposed cell gain from this? That's right NOTHING, even Saw would kill the idiots that plotted this if this was a rebel cell, hell did you forget the chapter before? WHERE THE CREW OF THE FUCKING GHOST KNEW ABOUT THIS CELL? If they know then it can be inferred that a general notice would be sent to most cells.

EDIT: Also, A few chapters ago our Rebel leader, literally contacted MON MOTHMA, so unless you're saying some random rebel cell out in the boonies somehow has contact with one of the major leaders of the Rebellion's, then the organization has already occurred.
All this work only for it to be corporate espionage and sabotage
That's not known yet? Unless you have a early draft or something.

Bruh.
Like many of the techs, he had come from the richer core and colony worlds. Places like Coruscant, Corellia, and Kuat. Not for the pay, but for the creative freedom that was promised, and because, like many, the pale man had been practically exiled because of petty power plays and office politics. And, like many of the techs, he seemed to greatly enjoy the freedom given, with special care being put into the MASA. He even worked on it overnight. Thing is, he had called in sick the day of the test. And had failed to pick up his PDA calls.

We found one of the core worlds infiltrators. I see your miss direction tactics corpo!

so they're forming this year, have they already formed? Has every single rebel group already been brought in even if they have? Would one Rebel group be told about every critical Rebel asset, especially those not actually attached to their cell?

No. It's a bad idea. Too much attention from the Grand Inquisitor and the numbered Brothers and Sisters.

TBF if we are following parts Disney canon the Grand Inquisitor is already dead at this point or at least his soul is trapped by vader on a planet. and the brothers and sister are mostly just fighting for that position at this point

Question is who is the employer for the enterprising criminal? It would have to be someone who could whip up forged credentials from the core worlds. Could be criminal organizations like Crimson Dawn in revenge for clamping down on smuggling and piracy. Or an Imperial rival who thinks Imperial politics is a net zero game and thinks having Minda go from bottom of the heap to 7th in the Sector is a threat.
the only group I can think of wanting him dead would be the Zann Consortium given that they're a militarized crime syndicate and are the only ones that have the means and motive to do so as they would be rather interested in making the governer of the backwater system causing them financial loses very much dead.

Yes, as stated previously our Rebel leader contacts Mon Mothma, why would she do that otherwise? And, considering the usefulness of having it? YES, not only can they purchase necessary parts, but they can also repair their vessels, which is something difficult to find for rebel forces.

Cool, you pretty much pulled the part that supports my theory on it being a disgruntled or slighted Imperial, given his background either he worked on the Deathstar, or the Tie-Defender.

the only group I can think of wanting him dead would be the Zann Consortium given that they're a militarized crime syndicate and are the only ones that have the means and motive to do actively so as they would be rather interested in making the governer of the backwater system causing them financial loses very much dead.
Nahh, Zann is still in prison and his Consortium is on the downlow currently.

"Failure to properly vet projects before testing, rushing what can only be called the prototypes of prototypes for live exercises, failure to vet personnel. The R&D department has been given a great deal of freedom because the governor believed in your ability to push Minda as a system forward. No longer."

"The main focus will be on the TIE project that is already underway. Any personal projects will not be allowed to enter any stage of production past simulated models. In regards to the armor projects, only the Expeditionary and Mk II trooper armors are to continue background research."

Again, the techs sought to complain, and again, she shut them down.

"For all your technical abilities, you lack the experience needed to understand what is viable on the battlefield. The Expeditionary armor has promise, but not as an individual unit. Instead, its biggest advantage is as a platform. Make the armor and limbs easier to remove and replace. A modular system allows for more practicality and for different kits to be taken on different missions. It might even see success in the civilian sector if done correctly."

Her input seemed to silence them, their scientific minds taking the idea and automatically working them over. Taking this chance, she continued.

"As for the trooper armor, remove the life support and thin the armor panels enough to allow for higher durability than regular armor, but not heavy enough that you can't remove the exoskeleton. For all that your prototype was good, like most of the armors it was over engineered, and the exoskeleton added far too much complexity. Speaking of, the rest of the armors were just that. The defense armor was far too large and bulky, the elite armors were too advanced, and my armor was a massive waste of resources for a single infantry sized unit."

She kept the fact that she still wanted it to herself. This was not the time to complain about her lack of toys. No matter how much she wanted to.

