I haven't, but while I've read... Like, one and a half Dune books? I didn't think much of them.

It's like... Okay, there's been a major galactic invasion and Arrakis itself has been carpet nuked, and you had that happen off-page while we get multiple chapters of these numpties having sex. What are you even doing?

It's not an insurmountable problem, but it does mean that transitioning is disabled until I can break it. The layers have enwrapped me too. They're not strong, I can still move, but if whichever Zombie Guardian made them can feel them-.

More burning arrows impact on my armour, but that's good at preventing penetration and absorbing heat. I just need to-.

The zombie-stripper's mouth distends as she howls!

G-ragh! It's bypassing-! My teeth are rattling, the-. Everything goes black as my eyes burst and I'm forced to rely on ring navigation move!

I stop in the far side of the… Still-functioning barrier, load railgun rounds, restore my eyes and scan-.

Just as every ice crystal swirls into the air and slams into me! My kinetic barrier prevents it doing much harm to me, but my construct is torn to pieces. Okay, manageable. I-.

With most of the ice… Ripped from the air I get a clear view of the Zombie Guardians. By the looks of it they're actually pretty fresh. Their blood has long since congealed but there's no rot in their death wounds. Too cold up here, I suppose. But whatever killed them wasn't gentle or delicate; their flesh is sliced from deep cuts or mangled from superstrength impacts, partially severed meat and broken limbs hanging from their reanimated bodies.

Wait, where's Berymove!

Another howling blast of-.

Agh! Right in the visor!

I swat what's left of the burning arrow away and raise a construct shield as the howling blast of dark energy slams into the ice where I was just standing, another explosion of ice erupting into the air. But I stay staring at them, and I can still see their glowing black eyes staring at me.

Right. Duplicate my armour, manufacture a shield with orange lights on it, drop it off behind me, stick a Construct Lantern inside it, activate stealth systems and slowly change locations.

I don't have anything that's good for demon-possessed zombies. And it looks like we're relying on the Plans Subsequent To A to deal with Beryltalia. But that's fine, I assumed that would be the case. I'm not going to try to consume that much dark energy unless I really have to.

Okay, they're still watching the decoy, x-ionised sword and-.

The world is consumed in films of ice-. Go!

Four sets of black eyes turn in my direction-. Construct boosters! Sword ready!

Beryl tries to conjure more dark energy but I reach her first, sword hitting her-.

CRACK!

And I'm knocked away again by-. A gold circlet? Beryl's got a gushing wound through the middle of her lungs, which-.

She grins at me as it knits itself together, and raises her hands to show that her finger grew back as well.

Regeneration, probably based on the availability of dark energy. I either find out how to one-hit-kill her or this isn't a winnable fight.

Have the Construct Lantern charge in as a distraction, because they've assumed that it's irrelevant. Use sonics to explode the ice and then fall in behind the Construct Lantern. Prepare a fission grenade, adding additional armour to the outer surface because I don't need an external fuse. Jab with construct crumbler rams like they're coming from the decoy-. Who eats a flaming arrow and a surge of ice crystals without flinching before ramming into the archer zombie. Sailor Mars, if I remember correctly.

"Lord Hades, please-"

We charge past Beryl as she builds up for another blast, and this time I slash her across the eyes rather than-

"Ah!"

-across the torso, dropping the fission grenade in a way which I hope doesn't draw attention to it.

"-returning these accursed-"

With that done, I accelerate, charging past the zombies.

"-forms to rest."

Looking back-. Gold-. Shield! It-. The circlet hits my decoy, and does something to the Construct Lantern within which sends it back to my ring. I avoid the collapsing armour easily enough but the circlet rebounds and hits me directly in the helmet-!

And stays there?

Helmetoffhelmet-.

GAH!

My teeth clamp as the electricity surges through my body! My armour is insulated, but this thing's generating enough electricity that it's getting through-.

Demon Nabu.

Your own head? You-. AAAGH!

With the helmet taking the hits for me, the electricity stops flowing into my body and I can… Repair my electrical burns.

What IS this! Why can I feel PAIN?!

And the there's a bright flare of light as the fission grenade goes off.

And for a moment the ice stills and the unholy abominations pause. The one who was once Guardian Moon hesitates to leap. The one who was once Guardian Mars lets her bow of burning dark energy evaporate. The one who was once Guardian Mercury-. Is that a computer? That's-. Okay. And the one who was once Guardian Jupiter has electricity cracking around her hands -normal electricity- but it fades as we see if there's anything left of Beryl.

Railgun, because I can walk and chew gum at the same time.

