- Politics: the council voting system I cooked up was a rush job, and upon further inspection kinda shit, as it overwhelms voters with teams from the boonies that will never get voted for, due to cities' overwhelming advantages in population . Obviously, there is no perfect political system, but any advice/recommendations regarding a voting system and the greater council system will be taken into consideration. However, please keep the discussion civil, cause I've seen some stories with 2 chapters get locked cause people couldn't stop yapping for five fucking minutes.
- Expansion: Where should the MC go from here? Should he slow things down, speed things up, get down low or make a big splash? There are many paths, and I want to know your opinions.
- Military: Assuming the Minda System recovers from this attack easily in the near future, and gains a minimum of 50 million credits to spend on ships, attack craft, etc… along with the manpower to crew them, what fleets would you build? How would you organize the defense and trade fleets of the Minda System? This is a hypothetical, because there is a damn good chance the MC never gets there, but theoretical fleet building is fun. What dangers might said fleet encounter in the future? These kinds of questions are fun to answer, so go ham.
- Allegiance: While I already more or less have a plan for how the MC will steer the Minda system allegiance wise(Empire/Rebel/Republic/Pentastar/Independent, etc…) I want to know what direction you think he should lean and why. Anything from moral arguments to pushing profit margins, who should he side with, and why?
2. Slow things down until his current investments pay off and he has some more liquidity. His official power ends at the end of the system. Use his initial success to reach out to local systems and their leadership to start networking. See if any of them are people you want to get into business with and invite the likelies to invest.
3. A pile of fixed defenses:
5 v-150 Planet Defender buy good used $5,000,000+??support equipment
? Point defense laser turrets and facilities around the big guns for $?? 2,000,000 reduce costs by using salvaged/surplus
6 used Squadrons of Cutlass 9s $4,680,000 or Kihraxz assault fighters $3,600,000 The Cutlass is a commonly used fighter and a good allrounder, the Kihraxz has lots of aftermarket kits allowing easy customization and opening up the chance of getting into limited production 5-10 years down the line.
2 used Squadrons Y-Wings $1,560,000 credits or Used Rihkxyrk $3,600,000
4 Used Carrack class--$?? $10,000,000 I don't think these ever got an official price but considering everything else
2 Dreadnaught-class heavy cruisers $14,400,000+additional automation
1 Deep Space Recovery Vessel L-2783 $6,500,000 to support logistics and salvaging outside of the system.
1 National Arsenal $2,000,000for production of small arms and a slip to conduct repair and maintenance of ships up to the Carrack. Two mill is not much but its enough to start building the roads, admin buildings, and a couple warehouses creating the basic infrastructure needed.
Total cost if the expensive options are chosen is $48,180,000
A
s for organizing it I would break it up into three flotillas two equal with a Dreadnought and 2 Carracks each, and a third that will have whatever is left generally on detached duty. It was not made clear on what happened to the old Arquitens frigate. On second though I would keep the Dreadnoughts separate and parked in orbit as little more than mobile defense batteries. Then three flotillas built around either a carrack/nebulon and a pair of corvettes for fast response. Eventually add a fast light carrier like a couple Gozantis to provide support. As for what I would do with it I would start by seeding all the local systems with a couple probe droids to keep an eye on things while continuing what he's been doing. Slowly expand the PDF using salvaged equipment before starting to transition to local production of licensed products.
It provides fixed defenses over some of our biggest population centers and some major firepower to stop anything but a major assault. Some will say there should be more corvettes on the list but they are the most common and easiest to acquire so getting the heavy metal while we can is a priority. The majority of enemies we will face in the short and medium term are unlikely to be intimidated by corvettes and a couple Dreadnoughts in orbit will do more to secure the system than a dozen corvettes. Their operating cost can be minimized by keeping them parked in orbit most of the time.
The current pirate attack seems to have been put together before they knew we reinforced the defenses and should have left after seeing the size of the defense fleet. The defense of the system should be the priority for the PDF while we should let Veers off the leash on local pirates. Switch the Nebulons and Carracks out on convoy escort duty every now and then. As for what dangers might said fleet encounter in the future? Pirates and Rebel privateers will be the most likely at the moment and going into the future until the death of the emperor. Then you have rogue Moffs, Warlords, loyalist fleets trying to reconquer the area from rogues, and then the Vong and other nasties coming out of the Unknown Reaches.

Imperial->Pentastar->Independent
If he advocates anything else but the public line he is likely to be invited to come visit the ISB. Setting himself up as a minor part of the Pentastar Alliance is a possibility depending on what continuity he's in and will set him up if things disintegrate and he has to declare independence. There is no way he can realistically build up enough in a freshly colonized system to be more than a bit player unless he goes to the Emperor and tells him everything he knows, but that is more likely to end up badly for him.
As for why? The north will either end up under the Pentastar Alignment or split between an ineffectual NR and independent worlds. Working under the PA isn't a bad deal and if the PA is not a thing and you are in Disney then having the firepower to standoff pirates will be needed.