"There will be increased security measures throughout the labs, including full background checks, scans/pat downs during entry/exit and you will no longer be allowed to bring your work home. You can still use your break times to simulate personal projects, but the use of government materials to build said projects is strictly prohibited until the governor is back on his feet, at which point you may petition him for changes to the rules, or present said personal projects for approval."
Even when under duress due to the danger against her governor, I am impressed with her professionalism and presenting coherent orders in light of the current situation which is completely different from the bloodthirsty Alderaanian looking to increase her kill count like she is the second coming of the Doom Slayer. Oh, don't get me wrong, she still wants to spill the blood of her enemies, but the way she dispensed her orders, as well as her technical feedback on the different prototype armors, shows that she is fully capable of channeling her chaotic mental and emotional states in a productive manner. This will certainly make Grant, and Governor Las by extension, popular to the troops under her command (probably still scared of her on the battlefield, though).

Now we just need to see how Commodore Veers is doing to get a better look at how the local Imperial Navy is dealing with this turn of events.

I think the assassination attempt was Corporate espionage from a mid-level tech group in retaliation for the lesser known technologies such as the PDA, excel speadsheets, or even something as simple as a Star Wars version of the Discord app. The Rebels are too busy trying to set-up a secret R&R Dock, the Imperials actively want him to succeed, and the main pirate threat don't think of him as anything more than a cow to keep milking.

could always be someone envious of the gladiator star destroyer/flotilla ,the ''im more important so why do you have the big toys??? ''
They could have just bought it like Las did, bribes included for expediting the purchase order. Now, if it was a jealous Imperial brokie, I would believe that.

Okay i like the core worlder impirial/ mid-tier corporate espionage. Theories

I was thinking 'pirate heard about the mechs an wanted to nip that in the bud'

Not mutually exclusive, but hey 'cassus belli' for 'pirate hunting resources '

Also, medicine is getting the R&D credit spending now

Chapter 22. My thoughts. Well honestly if he is a governor i am surprised he will even come out with scars. They are going to have access to good medical care. My best guess would be a light pinkness to the new flesh. That fades to white later. After all they can regrown real limbs, organs, even bodies that cannon. Most just pick prosthetics because they are cheaper. So in my opinion scaring should be rather unlikely to occur unless the patient want the scars.
However while the hunt goes on. I could see the governor turning to the medical practices and see about further developments. Because medical equipment and cloning are offshoots of similar technology. With growth tanks and bacta tanks being practically the same equipment. I want to hit the notion of a clone enclave on his planet or possible they get there own large orbital station for the older clones to develop. Grown there own family make there own tradtions. Etc etc. I am not married to the point or anything it just. You have a heavy presence of clones in your forces. When picturing the governor inside a bacta tank. I can easily picture clones being grown and programmed in similar tanks just a few floors down.

The Kathol Rift (Book)

Was looking around old parts of star wars and saw this. If anything of the new mechs can be used it would be a major upgrade.

I could see Veers talking to her father about military developments through casual conversation, that General Rom Mohc could find out as a college in the same arm of the military.

The Imperial Army kind of gets forgotten about and I could see them grasping onto this.

Ife: shit's fucked, some idiot tried to assassinate the governor during the presentation of combat mech concepts so you shouldn't visit rn
Maximilian: combat mechs, out of nowhere? (Don't really care about modified cargo mechs but it's a way to extend the conversation with my daughteru)
Ife: ... Have you seen the scans of Minda-2? I did, because i was responsible for taking them, it's a jungle death world, the colonists are going to need heavy support and that's whats being made
Max: *locks in and asks more questions which eventually lead him to visiting since if the governor is as good at running the place as his daughteru says then it's ought to be decent and since Darth Vader was being grumpy (he choked more naval officers than usual, cuz fuck the navy, all his homies (in the army) hate the navy) due to the dark trooper project being shut down and his infantry being denied heavy weapons support in dense environments* tell me more

no there's still a reasonable motive for the Consortium to target him, the "pirate lords" who are harassing the sector are being funded and supplied by them and we've been hiring people to take out their pirate gangs one after another. so it stands to reason that the Consortium would at least make an attempt to take us out of the picture as we're governor of a system no one in the higher chain of command really cares about.
