  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.

Oh absolutely, she was born in 1926 and coronated in 1953. The Queen has been the Queen since my grandad was 5! It's like seeing a mountain die, she was part of the fabric of the country at this point. The Royals are absolutely fucked now she is dead, they'll be gone in the next 50 years probably.

I was half-expecting her to live forever, like the memes about her refusing to die until she gets the British Empire back, or to spite Charles.

More seriously, I was expecting her to at least reach 100, round it off with a nice three-digit number. Still, 96 years is nonetheless an astonishing record for a British monarch; she has seen dozens of US Presidents and UK Prime Ministers come and go, hell, seen entire countries do the same - Germany, the USSR, Yugoslavia - and she was there for all of it. You can legitimately and genuinely say this is the end of an era with her passing.
 
At least Charles and not the other one that got caught having sex with a minor is on the throne.
 
As a Canadian, I felt nothing. Well, a mild suprise, but nothing else.

Man, am I glad I got a federal paid holiday out of it. Poor non government bastards here in Ontario Canada got fucked without it.
