Chapter 38 nerd tournament.
I liked this chapter. It was fun.
I had a few more thoughts on civilian and military hardware. Thank you for reminding me of the clone wars tech.
Also personally i really like the Umbro races tech. There stuff just looked cool.
So currently in modern day earth there are several companies that are bringing in domestic robot/drones. Honda, general motors, and quite a few others such as the one that created big dog for infantry use. In the clone wars it was the b1 drone that had multiple uses.
They didn't have anything that filled the spot that big dog was designed for. Which was to carry the extra weight while following infantry in hard terrain. Admittedly repulser sleds probably fill that niche quite easily. If militaries in star wars used them. They don't. What i was thinking for a replacement was a very silent rather dumb drone controlled something like a robot pet brain model. That also had a few goodies like a deployable shield or a smaller crew served weapon. Or even a small mortar system. That can follow infantry everywhere. A spider droid might be better to follow infantry into tight ravines and other hard to hit places. That is my idea for assisting infantry while they are on the ground. Heavy weapon systems that can help no matter what kind of terrain they have.
On the civilian side, it could easily be switched over to military. However on the civilian side a rather expensive, smart, hard to hack. domestic bipedal drone that had a real voice box. Yet was sold to middle income families and even the poor could save up a few months to purchase relatively easy. A very low profit margin on the droid. That is relatively easy to use for homeowners. After activation only the owners or special verified techs and clinics could add additional programs for the drone to use.
The idea behind it was that it would be a durable yet extremely useful home drone that would be really hard to steal/hack and make a profit from when scavengers enter.
