With 75% done Issei has understood enough of how the Evil Pieces work that, together with Bright's help, he can start working in his own version. As of now the final product will have the following effects:

-Make possible to reach Essence 5 for those who normally shouldn't be able to, like humans
-Make possible to learn Celestial Martial Arts.

The rest, and how the final product will look like...well, I think you discussed the subject at great length, yes ;) ?

Since Issei is supposed to have worked on it in the past six days, the effective amount of time for this choice is 10 days.
Alexander is saying we NEED to decide now.
 
What do we actually need to decide on in regards to our empowerment-items? Just what they look like? Or some other stuff like mechanics as well?

I'm going to do no one any favors and reopen the debate. I personally like something with a bit of flavor. Even if you don't vote for this, I encourage you to write up something interesting, or vote for something interesting.

Creating a pactio is a sorcerous ritual. Like all such rituals, it has prerequisites.

Prerequisites:
  • Essence 34
  • Occult 34
  • Celestial Sorcery
  • Craft 3
Pactio Creation:
  • Cost: 5 motes, 1 (temporary) willpower
  • Duration: Permanent
Ritual:

The ritual is consummated in a ritual circle. It requires the swapping of body fluids. Exchanging blood works just as well as sex.

Effects:
  • Removes the essence limits and qualifies the receiver for CMA
  • Grants Exalted training times for attributes and skills (where better)
  • Makes the receiver age like a solar does (functionally unaging past prime until close to death, which now goes to the typical Solar lifespan if better)
  • Specify an attribute chosen at creation
  • Specify a skill chosen at creation, treat this skill as favored for purposes of training
  • Store up to the master's Essence score in artifacts that have been attuned to the receiver
  • Store up to the master's Essence score in separate outfits
  • If the master achieves Essence 5, he may contract spirits to maintain the outfits so that they are resummoned clean and whole
  • Creates a pactio card, the features on the face of the card include
    • A picture of the receiver in the first stored outfit equipped with the first artifact
    • The receiver's name
    • A title composed of the chosen attribute and skill (i.e. Strong Sailor, Enduring Survivalist, etc.)
  • Once a scene the receiver can activate the pactio, which does the following
    • Cost: 1 (temporary) willpower
    • Duration: 1 scene
    • Increases the specified attribute by the difference in Essence score between the master and the receiver. (If the receiver has an equal or higher Essence score, there is no benefit.)
    • Grants telepathy to the master and all other activated pactios that belong to the same master
    • Optionally summons an outfit and an artifact
    • Allows access by the receiver to the master's reflexive charms or known instant effects a number of times equal to the receiver's Essence score (they are basically channeling their master). The receiver must pay any applicable cost. The available charms must be chosen at activation time and cannot exceed the receiver's Essence score.
  • Once a scene the master can activate the pactio, which does the following:
    • Cost: 1 mote
    • Duration: 1 scene
    • Grants telepathy from the master to the receiver (add flavor that the receiver can choose to decline if it bothers you)
    • Grants a temporary purchase of Ox Body (of any type) to the receiver (it might make sense to scale this with master's or receiver's Essence score)
    • For the price of a reflexive or an instant plus one additional mote, invoke the reflexive as if the receiver invoked it
    • The receiver can be summoned to the master once per activation

Hm... for the looks, I like the idea of crystal spheres that light up to show the Solar castemark that the holder/recipient most strongly resonates with in terms of skill, personality, etc.

Mechanically, though, I have no idea. Not exactly my strength.

I remember Tarot, Fate/Stay and Zodiac ideas, but the whole debate flew over my head because I don't care about the topics discussed there enough to know more than that it is anime and some weird mystic stuff respectively.

Let people make suggestions for a day, Alexander gathers them, then people vote on it. Same thing with the mechanics, afterwards. Probably would be the easiest way to go about it overall.

