Dark Heavens | Space Ship Girls Quest [Original Setting]

[X] A dreadful hunter with massive weapons [Cruiser]

While subs can be funny (we're hyper subs!) and battleships are what I'd love (who doesn't love 1 shotting people?), my choice honestly comes down to the cruiser or carrier.

I eventually choose the Cruiser because while being a Carrier could be pretty awesome, sending friends to their deaths is kinda stupid personality-wise, so Cruiser it is.

Updates and stats for Cruiser Girl
Mechanics
Weaponry
- This is basically how much attack power is available to ships, the higher this is, the more dangerous the ship is when attacking. This stat bonus applies to damage rolls.

Armor/Defense
- How much shields and armor IS that ship packing? The higher this is, the more capable the ship is when hit by attacks. This stat bonus applies to defense rolls. It is also the hit-points of ships.
- Low provides 2 health levels, Medium provides 4 health levels, Heavy provides 8 health levels, Very Heavy provides 16 health levels

Endurance
- How far can the ship go without refueling or picking up provisions? The higher the stat, the further the ship can travel without needing to stop in on a star system or a station or refueling point to refuel. Medium is the absolute lowest if the ship is to be a starship. This stat also applies to how durable a ship is. This stat bonus applies to travel distance and to rolls for going on despite taking sufficient damage to go down.

Speed
- Combat speed! This stat is for combat maneuvers. The higher, the better. It also provides a slight bonus to attack accuracy and dodging. The stat bonus applies to attack and defense rolls.

Maintenance
- This is how fast a ship fixes itself. Oddly enough, the lower this is, the faster the repair is. Basically, the higher the rating the more turns it takes to repair any given "level" of damage.

Specials
- Basically, specials are unique traits of various ships.

The laws of upgrades...

Upgrades come only when a ship acquires a system that she did not have previously. How is up to the voters, you can trade, negociate, steal, or loot said system from the cold corpses of your sister ships.

And even then, some upgrades WILL come with penalties for your ship-class or not be as effective as it used to be, due to incompatibility of said system to your ship form.

Upgrades take time to be refitted into your ship body. This refit time is reduced if you're in a ship-yard for the upgrades. Until the refit is completed, the upgraded component will not be usable and you will experience penalties to doing anything involving your ship body.

The laws of Specials...

Specials are unique items/ability to assorted ships, it will take massive refitting to incorporate a different ship-class's special into your ship body.
Submarine Special : In-System Point to Point FTL
This special is a tactical repositioning ability and gives a massive bonus to rolls for attacks and dodges. It also provides bonuses to sneaking rolls.
It has the drawback that in areas with high stellar flux or gravitational effects, such as a system with a sun about to go Nova or in a system with a blackhole, it will require a successful roll to be used. It is theoretically possible for ships to have systems that emulate those effects to deny FTL usage around them.

Cruiser Special : Extremely Fast Self Repair
This special is basically an enhanced self repair system. Every non-combat turn when repair occurs, you get a maintenance roll to determine how many extra health levels is fixed on top of the standard repairs. This can, in theory, result in all damage being repaired in a single turn.

Battleship Special : Powerful! Main Gun
This special is something that needs to be declared in combat usage.
A successful attack with this weapon requires any ship this by this attack with armor/defense lower than Very Heavy to make a successful Endurance roll to not be mission killed immediately and be able to limp away at Low Speed or they make Endurance rolls each turn to continue fighting with all stats set to a Low level. If they fail the Endurance roll, they are immediately mission killed and are dead in the water until they get repaired...
Successful attacks made against ships with Very Heavy armor/defense still does massive damage. However, it requires 4 successful Main Gun shots against ships with Very Heavy armor/defense to mission kill them.
The drawback is the energy requirement when firing the Main Gun. Using the main gun requires 1 Energy Unit per shot. By default, each level of Endurance provides 1 Energy Unit that recovers at a rate of 1 Enegy Unit for every turn without combat systems or FTL usage. A battlecruiser starts with 4 Energy Units.

Parasite Craft Carrier Special : Parasite Crafts
You have [20] Parasite Crafts that fight on your behalf. They are basically autonomous drones that you can control within your control range.
Every turn without combat systems or FTL usage, your internal fabricator systems can build up to enough Parasite Crafts to fill 20% of your carrier capacity.
Each Parasite Craft have the default following stats:
Low Weaponry, Low Armor/Defense, Low Endurance, Very High Speed, N/A Maintenance, Special: [4] One-Shot Medium Weaponry, requires re-arming by carrier
Default Control Range is 1/8th of a solar system radius around the carrier

Cargo/Merchant Special : High Cargo/Crew Capacity and Extremely Low Fuel Requirements
Amazingly, you have sufficient space in your cargo hold to fit an entire city of pets or ahem! crew. Or you could use that space to hold the cut up corpse of one of your kin (all the parts from a Cruiser)... they call that "spare parts", yes? Also, you can go for VERY long times without needing to refuel in a solar system... like multiple times compared to other ship types.

Character Sheet
Name : [redacted]
Class : Cruiser
Appearance : ???
Ship Form : ???
Reputation : None

Attack Power
Heavy [broadside mounted cannons: 12 particle per side]
Medium [proton missile turrets: 4 turrets with 8 missiles - requires 1 turn for full reload]
Medium [proton torpedo launchers: 6 front and 4 rear - no reload time]
Low [numerous point defense laser cannons]

Defense Power
Heavy [energy shields]

Health Levels
Heavy [reinforced armor plating and bulkheads]
[_] [_] [_] [_] [_] [_] [_] [_]

Endurance
High [Fuel : Stellar Material collected from photosphere of a star via ram-scope]
[Able to travel to travel up to 3 star systems without refueling]

Combat Speed
Medium [Gravity Well Engines]
[+10 to attack, dodge, movement rolls]

Faster Than Light Drive
Standard [Aetheric Slipstream]
[Requires exiting star systems before it can be used]

Repair Systems
Low [Autonomous Repair Drones]
[Repairs 1 health level per turn. SPECIAL: Roll 1d100, repair 1 extra health level for every 10 in the roll, rounded down]

So assuming we can reach 0 health for mission dead status that's a 31% chance of succeeding at the roll and full healing in one turn. That's stupid fast it seems, even as is we average 5.6 health healed when healing out of combat, if the norm is less then one per turn considering we get one per turn with low maintenance then we really do have some truly amazing regen. So yeah, escape combat and then be fully ready to go far faster then any other type of ship could dream of, would make us brilliant in a group as we'd be the ultimate tank basically, if we could somehow refit it to be able to trigger on combat repairs we'd just take it a level higher where nothing short of the truly exceptional has any chance of taking us down.

Probably getting too caught up in it but oh well, still seems amazing.

I'm hoping to upgrade to Very Heavy armor early on- both for the extra health, and for the noticeable improvement vs the battleship special (takes 4 hits to kill instead of 1).

001 : Choice
The world that had played host for you since your hatching was green... it was what you instinctively knew to be a Garden World.

A world that was lush, verdant and upon which intelligent life would eventually evolve on or desire to claim.

It is also... sadly, a quiet world. With no intelligent life beyond you on it. No settlements or such. No tool users. Nothing that you would claim as a pet... erm... crew.

Instead, it is just you and only you on that lonely world as you listened to the broadcasts from distant worlds.

You were ready... far more than ready to take off...

And so, one day... you did.

You flew up to the highest peak upon that lonely world of yours. Your pale skin reflected the light much like the snow beneath you, unlike the black hardened portions of your body; a reflection of your other self's armor, weaponry and engines.

Admittedly, flying isn't actually accurate, given the effect of your gravity drives meant that you were more falling upwards or forwards than down.

There you stood, upon the highest point of your birthworld, gazing upon the blue blackness of the heavens above.

You clenched your fist and listened, breathing in the thin air.

You had a choice here.

You could continue to stay upon this world, perhaps even broadcasting a beacon that this was a garden world and someone would eventually come by.

Or you could fly from your nest.

Cruiser is a great solo build

You guys didn't vote for the STRONGEST build of all...

Cargo/Merchant-tan is the strongest build! Look at how big she is, how tough and durable! That fuel efficiency! :3

I know! And with a lot of customizable hard-points too! :)
