Governor's Gambit - Star Wars SI into Imperial Governor

My favorite girl is Grant.

Imagine our protagonist, trying and miserably failing get rid of her in a series of ever escalating events that see them at the altar.

Oookay... Why would an inquisitor use a mecha, what purpose does it fullfill for him? Speed? Just use a speeder bike or a TIE. Firepower? He is a force sensitive trained with lightsaber. I could see Vader being cross with him here for using this "technological achivement" and "underestimating power of the Force". This is all a bit silly.

Standing at the wideview window of my office in Edin, I looked over the city. Where there was once a field of highrises that dropped down into slums, there was now a myriad of mixed development neighborhoods.

Apartment buildings and businesses sprung up like worms during the rain, parks and plazas breaking up the sea of new buildings. Development was still ongoing, evidenced by the construction ships and sites visible across the city, but things were far better.

New schools had been built, businesses from Minda had been invited to expand in order to help jumpstart the local economy.
Las just casually SimCitying a planet. Beginner urban planning is a bit of a lost art in the galaxy. What with the Core Worlds being built up over millennia and most of the Outer Rim remaining a desolate frontier.

Hopefully those slum dwellers are enjoying their home tax subsidies and education grants. Imagine a former drug brewer enrolling in a college chemistry course to move on to bigger dealers, the medical industry.

However, for all that the newly named city of Edinspire and its planet, Highreach, were mostly free of criminals and pirates, the rest of the system was not.

The defense fleet kept the largest pirate fleets and raider warlords at bay, but was stretched too thin to defend from the myriad of smaller bands. Thankfully, the Guild existed, and a new influx of mercenaries and their companies allowed these new prospectors to seek fortune in peace.
On the bright side, no shortage of targets for Veers, Grant, the militia, and the Inquisitor to train on anytime soon. Also that Edin prison system seems like it will be sticking around for a while yet.
Thankfully, there was an abundance of potential resources to exploit. In the Edin system, there were 4 planets and 6 moons. The asteroid belt was small, to the point that it would not be economical to bring out the same setup that Minda had, with a space based refinery.
With all those locations for hidden bases it's no wonder this became a Pirate and criminal hellhole. Wouldn't be surprised if some of the bigger players decided to put small outposts in the area, if only to keep an eye on the Sector's underground.

Plus side, once it is cleared out and its criminal population dead or reformed, Edin will have a lot of space to expand. It might even have population numbers to exceed Minda. Had something of a head start with all that (not entirely legal) immigration.
Edin 3 had a massive scar on one of its sides. There was little indication as to what caused it, but it made for an easy way to access deeper seated ores. The prospecting teams sent out there found traces of Zersium, a key component in the production of Durasteel. I had authorized the building of a mining outfit there, to extract the ore. It would be stockpiled for now, as an in house refinery was built on Highreaches moon.

Once I started selling refined Zersium, it would provide Edin with a steady supply of credits. Thankfully, Zersium is far from the rarest of materials, and since I've had the size of the vein smudged, I can avoid too much attention.
Or hear me out, instead of selling the Zersium, why not ship it to Minda and start making your own Durasteel. If Zersium is the vital mineral, I assume the rest can either be found on Minda or shipped in cheaply enough to make it profitable. Durasteel can go for about 75 credits for a nebulous unit of measurement and add on fees.

Being able to have a more local source of Durasteel to cut down on cost per unit would make a lot of people in the Sector Administration happy. Durasteel is used in a lot of things from armor, to weapons, to buildings, to ship customizations.

Then again Las might not want the attention of producing such a strategic resource would bring. Would certainly make his domain a "vital interest" to any upcoming Imperial Warlord or Rebel Offensive. Being able to source local Durasteel would be a Forcesend on the logistics end, especially once the Empire starts imploding and trade collapses.
The Wretches themselves were powerful, but apparently some Force users of some kind had used unknown rituals or artifacts to make them invisible to both the eye and sensors. It was what allowed them to lie in wait for patrols.

However, the perpetrators had to be nearby to both keep up the spell, and transport any of the creatures away. That was how the Inquisitor was able to track them, by following their Force signature as they made their retreat.

