The RWY reactions made me think they thought "Blake came back", but no. They just happened to be at the same place at the same time. Blake did not waste any time thinking about the rest of her team once the shit on Menagerie started.

Jaune Arc didn't have aura.

He did once, but something happened on the way to Atlas. It just stopped. When he'd reach for the pool of energy it felt like trying to move almost frozen syrup.

There's no way he'd be able to help anyone in this state. Surprisingly a solution didn't come from either of the adult (or whatever Ozcar counts as) huntsmen, it came from Ren.

So here he was sitting in a run down cabin while a old man makes him tea in the hopes it'll magically heal his soul.

What a joke.

"You seem troubled my friend, is Jasmine not to your liking? I believe I have some black tea is that's what you desire."

It is REALLY hard to be upset around this guy.

He's old, not ancient but he definitely earned that grey hair. He's a larger man though not quite fat, stocky there was power in that body once but it had been softened by time and comfort. He's dressed in a loose green robe and seems perfectly comfortable even with a blizzard raging outside.

"The little lotus tells me you are in turmoil. What ails you friend?"

"My aura isn't working. Its gone!"

He sips his tea calm even as Jaune isn't.

"You still possess a soul do you not? Then your aura is still there. No your issue lies elsewhere."

Cryptic Mysterious old men. Oh joy more of this.

"Well that's just perfect, no Jaune your aura is still there it's just useless just like you, thank you. Truly I really needed the confirmation that my life is a joke."

He's inspecting Jaune. His gold colored eyes are surprisingly sharp despite his relaxed demeanor.

"I can see the wound on your heart but not it's source. Tell me what hurt you? Was it criticism? A defeat? Rejection? A loss?"

A flinch. Damn it.

"Yes I do believe the little lotus told me that once your family of three was one of four. I did not pry them but that's beginning to feel like a mistake."

"Her name was Pyrrha. She was the best of us."

"Do you blame yourself?"

"No."

"Do you believe you failed her somehow."

"No."

"Then please tell me your issue child."

"And how will that help me? Bear my soul to a old man in the ass end of nowhere, spill all my secrets in the special little pow-wow and magically feel better? Life isn't a fairytale. My issues are mine. I should just head home before I get in the way."

"And you believe that this is the right path?"

"It's the one that keeps me from being in the way. Just like Pyrrha wanted."

"Did she?"

"Of course she did! Why else would she throw me away like that! Wrapped up in that locker like a fragile piece of glass and sent away!"

There's warmth in his gut. Maybe it's the anger, maybe its the tea."

"Do you resent her?"

"W-what? No! No I couldn't, she's great. She's strong, beautiful, kind. What do I have to resent?"

"she sent you away and you feel like you failed her."

"Failed her? FAILED HER? I DIDN'T GET THE CHANCE TO FAIL HER!"

The fire flares up and the burning in his gut has spread under his skin.

"She didn't even give me the option to fight for her. She said she loved me then she left me. Without even a chance to help I lost her."

"She loved you. She didn't want to lose you. Is that so wrong? What is your issue here? What feelings are you trying to hide from?"

"I'm not hiding anything! She did what she felt she had to do, she..she..."

"Say it. Tell me what you really feel. Let it out."

"SHE WAS SELFISH! She didn't want to risk losing me and feeling this pain, this loss. But she didn't give a seconds hesitation to leaving us!"

There's a golden glow in the room and it's not coming from the fire. It's weak and stuttering and slow, but jaunes aura is aglow.

"We should respect those we lose but that doesn't mean ignoring their flaws and mistakes. She hurt you my boy. It's ok to acknowledge that."

Jaune still feels like he should defend Pyrrha somehow.

"And you're a expert on hurt?"

For once in the conversation the old man puts down his tea.

"I was young once, angry, in pain. I thought the world was my enemy because of the actions of a few. I sought to burn down everything around me. And I did. I had no friends who could stand to be near me, no family who would claim me. I burnt every bridge I had. And when I had nobody else I could hurt I could only turn that rage inwards."

He stares into the fire.

