Is Diana also on Themyscira?

I remember that after Paul found that Themyscira disappeared the League told Paul that Diana thought it was still existing, but it just disappeared.

Yeah, of they're going to an afterlife then ghosts are very likely.

Thana stands on the shore-. Noticeably closer to Alan than to me, which is… A little insulting, but pretty fair, really

She does know him better.

Plus after AL Equation anyone that radiates hope will be someone you want to be close to.

"Donna?"

She pulls back from the water she was about to dive into? "Yeah?"

"Do you..? Actually get direct feedback from the titans when you do that?"

"How do you mean?"

"I mean, do they directly speak to you, with words?"

She frowns. "Why do you-?"

Then her eyes widen slightly, and she raises her right hand in a warding gesture.

"No."

"What

The correct response to have when Paul asks a question.

Though… Persephone appeared in Brazil. Could Euanthe open a gate there

Probably not.

Persephone is a goddess that may have been granted some authority over Erebos by Hades.

Euanthe is a super powerful Dryad, she may not even know how to go about doing it.

**Yes, I'm sure.** The bio-ship descends to land on the shore of Alcyonian Lake as M'gann confirms that, yes, she is actually a superhero. **Connor's Mom is still stuck… Somewhere because of this. And you all helped out on M'arzz.**

I feel Kon's combination of gratitude and awkwardness. **M'gann, I've got Helios's blessing, and Paul's Eris's favorite guy ever.**
That's probably a bit of an exaggeration, but he does cause lots of chaos, and is one of her few modern worshippers. Honestly, the only problem she has with him is his scry wards, making it so that she can't watch him directly...

**That's probably not true.**

Alan shakes his head at me as we descend to float over the surface of the lake. **Don't do yourself down, Paul.**
See? The wise and hopeful man gets it. Heck, she had a specific response contingency set up for a specific line that only he would have uttered. I bet she doesn't do that for just anyone.

**You don't think your gods will like me?**

**Ah, no, no, that's not it. But you remember how Paul used to get when he got exposed to magic?**
They'd probably be fascinated by someone so Protean. Especially if they learn that Mars has a relatively quiet pantheon and there are potential converts about.

**You mean like he was drunk? You think that could happen to me?**

**Maybe. You aren't as protected as I am, or Paul or Donna are.**
Honestly, I'd also be worried about Match, since his purer kryptonian biology is more vulnerable to magic than a human.

I feel Mitchell's eye-roll. **But you're fine with me coming along. Thanks, Con. Really feeling the brotherly love.**

**Ah-.**
And I see they maybe forgot that where Mitchell didn't. :V Nice response, though. Shows how far he's developed since being decanted.

**No, no, I get it.**

**I just-.**

I get a mental picture of it as M'gann's eyebrows rise. **So you just don't think that I can handle it?**
Danger, Superboy, danger! High risk relationship question detected!

Then I hear the mental laughing.

**This isn't funny. Mitchell and me are a lot tougher than you, and there are plenty of things we could run into who aren't affected by telekinesis.**
Ah, if only this were the Renegade's M'gaan, with her unlocked Red magical potential...

**Then if we run into those things, I'll back off.** The bio-ship lands, and the rear hatch opens. **But until then, I'm coming.**

Perhaps tired of the soap opera, Donna is the first to fly out, landing over by a small copse of trees. "Thana?"
She's always seemed a bit more mature than most of the team, after all. And is college-age by now, so she's a bit past the teenage drama thing.

There's a slight shimmer as Thana removes Lord Hades' helmet from her head and steps out. "Princess Donna?

Donna nods. "Alan decided to call me in."
Well, at least divinely-empowered artifacts still function. Then again, they can probably run off local magical energies...

Thana… Looks around owlishly. "No, I meant-. I can only see as well in the dark as a normal woman, and your raiment looks like the night sky. I can't see where you are."

"Oh, right." Donna turns to me. "Paul, could you-?" I generate a giant orange floodlight. "Thanks."
It's actually surprising how hard it is to hide in the dark. Black actually stands out under most low-light conditions. Dark blues, reds and greys work a lot better.

"Ah!" Thana smiles and starts walking towards the bio-ship as the rest of the team pile out. "Prince Kon-El. Prince Mitchell Kent. Miss Martian. How… Many of you can breathe water?"

M'gann shoots a smug glance at Kon. "I can!"
So the gateway is underwater? I suppose that's one way to keep errant visitors away, unless they have Beowulf-like lung capacity. (Surprised some DC hero hasn't used that name yet...)

