• The site has now migrated to Xenforo 2. If you see any issues with the forum operation, please post them in the feedback thread.
  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
  • The rules regarding NSFW links have been updated. See here for details.

XF2 transition feedback

I am once again requesting that edit time be extended to five minutes.

Is it actually not a feature in the second Xeno version or something?

I can actually see that, and hate it.

Imagine developers adding ability to use eggplant and sweat emojis but removing the ability to alter post-edit timeframe alteration and patting themselves on the back for a job well done.

Do we actually have 60 seconds to ninja edit a post? Or is the time instead measured by the minute changing? Because I've had times where I realize that I need to correct a typo immediately after posting and do so, but don't manage to make the timeframe.

Clicking on tags still doesn't work properly.

That is the intended XF2 behavior, SB works the same way. The XF1 behavior is not planned to be restored, and is likely impossible to anyway.
...why is XF2's intended behavior to worsen discoverability?
If you want all results across the site for a given tag, use the Advanced Search function and enter the tag(s) you're after.
I've been going to the front page and doing basic title searches, since that includes tags anyway.

Either behaviour is a perfectly reasonable default. If I click on the 'Worm' tag while reading a Worm fic, I presumably want more Worm fics, not Worm quests, or discussions of Worm canon, or threads about managing worms in your garden.

Now, in the case of QQ in particular, searching everywhere is generally a more useful default, because a) we only really have two types of distinct content - fics and quests - rather than having a lot of forums with radically different types of content that wouldn't interest the users of the others, and b) we have the artificial distinction of the SFW and NSFW forums within each of those two categories. But of course, XF2 wasn't designed for QQ specifically.

I had a login problem, where, I logged in, but trying to click on a NSFW story from my bookmarks gave me an error message saying I need to log in. I logged in again and it fixed itself, but it was weird.

It's an old glitch from the before times, I believe. Before the switch, if you were long into forum(dot)QQ and then switched to QQ without the forum(dot), you had to log in again because computer shenanigans I don't understand.

Cookie got scoped to the subdomain instead of the domain.

questionablequesting.com =/= forum.questionablequesting.com

Sort of.

It's ancient lore of the before times. Oversimplifying, it's kind of like having two ways to enter one house. Even if you unlock one, you still have to unlock the other door to use the other door. But it's the same house you're entering either way.

You likely logged into/use one consistently, but the story you bookmarked was one you made when using the other. So even though you were logged into your usual, the other one still needed a login to get in.

Novelupdates has the same with the forum serving as the actual main entrance to continue the metaphor, logging you in to both while you need to log in to the forum again even after logging into the main site

What are you talking about? There's limits to editing your posts.
You have a minute-long window to edit your post before EDITED shows up in the bottom right of the post, but that used to be a five minute window after the upgrade.

I'm curious why that is and if it can/can't be changed.

We still don't have emails that contain the post's content back. @alethiophile, can you give us an update?
AFAIK that's either illegal or functionally impossible, unfortunately. But not an admin so can't comment for sure.

(...other than "if it was possible it would have been added back ages ago because it's, like, THE most asked for feature")

I still get email alerts that contain the contents of the post from other forums that use XenForo, so it clearly isn't impossible.

Even if this being a NSFW forum makes it illegal or something it would be nice to have that confirmed instead of having to wonder where that feature went.

It is possible, I still had a notification email from QQ back in 2020 that has the full content of said post.

It was a removed feature for some probably legal reason.
