XF2 transition feedback

Bugs/Optimisation Issues

Logo
- needs resizing in Light & Dark modes, and the Xenforo logo switched out in the Default mode.
...ironically, each one gives a clue in how to fix the other. The Default has no 'Home' on the header-bar, instead just using the larger Xenforo logo (which still links to QQ home) which is mounted above the header-bar at the top of the page. Ape the same setup with the other skins, with the QQ logo taking the place of the Xenforo logo, and it'll probably be good enough. (Unless you're wedded to the big mostly-empty element at the head of every page like you get on SB/SV/etc. - personally I think its absence is an improvement.)
EDIT: Fixed in Light & Dark modes, via return of big empty element.

Margins - need dynamic adjusting to fit different-sized screens without stretching.
EDIT: Toggle added next to Style Chooser.

Dice roller - broken/missing.
Tabs - broken. [EDIT: Tabs now fixed.]
(Not mentioned yet, but Voter Result - also broken.)
IMG - vanilla bbcode appears broken.
Embeds - various posts have been corrupted, seemingly thanks to newly applied URL true-unfurl not nesting properly into Spoilers.
Lists & Indents - icon(s) missing from both Froala and TinyMCE.
...Though note that the bbcodes for those at least still work.

Old QQ links - broken.
...Specifically: the default link obtained by clicking the [post#] ('threads/[threadname].[thread#]/page-[page#]#post-[post#]') prior to the XF2 upgrade, now redirects to the top of [page#] while ignoring the [post#]. AKA, it'll take you to the right page, but to the top of the page instead of straight to the post you should've skipped to.
The new default setup is 'threads/[threadname].[thread#]/post-[post#]', which of course works fine.
EDIT: Seems fixed, old threadlink works fine now.

Commenting on profile posts/status- bugged.
...Specifically: clicking the comment box to type in it duplicates the box (along with whatever text is inside it at the time). Subsequent clicks (but not typing) generate another duplicate box for each click. (Fortunately, actually hitting Post only posts the comment you were just typing in; but that doesn't clear any of the boxes, which can only be cleared/removed by Refreshing the page.)

Lag - so much lag.
...Most noticeably concerning large images & gifs. Like, I'm seeing tenfold increases in loading time. This may or may not be tied to the new popup feature re. resized pics.

Major XF1->XF2 Issues

Email alerts
- changed.
...As in, 'entire content of post' has been cropped out in favour of a notification & link. Apparently there's a way to restore at least small summaries? I don't know that we can get that whole-post functionality back - or even if QQ legally should, considering the whole porn-straight-to-your-inbox aspect... (Another more recent complaint is that following the link requires you to log in, even if you're already logged in - more details needed.)

Header- there's a header, and it's Sticky-er than you want your header.
...On mobile, it appears to at least work how you'd expect one to work - disappears when you scroll down the page, reappears when you scroll up, etc.. On desktop, it never disappears (and it has the added effect of obscuring the Theadmarks post-header). Adding the Preference option of toggling it on or off is the obvious solution.
EDIT: Toggle added in Preferences.

Auto-scrolling- especially to 'new messages' box on last page of a thread.
...But also common when scrolling down too soon from a link's landing point.

Similar Threads- it's there, you can't collapse it, and you should be able to.
...Also, being able to collapse the 'Users who are viewing this thread' section as well would also be nice - or at least adjust the list of users down to a smaller amount in the same vein as shrinking the number of Similar Threads shown.
EDIT: Similar Threads can now be collapsed. The 'Users viewing' element has also been shifted below the reply box, which is nice.

Style Chooser Issues

XF1 skins
- lost.
...And honestly, I suspect it'll take a while to get any of them back. IIRC they need to be either built from the ground up or whole-hog edited from another skin, so...
EDIT: But they did dash out and grab 4 Blackened skins to tinker with. Still pretty basic as of this 1st large edit (~11-12 hours after posting), notably the logo not being stylised.

