Rule 8. Politics. Gone. For good.

Obviously we must make a spinoff forum dedicated solely to political shitflinging.

.......

Wait that's called /pol/.
We need somewhere that politics can be discussed in which everyone is united around something that's completely unrelated to politics. That's what kept discussion more civil than it is elsewhere.

...ugh.

WHY must you put that in my head. WHY.

More seriously, not current events politics.
Alright then, time to make a hardcore sex fic about the Watergate scandal. Aroooooooooo~!

... Huh. Weird. I'm half between laughing at that, and vomitting at it, and also having that uncomfortable, uncomfortable notion that somebody has already done exactly that...

Regardless, I support this notion—I only fear what backlash might stem from it, because I'm always saddened to see a nice community go to shit.

No, no, I said politics, not democracy!

We should totally take a page from Elder Gods and become abomination!

But bear-san, by its very nature, popular governance requires, nay, demands! all who live in it to become politicised by necessity. Such is its inescapable, inevitable curse!

Wait what do you mean TrumpxHillary stuff is banned too? FUCK. My masterpiece I was slaying over these past few years was a TrumpxHillary hate sex fic! Now the world will never get to be blessed with the misadventures of Tsundere Hillary and Genki Guy Trump! NOOOOOOOOO

... you will still allow political lewds, right? Because I found a few mangas about Trump and Hilary that are utterly hilarious.

But in all seriousness, I've seen some pretty awesome political hentai doujins, I remember one in particular of Obama and... I want to say Hilary but the character was too sexy for it.

Actually scratch that, found it. It was Hilary. Huh, I guess hentai can make anything look sexy with only tangential connections.

Edit: as for these new turn of events. I don't argue politics. that's like smashing two brick walls together and hoping the small child in between them comes out with only minor bruising.

And it made the mods sad, since they had to constantly deal with morons running in circles.
Ones who also saw themselves as superior to the moderators, guveen the most recent incident that provoked this.
This is your last warning.
Internet Tough Guy Syndrome against a Moderator; the equivalent of trying to fight off a Tsunami of Chainsaws and Honey Badgers with your fully erect penis—you're only making it worse then it could possbly be.

Ugh. I was hoping to avoid having this particular topic dragged out into the open, but...

Has it occurred to you that some people just aren't bootlickers? And that punishing people for insufficient submission is actually rather petty and egotistical and not really something to be cheered on?

Oh, of course, and I see no reason to be one or a brown noser. Basic fucking courtesy to a person of power when they're in a bad mood and giving out punishment to people trying to start shit, or just outright not saying shit to these people? Yeah, I'm sorry, but I'm not annoyed that they're not kissing the ground our moderators walk on, I'm annoyed they're this goddamn dumb and antagonistic to not even beung able to barely work out concepts this simple, and it's something somsimple that it's a psychological Venn Diagram with all of the connected Xenoforum sites (SB, SV, QQ). You antagonize an agry mod, you are winning a Darwin Prize.

and not really something to be cheered on?
Point, these kind of things never help anything. I apologize for my expressed glee at that, I should have better control over reactions to these kind of things.

To be honest, it's less submission and more... politics in QQ was a mistake from the start. It seemed reasonable at the time... and then it went cray cray over time.

As a mod, I honestly do not want situations where I have to use mod powers. I honestly don't. I prefer to post and read fictional material. That's what I'm here on QQ for... the fact that I have to clean up messes as a mod means there is less time for me to enjoy myself.

The ideal situation for me or any mod really is everyone having fun, posting lewd or not so lewd material, reading stuff... and not being dicks or assholes.

Okay, I apologise too. I guess I misinterpreted you.

Just to be clear is this all politics or just US politics?

Also, porn featuring politicians are banned as well?

See, I'm the kind of person that doesn't let a person's political views affect my opinion of them as a person. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. The notion that certain opinions are 'wrong' is what annoys me more than anything else.

All the politics stuff always seemed extremely isolated into the politics thread to me, with the only spillover ever being into other Rants threads (such as the SV thread).
Were we reading the same rant threads? Even before the last half year or so, at least half the posts in those rant threads were 'olol look at this person who disagrees with my views'. Doubly so for the (anti-)SJW bullshit. Not to mention people coming in here after being banned on the other forums and ranting about being persecuted for their political views, when if you went and looked at the tribunals or posts that put them over the edge? They' were often just being shitposters and thumbing their noses at the mods when told to tone it down and/or stop.

My suggestion is to make a forum dedicated to the idea of putting 2 monkeys into a used outhouse and watching them fight. Your already 50% of the way to politics then without the most divisive part of it being involved yet. Granted you will still get arguments over which monkey did better, and which was covered with less shit at the end, but hey, that's at least a funny argument.

And yes, this post is as much about making my stance on politics as a whole clear as it is a joke, just in case anyone was questioning that.

Okay, I have a bit of a concern.

Namely, one of the fiction projects I'm working on has... well, not quite political themes, but politics is very much involved and a character was basically Justine Sacco'd in the backstory. I'm not sure that "safe and friendly place for fiction" and "no politics" are quite compatible.

I think fictional politics are pretty safe.

'side, you're member of the Cabal right? Just ask directly. Easier that way.

a) That post wasn't directly addressing the matter of whether politics does or does not belong on QQ, or particularly referring to you. I don't particularly want to derail the thread; would you like me to PM you about it?

b) While I do appreciate that the amount of mod action in Rants recently exceeds the amount on the rest of the board combined, and that that's not fun, I do have to question how much of that is actually necessary. One wonders whether simply leaving some of the problem threads alone rather than attempting to control them would have actually caused many difficulties. But I admit that's a mite hypothetical.

As for why I actually liked having it there... well, to be perfectly honest, this is the only reasonably active forum I frequent where my political/philosophical positions don't make me a pariah. The result of me discussing my opinions on society is all too often a fireball as people BSoD from Overton window violation (as you probably recall from SV), and it's been really refreshing for the past year to be able to discuss those sorts of things from time to time without turning everything I touch into a flaming wasteland.

When we say no politics, we mean no real life politics. Or real life politics thinly veiled behind a mostly translucent veneer of imagination.