So far, multiple bases had been discovered across the Dala Canyon range. They were hoping to find as many as possible before attacking them in one fell swoop like the Commander had in the initial attacks on Highreach.
Okay this seems less like "one bad egg" and more a whole collection of minor force users with a grudge. Maybe a collection of low ranking Jedi and Padawan who fell? A squad of Nightsisters who heard of Dathomir's fall and want revenge? I am grasping at straws to figure out who this outfit is.
I hummed. "Let's give them something on the smaller side. LECA's have been getting used more and more as time goes on. And with more and more mercenaries, how bout selling some? Specifically, lighter weight variants. The theme for this quarter is a security variant of the LECA. It must be lightly armored, smaller, and more affordable. This should be more than enough to motivate them."
I could think of a few cost cutting measures for a cheaper security variant:

  • Remove the walker aspect as the primary form of movement. All those dexterous joints, advanced electronics, and sensitive gyro to stay upright add up. Replace legs with bulkier, more stable, and shorter legs ending in wheels. Perhaps two at the end of each leg. Would fit the requirement to make it smaller. Perhaps keep the ability to walk albeit at a much slower pace only useful for marching or maintenance. Think VOTOMs for the relative leg width.
  • The gun is too fancy and long range. Alternative loadout could be a simple one handed firearm, either a blaster pistol or submachine gun. The other arm can have a slab of easily produced metals in the form of a riot shield.
  • Simplify the cockpit and take out a lot of the ability to coordinate on a mass scale. Perhaps go all out and replace the expensive metals and armor with glass-like cockpit to look out of. Still airtight of course.
  • Perhaps add simple tubes on the back for firing (hopefully) nonlethal grenades in a general unguided direction. Don't include an automated loader in order to simplify production. Make them have to manually load the grenades in a relatively small clip with limited rounds before every deployment.
  • General downgrade in metals and material quality. No need to have something as expensive as Durasteel for instance used in the export model. Would help cut down on the weight and might lighten it as well.
This wasn't her LECA, no. It was the Inquisitors, who had apparently sent in a very odd request. She could already see the flaws. For all that it was faster and lighter, its lack of armor would give it a disadvantage as it was still a larger target than most. Even with the shield generator to compensate, she had her doubts. However, the Inquisitor was a Force user, capable of utilizing the Whirlwind to its maximum potential. He likely has a way to utilize such an unwieldy weapon in an effective way.
Given how most Inquisitors are ex-Jedi and how much Jedi liked removing such superfluous things such as "flight assist", "aiming assist", and "most armor" from their starfighters, this is par for the course. Force is their armor, not this silly physical actual armor.
Standing multiple feet above the average LECA frame, her beast of a mech was large. It held a large amount of armor, improved shield generators, and a larger cockpit. Four arms branched out of the torso. The top two held multiple weapons, each strapped to a different side, keeping the hands free. The bottom two arms held large ballistic shields, integrated with smaller shield generators. This allowed the metallic beast to continue to shield itself, even after its normal generators went down.

On its back sat a variety of longer range projectile launchers. However, with all this weight, it came equipped with a repulsorlift backpack as well. Unlike the Inquisitor's suit, hers could not fly, but could pick up good speed when hovering.
Grant: "Behold! I have learned you don't need fancy Force powers to be a killing machine. Just overwhelming superior firepower."

Well any Rebel Base that sees this coming is screwed. Rebel Bases more rely on stealth or difficult terrain, so they don't tend to pack heavier firepower like turbo lasers.

I am imagining rebels hopelessly firing all their blasters and rockets at this thing only to plink off the shields. Their main defense against this would probably be blowing up parts of their base with the LECA in it.

Can you blame the guy for wanting to play with a big stompy mech and crushing some acceptable targets with it? This is a low conflict zone in the Outer Rim. My guess is Seventh Brother views this as a milk run and wanted to play with a fun toy in order to blow off some stress.

For fun? I mean who wouldn't want to run around in a big Stompy robot smushing zombies. This is as close to a vacation as you can get without actually going on vacation.