Light/Dark skins- bloated.
...It's especially notable at the bottom of each page, with a huge element that's largely duplicate functions of other page-sections: What's New in the header, and Share This Page under the Similar Threads section. Frankly the Forum Statistics section is pretty useless outside of the main page too. Just cut the element if at all possible.
EDIT: Specific complaint now fixed for Light & Dark skins - entire element cut.

Light/dark skins- also need at least some level of tinkering.
...Things like the grey-grey-grey of Dark Mode, at least shifting the in-thread text a lighter shade. And the unnecessarily shrunken text in Quotes. And the dividing line between post-text and signatures, which is damn near invisible. And more colours, for things like links etc.. And the lost Banners (Administrator, Gone For Good, etc.) etc. under the php's/names. And so forth.

There are a few other things. Some are minor QoL losses, that I can take or leave (and will mostly have to take)...
- Loss of default pfp's; also loss of moving pfp's (such as those used by Plotvitalnpc or Arc-on-Fire). We might be able to get the former back, but probably not the latter.
- Loss of XF1 click-on-portrait (in desktop). The main loss here is not being able to get a better look at a given user's pfp without visiting their profile. (This seems to be a mobile-friendliness functionality loss. I don't think we're getting it back.)
- Date/time of post shifted to top from bottom. A minor added layer of annoyance when you need to check the last post's date to see if you're about to necro a thread with your reply.
- Reader Mode shifted down from 30 to 10 posts/page. I think that can be adjusted; in fact, I think the previous reader-mode number might've been a kludge. [EDIT: Comments/page adjuster added in Preferences - only affects standard view, though. Reader Mode now shifted upward to 20 posts/page.]

...while other things were a case of just...y'know, They Changed It Slightly, Now It Sucks And/Or I Can't Find It!.

...

Ah well, we'll see what happens. In the meantime, at least we still have the troll-emoji. It could be worse. :V

(...Also: gotta have a little giggle over the moxy of leaving the Angry reaction available while we're all bitching about the XF2 changeover. [EDIT: And gone, only a couple hours later.])

This list is a godsend, and is exactly what I was hoping to find when I clicked Reader Mode.

Would you mind adding that the [hl]highlight[/hl] bbcode is still broken? (Or maybe I'm missing something and the code for it just changed...)

Testing dice, nothing to see here...

I seem to have lost a lot of watched threads since the update. Before I had about 9 pages of them and now there are only 3. Seems like all the inactive threads that I was watching are now gone. Is there an option under settings that I missed that hid them? Or any other way to recover them?

Thanks

Ugh. Nvm. Fund those little tags that filter content above the list, that I missed before. Seems that it shows only unread watched threads intead of all by default for me.

Alright, so, I swapped the text editor to TinyMCE, and it opened up a ton of features, but currently it removes the save/delete draft options and the smileys. Or, at the very least, I can't find either.

-Is it possible to get the old text color picker behavior back with the holding the last selected color?
Also, the blackened high contrast with blue changed to purple for a theme.
Finally, can the botom bookmark button be moved to the right side on mobile?-

I just noticed the old site was cached on my tablet. I used the blue-greyish/black style, not sure what it is called.

It was so much less cluttered and the colour nuance choices more readable. The new blackened blue doesn't get anywhere near the readability.

Anyone happen to be working on a version that approximate the old one with css or something?

Is there also a way to make the alerts more compact? I already added the fix to remove tags, but would like to remove the Treadmarks text, along with "There may be more posts after this."

When I login, for some reason if I refresh it'll log me out even though I ticked stay logged in...

Ignore thread button could use a bigger hitbox on mobile.

Anybody know if we can filter out all threads with a tag or something?

The default editor doesn't seem to have a button for making bullet-point or numbered lists.

I have to say, I like that the sticky header bar is optional. I know some people hate it, but honestly it's growing on me pretty quick. Mine doesn't take up a terrible amount of space, and it's really nice to just be able to have to scroll all the way up to clear alerts and then back down to where I was to continue reading. I can just tap it and they clear.

I'm not getting Watch notifications at all. Thought everyone had just stopped updating as of the update besides Chastity!