"I spent a long time alone examining the worst parts of myself. The parts I didn't want to see or tried to refuse were a problem. Eventually I smoothed those raw and jagged edges of my soul until I became a person I could stand to see in the mirror. So yes. I believe I might qualify as someone who knows hurt."

"I'm sorry."

"I know. It's getting late and the storm still rages. Rest. We'll speak in the morning."

The old man gets up to go deeper in the shack. Probably to bed.

"Wait please. One last thing. Ren just called you Master. What's your name?"

"My name is Zuko."

Well he is a mysterious cryptic old man.

This is a Old Zuko. Well seasoned with life, different world and problems so he developed a bit different. Hell just not being a prince would lead to a bunch of small changes.

Well... Nick being the Doomguy and never taking off his helmet throughout Jaune's childhood might be amusing.

The skills of the other members of RWBY and JNPR in cooking varies, but Pyrrha and Weiss are terrible. Like, they'll burn the pot and water. Ruby puts too much sugar into everything. Anything that's not fish, Blake ruins. Ren and Nora are competent, of course, but Nora likes to experiment. And Yang's puns are unending and her temper can get out of hand with how competitive she gets.

So every class with RWBY and JNPR is a disaster and Jaune is finding that he has to go full "Leader Mode" to keep things in order (And to keep himself from trying to kill his friends).

Random idea: RWBY and JNR would have become like a family, a found family, nakama, etc. The Atlas Arc would have been a good place for a family argument. I mean, pretty much anything would have been better than what we got but bear with me.

Ruby, following Oscar's lead, doesn't want to tell Ironwood about the Relic and Salem's immortality. Blake doesn't like Atlas so she follows them, Qrow follows Oz's lead. Weiss is a bit more divided but she will stick with Ruby.

Jaune... Is less than convinced. Could be that he's still resentful of Ozpin with how he treated Pyrrha, could be that he thinks this will backfire, could be that he thinks keeping this quiet will weaken them, but he decides he's going to tell Ironwood. Ren and Nora back him up, and so does Yang, who, while not kotowing to any authority figures, is less taken in by Ozpin than Ruby after what happened last time he was in charge.

(And she has her brain and will back so she might be less impressed with other adults in her life, but she would agree that keeping this stuff secret is stupid).

The Happy Huntresses are stealing and raiding and being self righteous about it. A Yang written like herself would not automatically sign on with people who were acting like her mom's gang.

(Nor should Blake but her bias against Atlas might override this.)

And you could make it so that Salem's agents are trying to provoke fights between the factions in Atlas to weaken them, which means Ruby, Blake, Oscar, Qrow, and perhaps Weiss are against Ironwood's forces, while Jaune, Yang, Nora, Ren, and Penny are on Ironwood's side.

It's a dilemma. Both sides are right, and both sides are wrong.

And Cinder is taking advantage of this.

And it's not like any of the others would be happy about betraying Ruby.

Jaune was ride or die for Ruby, but he can't just ignore the fact that Ironwood has done nothing to indicate he is a traitor like Lionheart. And he is a team leader in his own right. He doesn't want to do it, NONE of them want to, but he decides he's either a team leader who has to make decisions for the good of his team (and potentially the world) regardless of their feelings, or he's not. And he chooses to make this decision. Even though it will damage his friendship with Ruby, the girl he is ride or die for.

Yang hates going behind her sister's back but she would feel that, as the older sister, she might need to make this decision if she thought Ruby was wrong. Which would hurt Ruby a lot, because it would mean Yang still doesn't fully trust her leadership and will override her if she thinks she knows better.

Nora and Ren aren't happy about going behind Ruby's back either, but if it comes down to it? They will side with Jaune over her if he makes the case to them.

And while Penny is not happy about siding against Ruby, she does have her orders and loyalty to Atlas.

Again that's the point of a dilemma: There aren't easy answers here.

In "Monster Musume", the mermaid girl Mero is hoping for a tragic romance that ends in a tragic and sorrowful way. She hopes the other monster girls will get together with the human male and be very happy, and that her own romance with him will be largely unrequited and end in tragedy.

You know where I'm going with this, don't you? A twist on the Pyrrha cuckqueen trope.