Crumbler rounds hit Guardian Moon and Guardian Mercury in the head, disintegrating their craniums completely before the rest think to evade. They're a little cooked along one side, but just because it's a fission blast that doesn't mean that it's super-destructive. It's just efficient. But Beryl…

Looks… Like I got-.

"RAAAAAGHHHH!"

Her.

Dark energy coagulates in the place where her incinerated body once stood, assuming her outline. It waves a hand and the still standing bodies of Moon and Mercury gain shadow heads to replace the ones I destroyed. And then I-.

Guh.

This is a very amusing way to use Demon Nabu. I hope to see him used as a shield more in the future.

To quote Uncle.

"Magic must defeat Magic!"

You're up against a fragment of a being capable of making a bitch out of the Ophidian, this is not a fight you can brute force your way into winning.

Mercury making her move. As 'Guardian of the Water Star', she can control ice and cold water. Admittedly, up till this point, she mostly just used it as a distracting fog. Guess dying gave her some upgrades to her casting skill.

Fly up and sonic blast in all directions.

Ice shatters, and I hurl my grenade-.
drawback of widespread elemental ice effects against someone basically immune to most of them: They give that person plenty of shrapnel to throw around.

Mars, using something akin to her Flame Sniper skill from a later season. Probably infused with dark energy, though.

Going for melee? Jupiter, most likely. Despite commanding lightning, she often used martial arts just as much thanks to enhanced strength.

The zombie-stripper's mouth distends as she howls!

G-ragh! It's bypassing-! My teeth are rattling, the-. Everything goes black as my eyes burst and I'm forced to rely on ring navigation move!
...Or not Jupiter. Moon, then. Which is amusing, as this sonic attack was only used a handful of time. No doubt greatly enhanced by dark energy as well.

Right, ice controller. The manga Senshi were a lot stronger than their 90's anime counterparts, mostly because the weekly formula meant that only Sailor Moon could beat the enemy of the week properly, and the rest of them were just there to pin them down.

With most of the ice… Ripped from the air I get a clear view of the Zombie Guardians. By the looks of it they're actually pretty fresh. Their blood has long since congealed but there's no rot in their death wounds. Too cold up here, I suppose. Eww. Hardly living up to their 'bishoujo' moniker right now. 😨

Wait, where's Berymove!

Agh! Right in the visor!
Big obvious weak point there, after all. Surprised Jupiter hasn't thrown a lightning attack in. Maybe her moves are a little too indiscriminate at this power level.

I swat what's left of the burning arrow away and raise a construct shield as the howling blast of dark energy slams into the ice where I was just standing, another explosion of ice erupting into the air. But I stay staring at them, and I can still see their glowing black eyes staring at me.
Fortunately, they can't fly under their own power, and their jumping ability probably doesn't have the reach to get at him while airborne.

Good. Remember what happened to the local Paul? Even if that's less likely to happen to you, that much dark energy is gonna give you serious indigestion...

Okay, they're still watching the decoy, x-ionised sword and-.

The world is consumed in films of ice-. Go!
I bet Mercury detected the real him moving. She'd still have her visor and computer, damaged as they might be.

Four sets of black eyes turn in my direction-. Construct boosters! Sword ready!

Beryl tries to conjure more dark energy but I reach her first, sword hitting her-.
A remarkably old-school method of dealign with her, and probably one to give the mortal part flashbacks to Venus doing the same.

CRACK!

And I'm knocked away again by-. A gold circlet? Beryl's got a gushing wound through the middle of her lungs, which-.
Sailor Moon's Tiara Magic, of all things. To quote a Marvel character: 'That thing just does not obey the laws of physics.'

She grins at me as it knits itself together, and raises her hands to show that her finger grew back as well.

Regeneration, probably based on the availability of dark energy. I either find out how to one-hit-kill her or this isn't a winnable fight.
And even then, that won't kill the parasite riding her, merely the human host. But it should weaken Metalia...

Have the Construct Lantern charge in as a distraction, because they've assumed that it's irrelevant. Use sonics to explode the ice and then fall in behind the Construct Lantern. Prepare a fission grenade, adding addition armour to the outer surface because I don't need an external fuse. Jab with construct crumbler rams like they're coming from the decoy-. Who eats a flaming arrow and a surge of ice crystals without flinching before ramming into the archer zombie. Sailor Mars, if I remember correctly.
He does indeed remember correctly. Though I wouldn't be surprised if she wasn't missing her iconic curtain of hair by now.