Ehh… using a speeder in a narrow ravine or canyon full of caves just sounds like a bad idea, especially if wretches swarm out of the caves and flood the canyon. Atleast with an armored core LECA you have extra protection and can just scythe your way through the zombie horde and save your strength for when you have to chase after the necromancer on foot through the cave system when they choose to flee.

Damn, both of those two are going to become best friends destroying everything around them together, while playing completely different builds from the armored core franchise.

It would be amusing if they have a further hidden subplot of just being happy serial killers enjoying eachother's company and arguing over which is the most effective killing tool they can get their hands on.

So decided to check Force Unleashed 2 takes place in 1 BBY, so we could have the Rogue Shadow Crew appear.

I request a Doom quote be said by the MC to commence the operation of the base attacks....

"For all the rage and terror these Wretched creatures bring to our world they are still the pawns of another."

Que a snapshot of the Governor looking at a plaza of stormtroopers *Thinking some last days of the Republic vibes*

"Commander Grant and the Imperial soldiers!!! For all the evil they've done and all they continuing to do I will send them all of you in response".....Rip and Tear Until it is Done."

*Que the Rebellion seeing this and getting really anxious.

Afterwards the mottos for a couple stormtrooper elements that come from the sector are "Rip and Tear" and funny enough the second half of that phrase "Until it is Done". The Governor has yet to answer any questions regarding his speech that day.

My favorite part is the Stuffed Mugwuffin, it means the Governor is so respected, celebrated, and beloved by his citizenry that some savvy fuck thought it would be profitable to sell toys of the Governor's mascot pet and that parents and their children agree.

so who gets the royalties though? the MC or Mugwuffin ??? in either case that's a lot of BBQ.

Can't wait for the rebellion to turn into a full scale war and the entire galaxy is engulfed in it except this one peaceful section of the galaxy, I hope our MC is expecting a tonnnnn of refugees or people just trying to get away from the war, so better start preparing now. Once it's over and the warlord era start it'll be hilarious if they unanimously want him to become the next emperor and he's like 'are you people crazy?!'. Also I'm still hoping this turns into a pairing of some sort.

Chp-40: Busywork and MECHS!

Anyways, I decided that it was high time Kaela got her own mech. The idea was based on this image somewhat. The LECA tech isn't advanced enough for her to pull off the whole lithe apex predator thing, like a panther, at least not with the smoothness Seventh can with his Force shenanigans. But, she can pull the return to monke and just get a bigger, badder piece of metal death.

And both of these custom LECA variants, referred to as LECA-Ad for Advanced, need names.

As always, feedback and commentary appreciated.

Thanks for reading!

The outer rim already has the AT-PT it could use if you want to use pre established technology and avoid too much custom mech stuff.
Only needing one pilot and gives them the firepower to rapidly fire and outgun a whole squad of basic infantry. It is lightly armored however. And they seem to prefer deployment in groups turning a single squad of infantry into very deadly force against far more troops for anti personnel policing duties. that can go just about anywhere infantry can go too since its pretty short and faster than being in foot.
It won't hold up against anything anti vehicle and sufficient fire could overwhelm the armor. But its cheap and easily fielded in numbers to make your short handed manpower far more effective man for man. AT-STs are taller and technically use two pilots. Arguably thicker armor. But slower firerate. Those PTs are great for mowing down enemy infantry in the empire at war thrawns revenge mod.

He should invest in vulture droids. Put more money into their research and make them semi-good.

Nah only cool stuff allowed not something that looks like a mole.

I mean at biologist certainly can't be expected to contribute to the LECA design for instance.
I don't know, it's a great way of getting some cross-discipline expertise and cooperation going. Imagine a LECA with strategic bacta reserves, or a rescue LECA with a field surgery suite, or even one designed to be sealed and work in biologically harmful environments.

Or one that's controlled by a Droid and the cockpit is just a bacta tank with a full surgery and life support suite controlled by a medical Droid brain

Like imagine one picking up a wounded soldier off of a battlefield throwing them inside stabilizing them in transit then handing them off to a medical facility at which point it returns to the battlefield to grab another wounded soldier

Or even one acting as a first responder in a civilian role

Las, much later, when confronted with a stubborn problem: "Cease, or I'm taking her off her leash."