I raise my right hand and Alan nods. Mitchell smiles and shakes his head while Kon frowns.

"Wait, there's actually a way into Erebos under the water? I thought that was just a myth."
Well, Shades aren't exactly going to be bothered by the trip on their way to the great rivers.

"It was a gateway." Thana walks towards the shoreline and Donna drifts behind her. "Lord Hades closed it during the forties after the Germans tried to carry out a ritual here. I believe that the magics which Lord Hades has shared with me will allow me to reopen it."

Kon glances at the lake. "Okay, so what do you need-. You can't breathe under water."
And she'd presumably like a life support method other than filling her mouth with a SCUBA apparatus, because there are magic words to be said?

"No, Prince Kon-El. I will need your help getting deep enough to perform the ritual."

"And… What if it doesn't work?"
Huh. Sounds like it was deep down. And even a near-superhuman like an Amazon can't get around the physical limits of unprotected diving, huh?

"Then it doesn't work, and we are no worse off than we are now."

"Actually, we're better off, because we'll know something about how the relationship between Earth and Erebos has changed." I sigh. "If only we had enough thaumaturgists to actually do something about it."
I mean, surely there's someone in the trenchcoat brigade you can track down. Ambrose Bierce, perhaps, or Willoughby Kipling? :p Or perhaps some other unlucky chain-smoking street magician OC who gets confused for John Constantine, given that there always seems to be one around.

Thana stands on the shore-. Noticeably closer to Alan than to me, which is… A little insulting, but pretty fair, really. He makes a platform and floats it towards the centre of the lake once she steps onto it.

"Is there anything you need the rest of us to do?"
Plus, he is a lot nicer on the eyes for mature ladies like Amazons.

"I am not completely sure that the angry shades that the Germans conjured were ever pacified. That was why I came here."

Alan nods. "You want us to watch your back."
So, anti-magical weaponry and devices at the ready.

She nods as he extends a bubble over her head. M'gann shifts her neck so that it has gills and dives into the water, her eyes already growing to see better in the dark. Donna drops to the surface of the water and mutters a prayer-. Interesting that her patrons are still answering her. Or… Maybe it's something built into her instead? Did Cronus have traces of his siblings' magic and use that on her? Probably doesn't matter, but…

"Donna?"
Would be amusing if she's asking Oceanus for water-breathing.

She pulls back from the water she was about to dive into? "Yeah?"

"Do you..? Actually get direct feedback from the titans when you do that?"
I would presume it's like any clerical spell: The magical equivalent of PM'ing a request to the god and them going 'eh, okay' and dropping the effect on the intended recipient. No further contact necessary...

"How do you mean?"

"I mean, do they directly speak to you, with words?"
...I mean, that might be an accessible route to reach Tartarus, I guess? Be a bit tricky to tap into, though.

She frowns. "Why do you-?"

Then her eyes widen slightly, and she raises her right hand in a warding gesture.
Aw, hesitant at the thought of OL offering some advice about clever power usage?

Or perhaps it's a bit more serious than that? I mean...

Donna dives into the water. Kon snorts in amusement as he and Mitchell attach their breathing equipment.

"She heard about the Justice League taking over the world. I guess she doesn't want you to blow her mind twice in one day."
...He does have a knack for that sort of world-shaking philosophical rhetoric.

"Do you actually want an environmental shield, or are you fine-?"

"If you wanted her to talk to you, you shoulda told Cat Grant 'no comment'."
And pass up the chance to look smart on public TV? Man, you do not OL as well as you thought, Kon.

"By now I thought that everyone realised that I was a course hazard."

I extend my environmental shield to Kon and Mitchell and together we fly down through the water. They face downwards while I remain in a standing position, shrugging at Mitchell when he flashes me an interrogative glance.
Hey, when your flight power is able to give a big middle finger to things like air resistance, why should water be any different. :p

I pull a runestone out of a pouch and give it a wave-around. Higher than normal background magic, but nothing special. On the other hand, gateways don't necessarily need all that much raw power.

Though… Persephone appeared in Brazil. Could Euanthe open a gate there? Or could Sanderson open a portal to the Dream? I'm not sure that the gate from Erebos to the Dream works in both directions, but if we've got the time to focus on it then it would be worth a go.
'Don't need much power', especially if they're locked shut, either. As for the Dream, I suspect another visit might get a face-to-face meeting with the Lord of the Realm, whether you were aiming for one or not.

Wait a… Second…

"Hey, Alan! I think I've got a solution to our-!"