Okay, problems that are not opinions in no particular order: we do not have, and are not going to gain anytime soon, Celestial circle sorcery. So this is useless to us. Celestial sorcery requires occult and essence four, so your requirements are redundant. Solars live in their primes for much longer than one thousand years. Bright was probably somewhere in the neighborhood of four or five thousand years old and only died to treachery. She was still going strong. Possibly she's even older than that actually, time wasn't linear in Creation until the First Age and as one of the original Solars she predates it by quite a bit. "Solar training times" doesn't make any sense. They don't train any faster than regular people. Attributes can't be favored, only abilities. If, when using the word essence, you mean the Essence stat rather than the energy that is spent to use magical effects then please capitalize the word as is proper. "Increases the specified attribute by the difference in essence" What difference in whose essence?
 
Just........ make it into generic table game piece like Go and carved the Solar sigil on one side, with Issei's sigil on the other.
 
I personally don't care too much about how it works, or what it looks like.
 
There was the idea of making the pieces as part of a dragon.

Wings, Claws, Fangs..... I forgot the other two.

It's fine that you don't like the Pactio system. I'm not asking that people vote for the Pactio system necessarily, I'm asking that they write something up in some detail. I've seen discussion of thematics, but next to no discussion of mechanics.

I'm not particularly interested in voting for Fate/Tarot if someone can't tell me why there is a limit of major arcana/one per class restriction or mechanically what the arcana/classes do. Similarly I'm not a big fan of chess pieces either, for the same numeric restrictions, the themed power boosts seem easy enough. The pactio system as proposed explicitly side steps that. (IIRC, one of Issei's motivations is to have a harem of at least 10 girls, and we already have more females floating around and interested. I'm not sure I like the idea of limiting our options.)

There was some discussion around power sets for Fate. But I don't think anyone agreed on anything.

Tweaked the Essence and Occult ratings to be explicitly redundant (4 and 4 respectively). Unless I misunderstand, we already have Essence 4, and Occult 4. We have a tutor that could teach us Celestial Sorcery. Thematically it seems correct that making baby solars/celestials should require Celestial Circle Sorcery.

As far as Solar lifespans go, I thought I saw that they were good for a thousand or more but needed to do something to increase past that. Either way, tweaking to typical Solar lifespan is easy enough.

As far as training times go, I think they are running on different systems, call it Exalted training times.

Will tweak the wording some more to capitalize Essence. Will remove the term "favored ability".

If you hadn't noticed, the pactio system can be used as an erstaz sentai or magical girl transformation substitute. I for one would love to see Rias and company in outfits from Sailor Moon (if they're into that).

Which lets him learn Terrestrial Sorcery.

And then he has to master Terrestrial sorcery to Bright's satisfaction and undergo the Trail of Sacrifice again to learn Celestial Sorcery.

It's not a quick process. It's going to be a very long time before we do it.

You are correct.

Thematically it sucks that we would be making baby celestials without getting to Celestial Sorcery first.

I guess if Alexander is willing to give us the top three things for "free", that's fine. It does feel overpowered, even for this game though.

I have just the last three weeks reading all of the threads of God Harem King. I have one thing to say: THIS IS GLORIOUS!

That said, I've been kind eagerly looking forward to this particular arc of DxD.

That said, given that the evil pieces system has been brought up again, I do have a suggestion. How about we first determine what we want our system to do?

A fair portion of every project initially is get what are the requirements.

For the most part, it seem that we seem that we will want to apply it to our Harem, which will have a minimum of 10 members with no hard cap insight. This is in addition to any individual that we determine worth of becoming part of our Retinue.

The next point that pops up is our desire to teach others celestial level martial arts, which is something that only Celestial level exalts (Solar, Lunar, Alchemical, Siderials, Abyssals and Infernals) and Spirit (gods, demons, Elementals and such) of high enough essence can do. This mean that we would need to increases the essence cap on our mortal followers and Harem.

Those, mind you, are the ones that come of the top of my head.

I think our version of the Evil Pieces should resemble something unique. Tell me, what kind of board games were played in Exalt? That would certainly make our invention unique.

Also, what kind of attributes can we give these pieces? I want the requirements for the pieces to be a bit low enough for all of our Solar Half-Caste to receive.

The only Creation/Exalted-unique game I'm aware of is Gateway, which is never really explained anywhere. I think the only thing known about it is that it's a board strategy game.

Not sure if we should keep the game-theme, though. Don't see any reason for it.
