Video Games General

It's a given at this point as Owlcat confirmed that the gameplay is still in the pre-Alpha stage. We have some time before we can push the limits of our Warants of Trade. The more immediate 40k games on the way are Darktide from Fatchark this September and Shootas, Blood & Teef (an orky run&gun from the makers of Guns. Gore and Canoli) in Orktober. Also a boomer-shooter titled Boltgun is in the works for next year.

The Blood&Teef teaser has the 'Drive me closer' fellow in it I believe.

Nice to see new visuals even if it's just to put it on steam.

Looks interesting but as always I'm leery of Early Access games due to having gotten burned too many times. Still, $10 isn't too bad even if it flops.

I want to play Sword of the Stars 1 due to the different FTL types[1] but the graphics are so old. It's really sapping my enthusiasm not to mention I have no idea what I'm doing.

[1] I liked how Stellaris used to have different types but then they just went with hyperlines which is boring as shit. Haven't touched the game in ages since like 2.6

Street Fighter 6 got announced and there were leaks pretty much the same day. I like some of the character designs that were leaked (Juri and A.K.I especially), but I'm not really sure I vibe with the direction they're going visually or with what seems to be an open world. The did announce a pretty cool in-game commentary feature, though, and I can't wait for the mods for that.

From the looks of it, I think the open world stuff features us taking control of a user created avatar like in Soul Caliber.

Honestly I'd actually say the graphics for SotS actually held up pretty well all things considered. Sure they're not modern ultragood graphics but they're not bad even now. Unfortunately I can't really help you much on the "idea what you're doing" department because I'm not particularly good at that game either.

Stellaris wound up changing it because the "go wherever whenever" drive type was both blatantly better then the two others and made strategic play fundamentally impossible because you could just go wherever you wanted so there was 0 point in fortifying a particular system over the others. It also made wars really shitty because the ai and you could just run around all over the place and never fight a decisive battle. It was honestly just really annoying, especially with how wars and expansion in general sucked because they made you weaker by making your research slower.

Big surprise from Warhammer Skulls. Owlcat Games, the makers of Pathfinder: Kingsmaker and Wrath of the Righteous is now working on a new CRPG in the Warhammer 40,000 universe based on the Rogue Trader RPG.

Blergh. I really dislike Kingmaker, so I don't have high hopes for this.

Stray is up for pre-sale on Steam. Gameplay looks to be mostly puzzle platformer with some stealth and RUNRUNRUNRUN segments.

Also, you play as a cat, so it's got my vote.

So, I've played Chrono Trigger off and on, multiple times in multiple versions, for the last twenty years.

And I just now figured out the Hunting Grounds are there. Every other time I either pressed on under-equipped... Or farmed the Forest Maze.

Just... wow I feel dumb.

Look at it from a glass is half full perspective. After all this time you doscov something new about this game you love so much.

I do, but I still feel like a dum-dum.

Especially as I remember once entering and exiting the Forest Maze several dozen times trying to get it to rain.

Did find and beat the Nu, though I'm not sure I'll ever use the Third Eye.

South Park the Fractured But Whole: Other than grinding General Bio-Hazard via toilets and crafting it into Artifacts, is there any good way to grind money? The best artifacts I can sell currently are the Necro Clamps and the Scarab of R'Lyeh, the Clamps sell for more... I think.

Edit: The Clamps do sell for more. They go for $3.00 each and the Scarabs sell for $0.60 each, so the Clamps sell for 5X as much for the Scarabs. Both use Duct Tape/Glue (They have the same price so... eh.) and the Clamps need 40 more Bio-Hazard.

I know I can ruin through a section of town and hit things to get other crafting materials and money from Parking Meters, I'm looking for viable alternatives. I'm pretty sure the Infinite Money Glitch doesn't work on the Switch, so please don't suggest that unless you know for a fact that it does work on the Switch.

I just got back to Dyson Sphere Program after a couple of months binging on the Stalker series. While the content updates are fewer than I expected, alot has changed. My favorite one though is that you can now customize your mech avatar with a somewhat extensive editor to look like RX-78 Gundam for example. Its just not a simple cosmetic change as the avatar switch costs ingame materials.

Got back to playing Rogue Legacy 2, since it's been 1.0 for a while. Bought it right as it came into Early Access, played here and there- though the last time was around when the Sun Tower went up.

Got to the end today on Thread 0. Only beat The Traitor because the very first artifact I picked up was the one that rezzes you once with 50% health.

I did... not expect the twist.

Couldn't beat Cain, though. He and Jonah should be easier next time though, now that I know their moves.

Honestly kinda blitzed through the game in Thread 0- a few mishaps (mostly trait-related) aside. I'd had it at Thread 1 because I completed all available content at the time, but I couldn't even beat Lamech, so I turned it back down.

Is it worth getting? I'd played the first though never finished it.

If you enjoyed the first, it's more of the same. A bit more polished, more class options, a bit more balanced.

A bit more plot, though it didn't really all make sense to me until just now.

The bonus versions of the bosses do NOT force you into a particular loadout, which is nice- though you can only access the ones past the first by turning up the NG+ level, which raises the difficulty quite a bit. The first one is quite difficult enough on its own.

I haven't found any real cheese strats, like the Necro-Raven combo from the first one.

You can infinitely raise your stats, after a bit, buuuuut you'll still probably have to Git Gud.

Picked up Albion off GoG. Still on sale for 1.50 right now.

Old Dosbox game about a shuttle pilot crashing onto an alien planet. Was supposed to be a Mars-like world high in resources, and the Toronto was supposed to land there and convert itself into a giant automated factory to mine them and launch them back.

Instead, it's a planet inhabited by intelligent, if primitive, creatures, the Iskai.

...Now that I think about it, this game may have inspired the design of the aliens from Avatar. They're tall and furry, though their faces are a bit too far into the furry spectrum to actually look good. Your 'nurse' goes topless though, I'm assuming that's standard, so that's nice.

I've only played far enough to wake up after the crash, but from what I have gathered so far, I expect the corp you work for already knew this was an inhabited planet. Of the two government agents on board, one apparently died messily the night before (a supposed accident,) and the other was with you for the crash- possibly with the intent to get rid of him, but you both survived. I imagine he's probably going to die shortly and our quest will be to stop the Toronto and it's AI, Ned, from destroying the place in pursuit of profit.

The graphics are actually pretty decent for as old as it is. I do have a question though- I've hardly messed with Dosbox, does anyone know how to change the emulator's window size? I can get a teeny window or fullscreen it, nowhere in between. Window's too small to use, and my monitor's waaaaay too big for that much pixellation to look great.

The most important question is does Chun Li still have thighs you can crack a solid metall ball with?