Yang: "Um... Pyrrha, I'm going out with Jaune-"

Pyrrha; "I know! And I'm so happy for you!"

Yang: "Eh? Wait, I thought you were hot for him."

Pyrrha: "Oh yes. I am in love with him... But I want a tragic love that ends in sorrow! Largely unrequited, save for moments of infidelity that test your love with him but ultimately fail!"

Yang: "Huh?!"

Pyrrha: "So I hope you and Jaune are very happy together! I'll make sure of it! You just have to put up with a little infidelity from time to time! And then..." Starry eyed "I'll die all alone with the loss of my love hidden in my heart!"

Jaune: Bursts into the dormroom, where he was listening in from.

Yang: "I guess it's all... Relative?"

Have Watts be a "mysterious ally" to Robin providing knowledge and resources to rob Atlas while at the same time helping Jaques steal the election.

Also have Yang argue with Weiss and Blake pointing out they don't care about whether or not Ruby is right they're only siding with her because it means they can side against Atlas and Jaques.

Ruby and Jaune should also have an huge blowout over this.

Jaune "Look around you Ruby. Lol around all the shit we've been through and tell me Ozpin has a clue about what he's doing. He didn't trust your uncle, Ironwood, or Glynda with the truth and we only found out because you used the relic. What else do you think he's hiding?"

Could also be why Ruby never told Jaune Cinder was in Atlas, especially since she saw how he reacted last time he saw her but not how suicidal he was or if she heard it second hand. Ruby wasn't part of the Pyrrha statue scene so if Yang or Weiss told Ruby about how Jaune doesn't care if he dies for them...

Kinda getting sick of the usual cuck tropes and the cuck being portrayed as pathetic in every way and a failure as a person (everyone is entitled to their kinks, even if I don't share them).
What if instead the whole cucking thing is used as somesort of powermove, just for the sake of changing things up a bit.
Like Pyrrha is a "cuck", but that just means that SHE gets to fuck Jaune first, and afterwards when Jaune gets busy with the other women, Pyrrha is sitting in the chair, not pethetically watching on, but with a glass of wine and a good fancy dinner while enjoying the show.

[The Brotherhood of Steel]

Idea that came to mind.

Jaune doesn't make it into Beacon so ends working at a pizza joint frequented by students during the day. At night he's a vigilante.

Starts off as a small fry. Think football padding and a baseball bat stopping crooks. Works his way up to eventually to military gear and stopping Cinder and her plan for the fall of Beacon.

Drives Remnant's equivalent of an old blue volkswagen bug that over the course of the story has had so many parts replaced it's a mix match of different colors.

Meets a weapon salesman that buys mothballe/ prototype/ rejected weapons from the academies and military. (There's even a section made up of entirely scythe rifles) For now we'll call him Sarge.

-Relationship with various characters.

Roman and Neo: After Jaune "Saves" them from a mugging they decide for their own amusement to help him out by introducing him to Sarge and Junior. Later on they start feeding him into that pushes him to investigate the White Fang and Cinder. The figure best case scenario, he finds a way to stop her worst scenario he serves as a sacrificial distraction for the two of them to escape. Friendly towards him throughout the story.

Junior: initially uses Jaune to eliminate his competition by feeding him Intel on them. Eventually helps him start investigating Cinder and Co. Also is the one that eventually unlocks his aura after Jaune gets injured badly.

Malachite Twins: Tease and flirt with Jaune in the beginning and possible one night stand. Help Jaune out several times including bringing him to junior after he gets injured. Possible romance and ending where they enroll in beacon.

Lisa Lavender: starts off as your typical investigative journalist trying to unmask Jaune. Eventually joins the group to investigate and stop Cinder after Roman sends her a cryptic message.

Team RWBY: regulars at the pizza and are friendly towards Jaune even express concern whenever they see him at work with a new injury. Relegated to side characters but drag Jaune into the dock incident when he's helping them search for Blake and the paladin incident when Blake and Sun jump into his car when he's delivering pizza and have him drive away from Roman in the paladin. Jaune getting injured both times actually discourages RWBY from future investigations into the Fang. Goodwitch even threatens to ban them from taking missions and the tournament. This replaces Yangs talk with Blake before the dance about slowing down. Blake visits Jaune instead to apologize.