I have to say, I like that the sticky header bar is optional.
I'm glad I saw this, because I hate the shaded header on Lightened theme and having the sticky bar always on screen was annoying the crap outa me. Now I just have to ignore it everywhere else it appears, which is much more doable when it isn't always on screen.

ive noticed then when i click the Change width button, the next time i come to the website or refresh the page it goes back to maximum width rather than the narrow width i wanted.

Though I have very little idea of what I am doing, I have gathered and created a bunch of css 'fikses' among them some of

Kinematics

to adjust things that annoyed me the most:
I am using the Stylus extension in Firefox, should also work in Chrome.

I coloured all links, and tried to make a few exceptions, though can't get the Wordcount back to a more discrete light grey, maybe someone else have an idea how to?

If anyone have screenshots of the old main page with the black and blue, I would appreciate it so I can try to adjust that one (the new one just looks off to me), I only have of the NSFW Creative Writing thread.

Is there an option to sort threads by date? It was a fast way to find new stuff.

I complained about this earlier in the thread, but it's annoying enough that I'll repeat myself now that a lot of the other low hanging fruit has been fixed: on mobile, the what's new button at the top uses valuable screen real estate which on a profile screen causes the account button to not exist due to space limitations. Please remove that button or make it configurable.

Hello, I've noticed after the UI changed, some of my watched threads are missing from more than 20 (approx) to just 5. And I forgot some of those threads title (cause' it's an old thread and no longer update but I still like the story)

Is anyone else having an issue where text appears like this?

@alethiophile

On tinymce when I click or hover near links/URLs the entire link gets covered in a blue bar, so I can't even see the text. Like for example if I'm trying to remove the search tags from a gelbooru url.

Right now the froala is looking more functional. Because I can actually select text properly and cut/paste them on mobile.

It's a bit frustrating, because there's traits from both editors that if combined would be just close to perfect (both are still missing indents for example) But there's a lot of important stuff split between them.

I just want to say that I appreciate all of the adjustments since the site came back. While there's still some missing bits and pieces, I'm not having trouble using the site after the updates.

I might have already mentioned this, but it would be really, really nice if thread tags were better specifically with regards to tags in alerts. There's a disconnect because when they show up in alerts, it's picking the first three tags, which are always the first three tags alphabetically. I like the feature, but it's either worse than it needs to be (since the shown tags may not be the important ones) or you have to intentionally limit your tags to just the three you want to show up in alerts. Ideally, we could flag the ones which would show up in alerts. Failing that, we could get them to show up in non-alphabetical order somehow.

First day after update I had "Xenoforo Default" as default style, now I have "Lightened" as default. It is intentional change?

No idea what causes it, im a mobile user, on blackened high contrast style btw, but when people posts a spoiler, only on images so it may be the image itself, there is no symbol or "box", it appears as just a "blank space" like they accidentaly kept the button "enter" pressed for a while or is just a format error that creates more space in a post.

Now when i click this "empty space" the image appears, but shouldn't there be something to indicate its a "blocked"/spoiler image?

@alethiophile

Fieldset needs to not have the word "Fieldset:" above the box if there is no title. We can title it "Fieldset:" if we want, there's no benefit to making it say "Fieldset:" every time anyways. Let us have naked boxes.

I want my xtables back, with my ability to change the background color, line width, line color, colspans and rowspans. They're useful for making nice formatting and ensuring images and text go in nice places. Table properties and cell properties has been removed from the default editor, and lobotomized in TinyMCE.

LaTeX:
\[\text{LaTeX doesn't need its own box. Just place the result inline as if it were normal text. We can make boxes around it if we want that behavior. Don't force it to have one, cutting the options for no reason. Also it scrolls off the screen and out of its own box, so you haven't implemented that properly either.}\]

Superscript and subscript no longer changes the size of the font. I personally see this as an improvement (we can still change the size if we want), but it probably isn't intended behavior.

The support for FontAwesome characters has expanded since I last checked, which makes me happy for Pokemon and for Magic: The Gathering ➊🅧 and other fun things. Much thanks. There's still some errors in the way it's set up. Turn this sun and moon solid.  When that happens, you will have implemented FontAwesome correctly.