Grant, in her mech, frothing at the mouth, somehow with a collar attached to a lead held by the Governor: *GRRRRRR GRRRRRR*

At this point, he's learned that, when in doubt, throw Grant at the problem.

*glug glug* "You ash well! My loveshly secra, secr, doing work pershon!"

*Bang!*

*Click vrrr vrrr*

"Hey Saila, good news. The governor has signed off on the funds for those new schools and orphanages."

"That's wonderful Ayy. You always know how to sweet talk the governor when it comes to flimsiwork. Must be those Mindan organization skills. Is there any way I can repay you?"

"No problem at all, just keep those kids off the streets and in those classrooms."

——

"THIS IS AN OUTRAGE! UNHAND ME THIS INSTANCE!"

*Bang!*

"I hope you can understand the seriousness of the ISB having to intervene in these matters."

"Of course ma'am. I had no idea the governor was in league with the Black Sun."

"YOU CAN'T DO THIS! I OWN YOU! I OWN THIS DIRTBALL! THIS IS MY KINGDOM AND I CAN DO WHAT I WANT WITH IT!"

*Wham!*

"We know. Our reports came up clean on you."

"Thank you for the compliment ma'am. I try to steer clear of anything murky."

"DAX! DAX! TELL THEM THIS IS ALL A MISUNDERSTANDING! DAX!"

*Slam!*

"I trust you can handle things until Coruscant deigns to send a replacement governor to this easy to look over backwater?"

"He left all the boring work like taxes and infrastructure to me ma'am. We Mindans are used to that. Shouldn't be too hard to pick up the rest."

——

"Citizens! Our governor is slain! Slain by traitorous rebels!"

*whoooaaaoaaa*

"These dissidents are not your protectors! They do not seek your safety! They seek merely to topple the government and revel in the chaos that follows!"

*haaaaaa*

"Where were the Rebels when Minda was beset by hordes of pirates!? Was it the Rebels who broke the backs of the syndicates and freed the people of Edin!?"

*Nooooooo!*

"By my pride as a Mindan graduate, I will not allow this world fall to chaotic ruin! Already I have ordered the brave garrison to assist security forces in conducting swift but fair investigations to track down these assassins!"

*Yeeaaaah!*

"We are all in this together! I plead with everyone to remain in your homes unless it is absolutely necessary! Report anybody you don't know running through the streets! Trust in your neighbors and the Empire's institutions to protect you!"

——

"Thank you for all you've done Undergov… I mean Secretary Ayy."

——

"Very well. I look forward to good news from you Administrator Dax. Or should I say Interim Governor Dax?

——

"Together we will overcome this time of crisis! So I vow as Emergency Military Governor Timerck!"

——

Minda, Las' Office

Hmm, I hope those administrators I approved to be sent abroad are doing well. Maybe I should send some gift baskets with signed letters to keep their spirits up.

Thankfully I managed to convince them to stay in the Myto sector where it's relatively quiet. Can't have them stumble upon some of the Empire nastier messes and running their mouths.

Might even be considered a favor to those worlds. After all who doesn't like a quiet and efficient administrator?

Personally, I would find it pretty funny if they decide that butchering zombies and Force-cultists together is their version of a romantic outing. Grant gets her blood, but also an Inquisitor boyfriend out of the deal. Seventh Brother gets a bloodthirsty cutie for a girlfriend, and has a reason to pop in from time to time, unknowingly giving Las heart palpitations every time from the sheer stress of it all.

I know I'm in the minority, but I'm still hoping for a Grant/Las ship.

Why just the one? It's a galaxy full to the brim with millions of different cultures. If Earth's cultures are any kind of reference point, then polygamy has to be normal in, like, 40% of them. As uncomfortable as the thought is, even Emperor Palpatine canonically (in Legends) had multiple concubines. And then we have Las here, surrounded by cute, hypercompetent women who all greatly admire him to one degree or another. Maybe it's just conditioning from reading too many fics here on QQ, but it looks to me like a lot of groundwork has been laid for a possible harem route for Las.

And that doesn't even touch on the potential sibling angle if OP wants to go full QQ with it, given that Las has three older sisters who all secretly adore him but fail miserably at making him realize that.