TEETH!
Ah, interrupted by the cliffhanger. :V

So... Who or what do those teeth belong to, I wonder? A passing shark? A Nazi soldier's corpse, ambulatory or otherwise? Or perhaps a spirit with a sense of humour and comedic timing? I do wonder what OL's little 'solution' might be, and to which problem they're currently facing. Since there are still a lot of them at this point. It's been a busy new year for this Earth, after all...

She may like them.

If she can observe him then she may be able to predict him and that would be so boring.

Does Mars even have gods in this story?

I remember that H'ronmeer, who was a god in the comics, was just a sorceror in this story.

So the gateway is underwater? I suppose that's one way to keep errant visitors away, unless they have Beowulf-like lung capacity. (Surprised some DC hero hasn't used that name yet...)

I think renegade Billy is using that as an alias since he's wielding the sword up Beowulf when he's not Captain Marvel.

They may not be able to do much.

They're more like tinkerers with magic rather than scientists like the Atlanteans.

Would be amusing of she's asking Oceanus for water-breathing.

Oceanus wasn't the only divine connected to water.

And pass up the chance to look smart on public TV? Man, you do not OL as well as you thought, Kon.

Now if only he was smart.

I'll try to avoid doing that, but major changes to Justice League operating practice is a long term thing and not something that can be 'completed' in a couple of days.

If there's a plot thread I forgot about or dropped that you want to see more of, please let me know what it is.
I'd really like to see more of Euthane and the Accala them taking over Brazil has great story potential and I'd also like to see Barry in therapy or at least recovering since he killed the Sheeda Queen.

Is Diana also on Themyscira?
No. The SI and Co. went there briefly and didn't encounter her.
I'd like to know what happened to all those different Supergirls.

Interceptor may be back on her Earth and Kara 666 is probably getting extreme therapy, but what about that Silver Age version?

Who was trying to kill them and why?
That's still in progress. Silver Age is around, just not doing anything with the SI at the moment.
Look, if I have to deal with Rule 8, so does everyone else.
I'd really like to see more of Euthane and the Accala them taking over Brazil has great story potential and I'd also like to see Barry in therapy or at least recovering since he killed the Sheeda Queen.
Thing is, those aren't things that the SI would have anything to do with. Brazil has already ceased to be. The only issue that could involve him would be the intact countries in the area trying to stop their tribal people aligning with Accalacan, or otherwise sorting out their borders. And therapists are in short supply at the moment.

One plot point I'm curious about is Savitar? There was that mission in Russia ages ago where he was hinted at and then nothing. Is there still a plan for him?

also would like to see more Light and Truggs shenanigans, like what they plan to do with the dial they stole, etc.

also would like to see more Light and Truggs shenanigans, like what they plan to do with the dial they stole, etc.
The Hero Dial was already recovered. Paul got it when Silver Age Kara helped capture Truggs. Although Truggs escaped while they were dealing with Demon Supergirl, he wasn't able to get the Hero Dial back from Paul.

Yes.

The Light are still around, but for the moment they're trying to make sure that human civilisation doesn't collapse on them.

How do they feel about the fact that the Justice League has accidentally taken over the world?

Maybe they're jealous.

Though I can see Luthor trying to run a political campaign in the future in which he runs on a platform of "Taking back humanity's right to rule itself" so that he can take over and disband the League.

They already had one super-powered person rule them, so it's possible that some resentment towards other super-powered rulers could be created.

Yeah, the League did help the world, but people can have short memories and bigots aren't logical.

How do they feel about the fact that the Justice League has accidentally taken over the world?
The Light doesn't actually want to kill the Justice League. Honestly, from their point of view the problem isn't that the Justice League has taken over, it's that people appear to be happy about that.

Americans, how do you make instant coffee into a drinkable format? I ask because I'm given to understand that you can't use kettles in your country due to crap power supplies. Do you microwave the water?

I use a kettle to make tea and heat it by putting in on the stove, so please stop perpetuating negative stereotypes, you're supposed to be a hero. My parents have a brewing machine at home, though they're a bit obsessive about it so IDK if that's normal. Usually it's coffee machines of one sort or another, my girlfriend uses a keurig.

You have coffee machines for instant coffee?

Not sure if serious or not, but its a machine that runs hot water through a small coffee pod.
black_720x.png
This is essentially what my mother uses. Just fill it with water, put in a coffee pod and use it.
My dad has an electronic kettle that he uses to heat water for his powdered canned coffee. It has its own stand alone base that plugs in, no stove required.

Canadian Here, and a college grad in Electronics. We have the same power requirements as the Americans and I've had this talk a few times with a fellow electronics nerd from Italy that now lives in the US of A.