"Lord Hades, please-"

We charge past Beryl as she builds up for another blast, and this time I slash her across the eyes rather than-
Tit for tat, given she had Sailor Moon tag his eyes. And if she's used to seeing through human eyes, she can't command the Senshi to...

"Ah!"

-across the torso, dropping the fission grenade in a way which I hope doesn't draw attention to it.
...Do anything about that. That's gonna be a big bang when it pops, even for that small a device.

"-returning these accursed-"

With that done, I accelerate, charging past the zombies.

"-forms to rest."
I don't know if Hades is listening, but if it makes you feel better for fighting them, go for it.

Looking back-. Gold-. Shield! It-. The circlet hits my decoy, and does something to the Construct Lantern within which sends it back to my ring. I avoid the collapsing armour easily enough but the circlet rebounds and hits me directly in the helmet-!

And stays there?
At which point, it can start carving, because that thing is like a buzzsaw.

Helmetoffhelmet-.

GAH!

My teeth clamp as the electricity surges through my body! My armour is insulated, but this thing's generating enough electricity that it's getting through-.
Ah, there's Jupiter's lightning. I guess they figured he'd be resistant to electrical attacks until they breached his armour.

Demon Nabu.

Your own head? You-. AAAGH!
Yeah, no possession for you, you over-achieving dunce cap.

With the helmet taking the hits for me, the electricity stops flowing into my body and I can… Repair my electrical burns.

What IS this! Why can I feel PAIN?!

And then there's a bright flare of light as the fission grenade goes off.
Heh. Fair punishment for the things Demon-Nabu did in 'life'.

Only on the periphery of the blast, so not much damage there to them. Good, the less patching up needed, the better.

But Beryl…
...What did I just say? Ugh, let's hope necromancy can fix that up or things are really gonna be screwed.

Looks… Like I got-.

"RAAAAAGHHHH!"

Her.
Sounds like you pissed Metalia off. A tiny nuclear blast to the face would sting something fierce, even if it could absorb part of the energy.

Dark energy coagulates in the place where her incinerated body once stood, assuming her outline. It waves a hand and the still standing bodies of Moon and Mercury gain shadow heads to replace the ones I destroyed. And then I-.

Guh.
A combined barrage? At least Metalia won't have as much potency now without a human host...

Let's hope that wasn't Metalia deciding to grab him for a new host body. Not that I expect something like that to work how it thinks it would. OL's soul isn't a pleasant thing for invading energy creatures, not with a big old snake already curled up there. Still, attempting it would pin him down for the zombie Senshi to wail on...

It is absolutely a fight that can be brute forced, it just needs the right kind of brute force.
I was using "you" to refer directly to Orange Lantern.

He can't use regular magic, let alone the specific type of reality bending purification magic needed to actually defeat Metalia.

Really, the only being left on the planet that might have a ghost of a chance against Metalia is Mazikeen. And that would just be delaying the ineviatable for a year or so untill the next more powerful fragment of Chaos shows up.

Where did this one come from? when did it become a demon?
Don't remember the specific chapter, but there was an alternate universe where a demon possessed Superman and unleashed Hell on Earth.

That version of Nabu wasn't turned into a demon, but he was driven insane.

His Helm showed up on Earth 16 where he killed a child. Paul later assimilated him.

The cages clank open as I fabricate a fission grenade. I know that the Heavenly Duo said that the world's nuclear powers tried nuclear weapons, but I.C.B.M.'s are a lot easier to intercept than they are to tank. I tran-.
'I.C.B.M.s'?

And also, due to the inverse square law a nuclear explosion is far less energetic if you're 100 metres away than if you're 1 metre away. Doesn't matter much to a normal person, but it's important when it comes to greatly superhuman durability. Though I'm not sure this applies here, since I assume the fission grenade has a far lower total energy than a strategic nuclear weapon.

'return'?
or
'aid me in returning'?

Is this him trying to do magic, or actually praying, or hoping against hope that Hades can somehow intervene in a battle in another universe, or hoping that there's a local analogue who is friendly?
Demon Nabu.

Your own head? You-. AAAGH!
Hahaha, clever and funny. I'm happy that he's using construct lanterns, they're perhaps my favourite part of the power set.
What IS this! Why can I feel PAIN?!

And the there's a bright flare of light as the fission grenade goes off.
'then'

I didn't remember that he's normally immune to pain. I guess this is the dark energy bypassing that?
And for a moment the ice stills and the unholy abominations pause. The one who was once Guardian Moon hesitates to leap. The one who was once Guardian Mars lets her bow of burning dark energy evaporate. The one who was once Guardian Mercury-. Is that a computer? That's-. Okay. 'crackling'
