I really like that old beggar from kung fu hustle who tries to trick kids to buy super martial arts, like

An old beggar sneaks up to you and whispers, "Hey kid, I see your bones are perfect for a cheat systems! I can sell this cheat to you for a dime or a set of five for a quarter, how about it?"
If you think about it, after an economic downturn, there's always good games released (kotor? after dotcom, skyrim? after big short, cp77/elden/bg3? after covid... etc.), so it's like, maybe the tariffs aren't that bad

counter point is bad games are released during the downturns, such as league
So a lot of the trashy urban or ancient styled web stories have been made into tiktok ready web shorts, and it's so awful and addicting and awful
Hey. Sorry if this is a bother but I haven't seen you around the usual threads or your story thread in a while and I just wanted to check in and see if you're doing okay.

Ni, I'm afraid it isn't. It's a commissioned work and nobody has expressed interest in paying for some more chapters. Thanks for liking it, however.
Remember when, like, 8 or 9 years ago, people were like, you know, this season of America Earth is too insane, the producers are in their final season, they're pulling out all the stops, they've run out of ideas, it's too crazy, nothing's going to top this... anyway,
Im being restricted by character count, wanna comment real bad but where to reach you? dicrd or? I dont know how forums work I just read :)

I keep going into these stories expecting... idk... idk what I'm expecting, but no matter how low my expectations are, more often than not I am let down. Not all the time, mind you, sometimes there's surprises, but you know how it be. It's just a lot of stories seem to be really good at having a good opening couple chapters that really draw you in, you know? And I fall for the trap everytime...

I tend to see stories with interesting premises that hold great promise start good, have a good start-middle, then start crashing. Stories that start bad then get good and stay good, or start good and stay good all the way through are more rare.

Stories that start good then get better the more they go on, are the rarest.
Any thoughts about retrying your Xianxia fic? It seemed like an interesting idea.

Cool.

Maybe some of the lack of interest is because almost all Xianxia worlds feel basically the same and most people (Cultivators) in them are pretty shitty. You could always try it the opposite way, have the Cultivator die and the Normal wake with his memories/talents in a different setting?

I pretty much lost interest in Martial Peak cuz the art went to shit, the story went to shit, and the translation got sniped by an absurdly shitty translater.

I lost a lot of interest because most of the stories were circular, always building up to some big bad, always faceslapping, always more shitheads plotting against the MC.

You know thinking back on Yoru simping for Carrion..he obviously hates her for being even more evil then Makima but wouldn't he also dislike her for using the body of a highschool girl to do her weird version of "flirting" ? I feel like that alone would already kill any chance of him responding positively.

If Yoru tried to put the moves on him in Asa's body, probably one of the few times he'd just go "Uh-uh, not dealing with that." and hide behind Makima while she shows her sister who's boss, with the only real specification to not kill or traumatize Asa in the process. The poor girl…

I find myself looking down on the protagonists who say their goal for training/cultivating is immortality, especially the "immortal cultivators", like, longevity and eternity are things that just come along with growth, so it seems like a very uneducated answer. Anyway, what's the point of living forever, if you're just "training" or "meditating" all the time?

"Do they even remember how to enjoy the eternal life they worked so hard to earn?"

I think there were a lot of stories about that, even if they don't have immortality as an end goal. The immediate movie that comes to mind, even if it's not the best example is "Click" starring Adam Sandler.

I read one recently where they dealt with the love aspect where he fell in love and married when he was just starting out his immortal life, and going forward (after his wife died) basically he's so far up in terms of mindset that he can't fall in love with someone younger, or if there's an opportunity it passes because he was cultivating in a cave for 300 years and the girl died lmao.