Long Version: Electric kettles work just fine here.
They are just a touch slower then the same sized kettle across the pond because of that difference in electrical standards. Not agonizingly slow, and honestly just having a bit less water in the kettle when you start makes up the difference without really noticing.

Since it's just the way it is here, most folks in North America just don't know that there IS a difference until they visit some place out of country. I use an electric range and oven all the time, and aside from the hydro bill being worse then a gas bill this far north, there's not much difference to really note, as hot is hot and degrees are degrees. It might take a bit longer to warm up then you'd expect if you're used to it else where, but between the differences in just ovens and stoves you aren't used to I'm fairly sure the average person wouldn't even note the difference on first blush.

The electrical devices Made for the standards here work for the standards here. The real problem is when you try to build something that does both. A PC has a switching power supply that can generally be used with either, and it's regulated down to DC voltages any way, so it doesn't matter. Most reasonably complicated electronic devices that can run on either power type has a similar regulator.

Those simpler, cheaper items that don't have such features instead have to trade efficiency for adaptability, and electric kettles being 'big resistor gets warm' is one of the simplest and cheapest electronic devices on earth. There is no adjustment for what power comes it, it'll take what ever you put in because there is no logic or real calibration to it, just a big coil and a thermal cut off switch which is generally mechanical in nature. Since the makers design it to be safe to use in either set of standards, they over engineer the size of the coil so it's safe at the worst case, and ok at the best case. So you get a slightly slower, less power efficient design that saves the cost of having to make 2 different designs in the first place (aside from the change of the plug / socket).

Americans, how do you make instant coffee into a drinkable format? I ask because I'm given to understand that you can't use kettles in your country due to crap power supplies. Do you microwave the water?
Well, I'm not sure how many Americans do it this way as I'm a weirdo, but what I usually do is put something like a quarter to a third of a cup of water in the microwave for thirty seconds, then stir in a variable amount of instant coffee powder depending on how tired I am, and an amount of sweetener (often honey or maple syrup) to balance the taste of the coffee, and then add enough cold milk of some sort (usually almond) to both cool it off and get close to the top of the cup without spilling. If I'm really tired or can't use the microwave, I just stir the instant coffee powder into half a cup of cold water and choke it down once I think it's dissolved (or once I notice that I've been standing there stirring coffee and staring off into space for an unknown time period).

You have coffee machines for instant coffee?
I think most Americans use some sort of coffee machine, like my mother does. They're all over the place here, including many hotel rooms.

Relatively few Americans can't tell the difference between metal and plastic, or fail to notice an electrical plug (if that's the meme I'm thinking it is), it's just that the ones who can't will tend get on the news or get memed on the internet, if not both. It's notable because it's unusual.

EDIT: For clarity, we do have tea kettles here. They are metal, and are heated the traditional way, by setting it on one of the burners of a stove. Sometimes a second-hand gas stove. That is most likely what tripped up the American who caused that particular meme.

Sharkteethserpentheaddodge!

I generate a shield as I lurch to the side, Kon and Mitchell evading in different directions as the giant thing lunges past us!

Kon looks at me. **What was that?**

The neck-. Ah, isn't there..? And the head that lunged for us appears to have faded away. Mitchell tries a blast of heat vision, and then recoils as he discovers why that's a bad idea underwater as his entire body is enveloped in steam.

**Went through my shield.** Which I dismiss. **Alan?**

**Giant snake head with no neck? Yeah, I've got one o'those, too. Goes right through the constructs.**

**Thana, what exactly did the Nazis-. West!**

I'm moving as Kon and Mitchell look westward, the snake head thing coming right at them again! Kon tries-. I tether Mitchell and pull him downwards out of its path as Kon glows with the light of Helios and swings at the swimming head with his right fist.

**Ah!**

His fist goes through, but from the way he jerks-. He's bleeding from small wounds all across his torso.

**-summon?**

**Conner!**

M'gann swims towards him with a shout, but he raises his right hand to warn her off.

**I didn't hit anything, but its teeth could still hurt me. Don't touch it.**

**Thana?**

**They didn't-. I mean, everything. They just tried to summon up the shades of the dead. But I don't know what that is.**

**Can you tell how strong it is?**

**It feels-. Strong, but it shouldn't be strong enough to threaten someone as powerful as you.**

**How sure are-**

It comes at us again, this time from.. down-east. Mitchell, Kon and M'gann all evade but I decide to use a magic-draining construct shield. Link it to my tattoos, and see how you like that.

