Puellus Gamer Magica (The Gamer/PMMM quest)

Larekko, while I agree going all in on INT may not be the best option before ensuring we can at least survive, your stat allocations are pretty poor too. I mean, 40 INT - really? Mami has more INT than that, and she's not even a mage who depends on that stat!

Here's my stat allocation choice:

[X]Stats:
STR: 12 + 0 = 12
DEX: 13 + 27 = 40
VIT: 12 + 7 = 19
INT: 20 + 30 = 50
WIS: 11 + 4 = 15
LUCK: 8 + 12 = 20

High INT and DEX, for the speedy sorcerer build we're already using - high DEX to evade attacks and strike accurately and quickly with the rapier, high INT to get Mana Affinity and for increasingly powerful spells. STR and VIT are basically worthless - STR we're never going to use, and VIT isn't something we need a lot of, but is second most useful after LUCK, just in case we get hit. WIS is mildly useful for if/when we get into a situation involving perceptive/observational abilities and/or social capability, and LUCK is extremely useful for fudging the dice and increasing drop rate, so it comes third. What do you guys think?

Higher Int in the Gamer had a notable effect even just increasing to 50. With regards to speed. Larekko, shut up about being speed blitzed. Please point out canon speed style witches. Now contrast the number of them to the number of tank style witches. Hmmm. Notice something?

Dimensionist. Mami Does Depend on and INt and DEX. Int is for all her Conjuration tricks and Ribbon powers. She's also a veteran. And due to the way Sorceror works we are going to hit sixty in a about two level if we only put in half our level up points.

Although Dimensionist may not agree with me, he does at least understand proper stat placement for the most part. It's a better plan than the other two ones.

I'm going to guess that we can't vote on our transformed look huh? Since I included a transformed look with my untransformed look.

[X] Intelligence to 100.

So we're blasting them. blasting them doesn't stop you from missing, and getting speed blitzed. Speed is how you actually maintain distance to shoot the damn things.
We don't know if dexterity determines accuracy of spells. That might very well be determined by intelligence instead. If we increase all stats we will have little idea about the effect of each stat. We were told that the first encounter would be easy so lets take advantage of that and raise one stat at a time.

That pure Int build is utterly retarded.
It makes you squishy, slow, unlucky and overeager as fuck and puts litreally all of your eggs into a single basket even though we know frighteningly little about the game and how well it's balanced.
If the game turns out to be anything but hugely beneficial to pure Int characters, this is an outright suicidal build and, even if the game makes it workable, it's going to be boring and fragile as fuck which is a very large problem in a quest.

If we dump everything into Int like a retard there is a very large chance we are going to die against the first enemy that is not absolutely pathetic, because we dumped all of our points into Int like a retard.
When you don't know anything about the game except that the setting is lethal as fuck throwing all of your hopes at a single stat is utterly stupid.
Even if it where a good way to determine the usefulness of the various stats, which it is by the way not because we learn jack shit about what any of the five other stats do, it would just get you killed before you can even apply any opf the knowledge gained.

We know that the first encounter is going to be easy. I could understand improving defense by putting points in dex and maybe vit (though vit does not increase hit points so it is not that important) but why would you put points in strength? Jack of all trades characters are generally much weaker than specialized characters.

At least wait with putting points in wis so that we can find out what the difference between wis and int is. That would also give us more than enough points to get the int 50 perk which is very valuable for a sorcerer.

Mami only had her ribbons when she began as a meguca without the Gamer ability and yet she can survive until now.
Just so you know, the Witch/Lich you're fighting are...easy (mainly because I want to test out the combat stuff T_T)

Edit: Ah, I'll edit it, it's supposed to be Deals 20% extra damage when using one *knocks head*

Didn't Mami pull her Guns from those ribbons in a week? And Dem Magic Ribbon, And She fast.

Well, that changes things.
I mean it's not like the build you are proposing would result in us having absolute shit stats in literally every field other than Int way beyond our fist combat and is stupid enough to make even that first engagement far more dangerous than it is supposed to be.

