With This Ring (Young Justice SI) (Thread Fourteen)

That should say 'she's'.
Thank you, corrected.
Is this just a colloquialism I haven't been exposed to? I can infer the meaning from context, but I've never seen this use of the word precious before.
Meanings four and five.
man, the Daxam are just intolerable to everything aren't they
You're not seeing them at their best.
Couldn't Paul have peeked into Mrs. Yat's desires to get a better understanding of how to move the conversation?
He tries not to do that sort of thing unless it's important. In point of fact he wouldn't have been able to due to her being quite good at maintaining the theta wave state, but he doesn't know that.
We use it in Australia a bunch.
Well, fuck. I better stop, then.

"Fine! Then I guess we're done. I'll escort you to the meeting with Lantern Yat in… Ten hours, and then you can get out of my home system."

Arisia's eyes widen slightly. "Wait-."

"Thank you for trying, Lantern Rrab."
General reminder that you ceded authority on this matter to Arisia and the Green Lantern Corps.

Which means you flying off like a petulant child means they should automatically rule against you because that's how law works when one side runs away.

Aside from all the other answers already given, a somewhat Americanized version might be "let's not clutch pearls", which would get across the same meaning.

Paul seem unjustifiably confident that the belligerent extreme xenophobes will just leave after being told "No."
Just because they aren't a significant threat to him or the subordinate they came to kidnap doesn't mean they couldn't do a lot of damage.

Looks like Arisia might be upgrading Daxam from 'place we leave to its own devices' to 'place we actively quarantine'.

Do Daxomites know they get unlimited super powers from special sunlight, and if they do, how in the world does a cultural taboo keep any of them from ever trying to escape to a yellow sun solar system?

He's mostly doing this because the League wants a peaceful resolution, backed by the Green Lanterns also probably wanting to handle this as per their own protocols.

They know that. When Paul went to recruit Sodam Yat the Daxamites used temporary sunlight to empower themselves to kill Paul and the unfortunate soul who crash landed on Daxam. Their own culture of xenophobia and desire to remain pure is pretty much the only thing keeping most Daxamites on their planet.

They get super powers from any sunlight other than the sun they live under. They moved there because it's most Rao-like, and that's what they wanted. What's keeping them there? Cultural indoctrination combined with the fact that their few ships are keept very secure.

Why isn't Sodam Yat's father here did his mother just decide to do this on her own?

I wonder how Daxamite culture is able to keep such a tight grip on its people. They don't seem to have a very compelling ideology, just a lot of "Nuh-Uh". Surely Sodam isn't the first or last of them to question things.

When he gets a little older, maybe Sodam will check if there's a Daxamite dissident movement that he could start discretely slipping some aid to.

When you're a subsistance farmer, your ideology only needs to be so compelling, because you're spending most of your time working and not naval gazing.

And for those that do? Sodam Yat had a completely fluke encounter that made his desire crystalise for him. Most of the rest settle for lesser ambitions.

"The very first daxamites put up warning beacons and orbital defences precisely to ensure that no one visited us! The only reason anyone could have to ignore them is theft or spying."

"Or they crashed. Did your husband check the crash site? Did you find evidence

Or the beacons stopped working, or Tessogs technology couldn't read them etc.

"getting into"

Maybe.

He may also not be that reasonable compared to her.

I guess I forgot they were supposed to be space Amish because they also have krypton super tech. But its a very good reason, being too busy to bother with what ifs and big radical dreams.

I briefly consider shouting 'neat!' and generating a nuclear bomb construct, but think better of it. I mean, the only person it would hurt would be Arisia, and wrecking the ship would slow the daxamites leaving.

"Thank you for not nuking my mom as a conversational 'Gotcha', Orange Lantern. I know that took restraint."