From the way that it's still coming at me I'd guess that it doesn't-.

**Paul! Behind-**

I don't hesitate when I hear M'gann's mental voice. I shoot upwards immediately as a second agh!

I'm not sure exactly-. Something sharp raked my left leg, and I'm bleeding from a nasty gash. Healing… Isn't working, which is… Probably due to the death magic rich environment. Shut down the veins manually by r-uh-h-hurrh-.

Yeah, death-. Death magic confirmed.

[Head incoming]

I evade downwards as the first head-. Or maybe a third? Swims at us from the south. I shift my shield into a sword and swing it at its face. It-. Doesn't evade, and-. It flickers as it hits the sword, the construct shattering without really slowing it down. I'm not-. Sure if that actually hurt it, or-.

**Thana!** Kon looks down towards the blue glow marking Alan's position. **This is where Herakles killed the hydra, right?**

**Close to here, yes.**

**You know what a hydra's head looks like?**

**N-no, I never-. Oh gods.**

Oh gods yes. So every head he cut off before Iolaus started burning the stumps could be a separate shade.

**Ah…** I get a mental image of Donna preparing her lasso. **When you said that it didn't feel all that strong, were you talking about each head individually, or all of them together?**

**I only saw one head, so I-. Alan!**

**I see them. No need to fear. I've been fighting monsters-. Ah, well, not as long as some people you know, but longer than most.**

**Princess Diana made no mention of this. Other shades-.**

**Could it eat them? The same way-.**

I feel [disquiet] from Donna. **The way Hades does Erebos. Not-. Consuming, but draining their power with them still inside it.**

Mitchell is looking around with some concern. **Inside them.**

I look around-. Eight of them this time.

**Eight up here.**

M'gann grows extra eyes all over her body and grabs Kon while Mitchell jerks his head around at super speed. I… Ah, scans don't show me anything-. Assemble the pictures from my eyes in the ring and calculate move!

The first passes underneath me, probably aiming at Mitchell but neatly cutting me off from a downwards retreat. The next comes from my left-. They can pass through each other. Then above and down-right-. Dghu, from behind but that's going to miss anyway-.

Wait, that one-.

**They eat spilled blood!**

The blood Kon spilled and the blood I spilled is no longer in the water. Ring scan stopped being able to detect it when the heads swam past. I-.

I roll as heads come in from left, right and front, with one passing just above me. Can't entirely evade, but if the teeth are where they look like they are-. Brr, moving through that one didn't feel pleasant, but I didn't pick up a new wound.

I hear M'gann nervously laugh. **I wasn't trying to bleed, but I'll be extra careful now.**

**Alan, we need to go lower. If the gate still exists, I can force the shade back through.**

**I don't-. I don't suppose you can just tell it to knock it off?**

Left-dodge. Left again. And-. A moment of space.

I turn and try to reach out for its desires but all I hear are echoes and a force running in a groove.

And I'm a little worried about my tattoos absorbing death magic like this.

**I'm trying that. It knows no authority!**

**I can't hear its thoughts.** M'gann looks around. **Should I be able to?**

**Probably not.**

**Okay, slight problem everybody. I'm trying to take Thana down but more heads just keep turning up. Can you distract them or something?**

**Yes. Everyone, move away from me.**

Kon frowns, ducking and weaving around the heads that have scented his wound. **We can-.**

**Spontaneously generate more blood for yourself? No. Move.**

I reopen my wound and increase my blood pressure.

Wonder what would happen if the jcirrent ustice league accepted Titan power ups.

Who would get what?

Aquaman gets Oceanus.

Superman gets the sky so Uranos or maybe sun so maybe Helios.

Wonder woman is already a zeus baby

Batman gets nyx as patron....

They'll be ruling the world so it maybe kinda fits.

Superman gets the sky so Uranos

Uranus may be dead, or at least in no position to do anything.

Wonder woman is already a zeus baby

Not in this story.

She's already a a Titan, or at least a demititan.

They'll be ruling the world so it maybe kinda fits.

Aside from Mr. Atom, most of them probably want governments to be reestablished so that they can stop ruling things.

Thank you, corrected.

There was a Justice League comic where an alien who believed himself to be a god went around destroying religious monuments in an attempt to get Earth's gods to show up and right him. When the League turned up and gave him a good fight, he offered to power them up and work with them.

That should say 'hesitate'.

I don't remember brackets being used like this before. Is this new, or an error?

This is gonna suck for Paul, but good on him for going for a sacrifice play. He won't die, but he'll probably be in great pain.