Ren and Nora: Friendly towards Jaune and start working at the pizza place part time while being students at Beacon.

Pyrrha: frequents the pizza place to visit/ study with Ren and Nora during their breaks. Friendly towards Jaune and potentially helps him train once she finds out he wants to apply for Beacon next year. Another possibility is that she gets "saved" by Vigilante Jaune this leads her crushing on him adopting her own vigilante persona and helping him out.

Trifa: White Fang operative that Jaune helps defects Is the one that brings Jaune to Junior to unlock his aura after he gets severely injured. Starts working at a coffee shop afterwards and joins Jaune crew to stop Cinder. Possible Romance partner.

Sun and Neptune: start hanging out with Jaune after the Mech incident. After becoming Junior detectives they help him investigate Cinder and the white Fang.

Ciel Soleil: Meets Jaune while escorting Penny after the incident at the docks so she can apologizes for getting him involved. However Ironwood assigns her to investigate the identity of the vigilante believing them to be a student or academy aspirant. Eventually finds out Jaune in the vigilante but after Jaune tells her about Cinder she holds off on reporting him and helps investigate. Possible romance.

Qrow: is tasked by Oz and the council to investigate the Vigilante. Doesn't really care so usually just goes drinking. This leads to Jaune encountering his drunk and using that to escape. Also a rumor that he fucks birds starts spreading.

Amber: Gets saved in the end and plays a part in the sequel.


Saph, Adrian and Terra: visit Jaune during the Festival. Terra potentially helps against the cct virus.

May Zedong: is a mercenary instead of a student at Shade encounters Jaune when they're both after the same target. Eventually joins the crew. Possible romance.

The Dance: Roman hints to Jaune that there is going to be an attack on the CCT. Jaune and allies brainstorm and figure out that the most likely night that will happen will be the dance. Jaune sneaks into Beacon pretending he's there to deliver pizza. Vigilante Jaune and Ruby fight Cinder, Ironwood shows up and Jaune barely manages to escape. He changes into a suit and heads to the dance floor to blend in with the students but gets stopped by Ciel and some soldiers. Luckily Sun and Neptune notice him and vouch for him lying that they invited him. They let him go but this leads to Ciel discovering he's the vigilante.

The Breach: occurs mostly the same but Jaune ands Trifa are at the coffee shop and defend civilians, something that Catches Oz's attention.

The Rumor: a recurring Rumor that Qrow fucks birds is constantly brought up around him.


Mech Chase: Jaune is either staking out the white fang meeting or is legit just delivering pizza when Blake and Sun burst into his car and tell him to drive.

Sequel: Jaune and crew either to to Mistral to investigate Lionheart or Vacuo to deal with the crown.

Roman Torchwick was feeling something he really didn't enjoy feeling.

Introspection.

Heh look at that, big word. Bet all his old friends would be surprised to see him with that sort of vocabulary. Of course most of them would also yell at him for being a criminal.

They didn't get it. They had good families, support, money.

He didn't and he needed it. Badly.

He has exactly one good relative and she's his world. (Well her and Neo.)

She's also blind. Blind because they were too poor to afford surgery to fix it or replace them.

He tried scraping up money the legal way. He cleaned houses, cooked food, moved packages, anything he could do for a bit of cash.

It wasn't anywhere near enough. Not even when he turned to slightly less legal jobs like moving packages for the spiders or looting abandoned huntsmen corpses.

He failed completely and utterly. No hero underdog story, no sudden windfall or surprise prize money from a tournament.

And Serenity paid for it with her sight.

Well if he couldn't save her eyes he'd at least make her life as comfortable as possible.

So he stole. As much as he could. Changed his name and style so the heat wouldn't blow back on her.

He still sends the money that pays for her care and he will continue to for as long as he can.

Let it be said that Roman Torchwick is scum.

But damn if Joey Wheeler isn't a good brother.