Wait a second.
That's exactly the case.
Sorry, it turns out 100 Int is still retarded.

As for why there are points in Str:
1. It's only 8 points which isn't a huge loss.
2. Given that even Mami has 25 in spite of being very much a ranged fighter it is a reasonable assumption to make that having a minimum of Str and the benefits it provides helps significantly with surviving in PMMM, even if you're not a melee character.
3. There is significant utility to be had in not having absolute shit Str values.
4. Not having absolute shit Str values makes for a very good panic button, when something gets unexpectedly close or we run out of mana due to it counting double what Dex does for melee damage.

Guys, at least give our character 50 INT so he can use Mana Affinity off the bat. That skill is too useful to have in battle to be sidelined over balance concerns.

Heck, my stat allocation vote takes all that into account in the vote, and I've explained my reasons for each of the numbers we're investing in points.

Considering that the 100 Int vote is outright suicidal and things are close enough for a vote split to let it win, I'll sadly have to decline.
That said, two level ups or increses of The Sorcerer Perk are enough to unlock it and the first battle is going to be easy, so I really don't see delying this for a very short while as too much of an issue.

It is not even clear that we would benefit that much from any other stat except dexterity (which the plan you voted for only increase by 12). We don't know what wis and luck does. Vit does not increase hp and strength is probably our least useful stat. So it is very possible that our first fights would be less dangerous with int 100 than with your prefered build.

2. Mami is not a game character so she did not get to choose what stats to increase. She might very well not have much use for her high strength.
3. 12 strength is not that bad. The protagoinist of The Gamer started with only 10.
4. It is better to be able to avoid such situations in the first place.

Well... assuming that Wisdom only increases the recovery of mana and possibly HP, I wouldn't mind changing the "+19 to wisdom" to "+10 to wisdom" and adding those 9 points to intelligence, bringing it up to 50.

[X] +8 Strength
[X] +12 Dexterity
[X] +8 Vitality
[X] +30 Intelligence
[X] +10 Wisdom
[X] +12 Luck

Which brings the stats to:
Strength - 20
Dexterity - 25
Vitality - 20
Intelligence - 50
Wisdom - 21
Luck - 20

Note that this is only for if all the others agree to change it, as well. I have to get to sleep, and I have class tomorrow, so I might miss the next update. If it didn't look like people were going to change their votes, I would have changed it back to the original one, anyway, so I'm just making this clear.

In that case would it not be better to not put any points in wis at all this time so that we can find out what the difference between int and wis is? Also I would suggest moving points from strength to dexterity or intelligence.

No.

Also after some off the table calcs provided we go with the more balanced build, our base weapon damage without any skill modifiers or weapon damage should be: 65. Please note that this is without benefits from our weapon damage or piercing proficiency so the damage will be even higher then that.
Our energy bolt: 31.5. Admittedly that would increase the higher the skill level gets but for now and likely for a while our melee attack is much more potent then energy bolt is.

The 100 int build energy shot level 1 damage: 40
level 2 energy bolt 100 int build damage: 55

All in all the 100 int build leaves us less capable of doing damage initially and does so at a greater cost to us.

Edit: Please note that the energy bolt calcs are made on the assumption that the level being referred to in the skill's damage section is the skill's level and not that of our character.

Remember that the damage of energy bolt gets doubled due to our rapier. Also the damage of energy bolt increases very fast with level if we have high int (it is very easy to level up skills in the beginning so we will probably level it up a few times during this battle).

Thought I'd forgotten something. :-[

Still though, on being doubled the damage from the first two skill levels barely beats our unfinished melee damage (since I don't know what weapon damage is and thus could not complete the calcs) which isn't exactly all that inspiring if you think about it.

Also the with rapier calcs:
Balanced build energy bolt lvl1: 63
100 int build energy bolt lvl1: 80
100 int build energy bolt lvl2: 110

Not as bad but not quite worth putting all points in int in my opinion.
