Vote Thread for Ack's Omake Corner

[X] NSW - 6
[X] Meet the Heberts - 5
[X] Danny & Taylor - 4
[X] Bait & Switch - 3
[X] One More Trigger - 2
[X] Recoil - 1

You could try tracking the number of likes each chapter gets, if that's possible. Probably would be too hard to get to actually show you any valuable information.
Ehhhh.... The Likes a story gets probably have little bearing on how many votes it gets. Many of Ack's readers who Like all his stories will never vote on them.

I was thinking that there might be a correlation with how popular a chapter is compared to previous and with how many votes it gets. Still, I recognize that it's something of a long shot.

So having never really seen the point of creating an account to view the fiction ( when you can read most of it without one) you have motivated me to do so in order to vote .....so I thank you for that, good Sir Ack...and with that said.

[X] Wyvern - 5
[X] Security! - 4

Nice to have you here, Accerak. Hope you enjoy your time in QQ regardless of how much you choose to interact.

Alerts, my friend. Lets you see when a story gets updated without having to check the thread manually every time. Same reason you'd make an account for Fanfiction.net or Archive of Our Own.

Hmmm, good to know....though will still probably manually check the threads...have read stories again and again just while waiting for updates...not sure what I would do with my time otherwise.

Vote 84: Security!
Thanks, as always, for voting.

Voting points this round: 1320

Announcement
The new vote counting system is awesome. That is all.

On to the main event.

Alea Iacta Est 336
All Alone 718
Bait & Switch 675
Confrontation II 501
Danny & Taylor 844
Hostage Situation 217
I, Panacea 1147
Junior Hero 903
Meet the Heberts 622
MirrorVerse 1131
NSW 951
Nemesis 681
One More Trigger 262
Really Bad End 1091
Recoil 942
Security! 0 (1178)
Slippery Slope 326
Trump Card 200
War Games 64
Wyvern 794

[If you want to know which of these stories is NSFW, check the first post of the thread..]

Security! is still looking good. We have three others in the thousand range, but it does look like poor Really Bad End is going to be lapped by a couple more before its turn. Ah well.

Well, Security! has come in just 31 points ahead of the fast-approaching I, Panacea, which is the odds-on favourite to win next round, followed by MirrorVerse, then it looks like Recoil and Wyvern might beat out Really Bad End before its turn. Oh well, it'll get there eventually :p.

Check out Jim Starluck 's spreadsheet for a reasonable prediction.

Note also that the vote counting script given to me by Throne3d was of huge assistance.

Anyway, thanks again for voting, and I hope you enjoy reading the stories as much as I enjoy writing them.

For anyone who hasn't voted on this thread before, the voting rules go as follows:

1) UP TO six votes. I will not count anything extra, and a write-in will likely be ignored (if I want to write a different story, I will, but at my own discretion). Suggestions are welcome, but I am under no obligation to carry them out. And just remember, the more stories I am writing, the longer it will take for your favourites to roll back around.
2) First vote is worth six points, second is worth five, and so on.
3) You can't vote twice on the same story. The voting code will count the last vote and ignore previous ones.
4) If I say "Voting is CLOSED", then this post comes up, with "Voting is OPEN" at the bottom, then you can vote again.
5) If I say "Voting will continue", it's still the same voting period. Voting has not restarted. You can not vote a second time.

Vote format looks like this:

[X] Alea Iacta Est - 6
[X] I, Panacea - 5
[X] Security! - 4
[X] Recoil - 3
[X] Trump Card - 2
[X] NSW - 1

Specifically: SQUARE brackets around an X, one space, and please spell at least the first word of the name of the story properly. Number of voting points comes last. Please try to format your vote properly, so as not to confuse the vote counter.

Thank you.

Voting is OPEN.

Yeah, RBE is gonna have to wait its turn.

Next four rounds are still being predicted with high enough margins that upsets are unlikely:

Vote 85: I, Panacea - 67-vote margin
Vote 86: MirrorVerse - 55-vote margin
Vote 87: Recoil - 139-vote margin
Vote 88: Wyvern - 63-vote margin

After that, predictions have shifted. Last time, Really Bad End was predicted to win Vote 89 by 1 vote; now it looks like NSW has pulled well ahead of it and is going to win by 25. RBE gets the next one for certain, though, winning Vote 90 by a whopping 191 votes. Vote 91 isn't quite as forgone, but still almost certainly going to Alea Iacta Est, at a margin of 87 votes.

Then we have a pair of close rounds in a row. Vote 92 is currently penciled-in for All Alone, but by a margin of only 8 votes -- very possible this could shift as we get close. Nearest competitors to it at that point are Meet the Heberts 8 votes behind, or Danny & Taylor 10 votes behind. If even 1 vote per round shifts away from All Alone, or to either of those stories, that will change things by the time we reach that vote in the first week of January.

Vote 93 is also close. Trump Card will have shot to the top of the charts, its high vote-rate enabling it to surpass Meet the Heberts by 10 votes. Danny & Taylor will not have kept up; it gets even fewer votes that MtH and will be about 40 votes behind Trump Card.

If none of those predictions are upset, Meet the Heberts will coast to an easy win in Vote 94, on a margin of 58 votes.

From there, rounds-to-win look like so:

Alea Iacta Est: 8
All Alone: 23
Bait & Switch: 23
Confrontation II: 3
Danny & Taylor: 2
Hostage Situation: 12
I, Panacea: 4
Junior Hero: 8
Meet the Heberts: 20
MirrorVerse: 16
NSW: 17
Nemesis: 15
One More Trigger: 10
Really Bad End: 46
Recoil: 4
Security!: 7
Slippery Slope: 8
Trump Card: 11
War Games: 6
Wyvern: 6

Again, that's counting from Vote 94.

Accuracy for the Vote 84 predictions was 97.62% overall, with an average difference of 8 votes between predicted and actual results. Most accurate was a tie; both Confrontation II and Junior Hero came in exactly on-target; 100% accurate, 0 votes off. Least accurate proportionally was War Games, which just updated and earned only 80% of expected votes. Least accurate in raw count was Slippery Slope, which pulled in 27 more votes than expected.

As for my vote:
