Dark Heavens | Space Ship Girls Quest [Original Setting]

[X] Take to the Heavens
-[X] Explore your world's system

The stay and broadcast the worlds position option seems strangely cute to me some reason, but going with the explore option instead. While going into a battle may be tempting, any battle would already have 2 sides, and we might not have anyway of knowing what either side is like before we are forced to join in. I'd rather spend some time looking around and figuring out what the world is like ourselves before jumping into random fights.

Who cares what each side is like? We are a spaceship, if we piss off both sides too much we can just go somewhere else and find a third side.

Anyone who doesn't want to stumble into a fight, piss off both sides, then find out they were high ranking members of the 2 super powers that rule the entire known galaxy. Saying "We can find a 3rd side" is all well and good, but if any 3rd side would immediately kick us to the curb to avoid the people we pissed off it is kind of pointless. That's why I'm suggesting finding out more about the setting- so we can avoid stuff like that possibility.

Current Tally
[1] 1 Stay on your world and Broadcast its coordinates, one of your big sisters will come by.: (Adyen)
[8] Take to the Heavens [pick an option below]: (Jiven, DeAnno, mc2rpg, wayne82444, Xicree, fitzgerald, theweepingman, Happerry)
-[4] 4 Explore your world's system: (wayne82444, Xicree, fitzgerald, theweepingman)
-[2] Fly towards where broadcasts spoke of a battle.: (mc2rpg, DeAnno)
-[2] Stay in your system and just listen to the broadcasts for now: (Jiven, Happerry)

[X] Take to the Heavens
-[X] Explore your world's system

Let's get to know our capabilities and surroundings a bit before jumping into a battle.

That aside... why was an 'Egg' like ours left alone on a Garden World with no intelligent life or other kind of caretaker, anyway?

Any more votes? Or is exploration the winner?

You bent your knees before pushing up and started to fall.

Granted, you fell up into the heavens.

The air thinned even as it got colder. At the edge of the atmosphere, you can see the clouds below as the curve of the world burned blue against the darkness of the heavens.

Before you, you can also see the primary satellite of your world between you and the sun casting a shadow. Beyond that, you can see eternity.

For a moment, you hang motionless between your world and the dark void of the heavens.

A silent and single moment, before you pushed your other body out of the realm of Dark Matter and Energy. The blunt bow of your dagger shaped hull parted the wispy thin atmosphere as your other body formed around you.

That was when "it" clicked, and you could SENSE all the myriad energies of the universe. The heavens was not dark. No, it was a thing of light and energy beyond your core body's senses.

More than that, you could now hear the words of your sisters with much more clarity.

Your navigation systems have conveniently set up a map of the star system you're in.

The sun was the center of the grid, there was an axis pointed "corewards" and "voidwards" or towards the core of the galaxy or out of the galaxy, while another went clockwise to counter-clockwise for the galactic rotation, and the last was relative to the sun, being up or down.

Each axis or line was divided into one hundred units to form a cube that was divided into eight smaller cubes that was divided into one hundred by one hundred by one hundred.

This was also when you discovered that you were... hungry. A novel sensation for you, the core body could eat but never had to.

You needed fuel to properly explore your star system or to go elsewhere... there was also that asteroid belt just a bit further out with those delicious metal ores and minerals. The only question... was which to go for first?

What Do?
[X] Fly into the sun and get some star matter first. You can eat an asteroid or two later.
[X] You could get some ores and minerals first and properly arm yourself with torpedos and spare parts. Fuel can come later.
[X] Do something Else.

I'd rather be ready to fight then flee, especially when there are many faster things out there.

We are better speced to fight than to run, so in a choice between being ready to fight and being ready to go exploring I say get ready for a fight. Besides, if we don't have weapons and get caught in a fight we can't attack or repair. If we don't have fuel we just have to put off exploring for another round to get fuel is all.

Or, we could get caught by a fleet of ships while we're getting ammo, and because we're low on fuel we can't escape.

By that thought we could get surrounded by a fleet of ships while we are getting fuel, and since we don't have ammo we can't escape from them. Being low on ammo, spare parts, and fuel is a bad situation.

That said it is the start of the quest too, so one of the two equally important choices being punished by being attacked by a hostile fleet would be kind of unfair. If whichever we go to we get attacked at I expect the other one would result in us being attacked as well, with the choice at worst deciding what we end up fighting.

That's logically flawed since if we're escaping them, then we wouldn't need to fire shots.

You can argue that we can't escape if we have no fuel, but you can't argue that you can't escape if you have no ammo.

Edit: It can also be made into a choice where you are forced to join one side of a war or another.

You missed the part where I said surrounded. You can't escape if there is no direction to go, so if you can't attack them to open a direction up you are stuck. I'm not sure if I wasn't clear on that or if you just misinterpreted it. Either way it was meant to point out that neither situation was good, not be a prediction of something that might happen.

Also worth pointing out is that if we were given the option to get ammo first we must have enough fuel to get to the asteroid belt, collect the ammo and spare parts, then get back to the star to collect more fuel. That would mean we would have fuel to get away if attacked, even if we are forced to stop on a random planet and wait to get more fuel after.
