Nameless [ZnT/?] Quest.

And yet IC, we think we're an Air, and that it's a parasite.

We are our own companion... What do?

Break the rules and have more then one familiar.

Wait. Is their a rule stating we can only have one?

Also, considering we can now use our magic, lets do the summoning again.

The problem, Lily is that Louise sees mommy as a GOOD thing and this... PARASITE thing on her magic as a BAD thing.

You know what I want?

Louise coming to the incorrect conclusion that Cattleya's sickness having a similar origin to her not being able to cast spells and trying to do something about it. For lulz.

Mommt is a bad Mommy and a bitch. So no. Void is for great Haxations.

It does epic things whilst being protect by it's Companion/Partner/familiar.

Karin: "I'll give you 'bitch'. But a bad mother would have sold Louise to Gallia for the king to have magical experiments performed to figure out why she's defective long ago, and told Cattleya and Eleanor that she got eaten by a dragon or killed by brigands. A slightly less bad one would have just disowned her outright. No muss, no fuss. Instead, I'm still paying for her to fail laughably at the finest magical academy of tristain and drag the family name through what one can only hope is just mud with her ludicrous magical incompetence. You know that Kirche girl writes letters home, right? I've had to messily execute a dozen scouting parties into our lands since she enrolled, since people, namely Zerbsts, were getting ideas that the Valliere were becoming weak from reports of my daughter. Honestly, nobody dared for years and years before she was born. .... Also, what Familiar are you talking about? Good luck trying to both chant spells for fifteen minutes or more and keep yourself from being turned to an arrow pincushion."

This. I may not be terribly impressed with Karin, and I do think she's one of those people who just shouldn't have children, ideally, but she's doing the best she can. She isn't a romcom career-mom/education mama who's demanding perfection because she can, she's demanding competence because Louise is a member of one of the most powerful families in the country. If she's not a decent mage, she's kidnap fodder.

This; and I think that she probably suffers from PTSD in some form.

so play summon another familiar is a go? just gotta make sure it attaches to us, and not to the void parasite. >:D

I'd say we should research our condition before making any decisions on what to do about the whole parasite situation. Or trying to summon another familiar.

Karin does try and IS a loving mother... she just doesn't express herself well to the ball of neurosis that is Louise.

Thing about that...

Familiar is totes 4 lyfe. You know? I mean, there's stories that Brimir, the founder himself, had a bunch. But for everyone else, you get one. Deal with it, etc~

And you only get to bind another after that familiar is dead and the runes go away.

So.... This is basically where I look over the top of the screen, raise my eybrows a bit, and go 'Sorry, could you say that again?'

Louise needs more love with how screwed up she is...

Fortunately, she now has a familiar who understands her and will always be supportive.

The problem is that their various neuroses do not intersect well. Competing neuroses, even.

Of course, it's Karin's trying to express her love through her own that gave Louise hers, so...

=>> Rest.

It takes you a few minutes to get your tongue in order, but then you make a request to send word of an important matter that must be discussed in private to Colbert. The healer waves a hand and assures you it will be taken care of.

Questions about the damage get a more helpful response.

No permanent damage. Yet. Just a lot of incidental stuff, adding up, and a little bit of blood loss from smaller vessels opening to spill it forth. Enough that you had to drink a restorative draught in addition to a good night's rest, but not enough to be so serious as to require an actual spell to be used to heal you.

Good enough. If the price to pay in order to finally use your magic is just pain from that thing objecting, then... well, you'll survive it.

You close your eyes, and after a while, your breathing evens out.

---

When you wake, feeling much better but with a lingering and subtle ache in your bones.

A tan and brown-haired maid coughs slightly, setting a tray of food and drink down.

"Headmaster Osmond requests your presence at your earliest convenience." She says, softly.

=>> Om gromnom, urp, phew.

You aren't really even that hungry.

Right up until the moment you lay eyes on the food. Then you are ravenously famished, and you lay waste to the offering like a starving wolf. The maid cringes slightly, prompting you to rein in matters and display some decorum.

Doesn't matter much, it was almost all done by then anyway.

=>> Happiness~

You're almost floating on air as you quickly scour yourself, the healer must have scrubbed you down earlier, but you can always do with being a little fresher.

... strange, you can't find your Pentacle broach. Well, it isn't like it matters much, you can just report it as lost and request a new one.

It does tickle at your mind a bit, though, since while all of the school's uniform is provided with a part of the tuition given, most of it is at the current Headmaster's discretion. The only real required portion of the uniform, from the time the academy opened its doors for the first time, are those little bits of significant jewelry. They aren't even valuable metal though, just brass. More symbolic than anything else. You're not even technically required to wear them, though most do, just have them nearby.

Still, you dress and make your way to the Headmaster's office. You would visit Colbert first, but at this time, he has a class, so you don't really want to interfere with that...

"Good~ Morning~" you chirp, happily.

"Ohoho~" The headmaster chuckles, waving his secretary out. "It's good to see you, young miss Louise. Have a seat, have a seat. I see you're in high spirits."

You nod, agreeably, as the old man strokes his mouse.

"Good, good... It is good to see you are unbowed by circumstance." Osmond chuckles. "I simply wished to inform you, my dear, that you needn't concern yourself about a thing. Arrangements have already been made, and the charter will come at the Academy's expense."

".... Pardon?" You say slowly, your good mood beginning to falter.

"Hm? Oh, of course. For your travel home, young miss." Osmond says, stroking his beard.

And just like that, there is a crack shattering through your good mood.

"Wh-what-?" You stammer.

"Yes, the proper forms and documentations have all already been filed. It is simply more... politically sound, for a daughter of the Valliere to choose to withdraw from tutelage quietly, rather than a grand fuss being kicked up and forcing your parents to come collect you. Simpler for everyone involved, really."

[X] What? Well, fine then- I... It's not like I liked this stupid school anyway! I'll be perfectly fine figuring my magic out for myself!

[X] "But... but I just worked out what was wrong with my magic and can do it now... I even found out WHY it didn't work properly... before."
- - [X] Just LOOK at him. Do not relent! No backing down. You can DEMONSTRATE it if necessary, with simple air spells.
