With This Ring (Young Justice SI) (Thread Fourteen)

I don't think Paul's Earth Prime is actually Comic Earth Prime. He's from a universe where the comics still talk about alien races and they haven't been discovered.

They haven't been discovered in the comics Earth-Prime either.

Superboy Prime isn't publicly known to exist, and the other races I mentioned are members of the 30th century legion of superheroes, a version of which was established to be the future of Earth Prime in Legion of Three Worlds.

One of the fics i read on SB by theirishdreamer had the characters deal with a portal opening to another dimension.
The readers gave several theories on where it would lead to , with some of them being Warhammer 40k.
The author shut that idea down, explaining that that particular universe is worthless.
Despite the fact that it is a sci fi universe its technology isn't that special or advanced, its magic is primitive the even Lords of Chaos would call it stupid and needlesly chaotic and pointless, the cultures inhabiting it are either backwards or ridiculously self destructive, and the gods of that universe are all either too weak, stupid or self destructive to be of any use to the mc and his quest for knowledge and improvement with the author even calling the Chaos Gods "special needs divines" i.e. retarded, and the other gods aren't that far behind

Basically the Warhammer 40k universe and other similar grimderp universe like it are slated to be destroyed by higher cosmic forces and be recycled so their recycled remains can be used to make new universes, in the words of the author.
So Warhammer 40k and other universes belong in the same level as the Dark Multiverse.

Also i think there was a short mention of the author that the meteor that gave Vandal Savage his immortality was a shard of the Emperor of Mankind and that it also rewrote his personality to be more like him.
Which would make sense seeing as both of them are overly prideful, have an EXTREMELY inflated sense of self and aren't able to grasp anything beyond their own stupid little thought patterns.

32nd Nachgeheim 2512
Mid morning

"Master? Why is everyone so quiet?"

Meister Glook spares the blind youth carrying his standard a kindly smile. "They're overjoyed that we've reached our destination, boy. The stonework here has to be seen to be believed; it's struck them quite dumb."
Nooo, I think it's more to do with the fact you're entering a Khemric Tomb-city of your own free will, and not being immediately blasted into dust by a dozen curses...

On the howdah behind me Aranei Soulflenser rolls her eyes, futilely fanning her face with her fan. "It's… Large."

I always thought that Dark Elf names were trying too hard, but apparently they sound better in druhir.
Most things tend to sound better in their native language... I suspect the Drak Elves like to give false names that just sound like the fantasies of edgy 12-year-olds, for the lols.

"Nothing compared to the slave-wrought wonders of Naggaroth, I'm sure."

"Slave-dwarf-wrought, slave-human-cleaned. This sand gets... Everywhere!"
Deal with it, honey.

"Hah!" Meister Glook holds his right arm high for his men to see, then drops it forward as he spurs his mount. His Desert Dogs take up his challenge, geeing their mounts to accelerate into the necropolis ahead.

Aranei sighs as they race away, then turns to make doe eyes at me. "My lord, might I prevail upon you to free me from this most distasteful sand? I would be…" She licks her lips. "Everso grateful."
Boy, I bet having her around is a laugh-a-minute fun time...

I take a look at the open gate ahead of us and command my mount forward. The Construct Lantern mammoth is nothing like as fast as the Desert Dogs' horses, but Meister Glook advised that if I wanted to be seen as important a stately procession was more appropriate than pure haste.

"There is little point until we are inside, but once we are I will make sure that you are presentable before our audience."
In other words, stop moaning about it...

Aranei's attitude is hardly surprising. Since I rewrote the.. less than social desire-sets of my Dark Elf prisoners, they've been.. extremely eager to please me. Or maybe this is just a part of their culture? I've felt somewhat self-conscious about asking the few High Elves I've met so far about that sort of thing, particularly given when else I've asked of them.

"How jealous I am that the favour of a dead woman can compel you to cross continents."
Jealousy doesn't suit you, kid... Besides, she's far more useful...

"You know perfectly well why we're here."

"My own people have no love for the chaos gods. If you treated with them as you treated with Lord Barblash's reavers, your greatness would only be magnified by your possession of a people truly worthy of you." She looks up at the walls surrounding us, sighting the ranks of armoured skeletons staring blankly across the desert. "Unlike these... Mindless... Things."
Chaos gods? You mean those gibbering wrecks who play at godhood? Who gift their followers with worthless mutations that tend to end up turning them into mindless lumps of flesh? Yeah... No.

"It will be some time before I am ready to treat with the Witch King." About the same time Thurgun finishes my gromil armour with that nifty anti-magic master rune we found in Karak Azgal. Or maybe later. "And I do truly appreciate your people's service to me. Yours especially." Her face lights up with delight. It's true that in combat I mostly use her as a scroll-caddie, but magic is one of the few things around here I can't just blast through and that makes her essential to my ongoing wellbeing.
Man, imagine begin the player running up against this custom army list...

Hm. The city of Lybaras is.. dead. Its people are -for the most part- animated skeletons with little to no will of their own. Not that any of this was supposed to happen; the Tomb Kings and Queens were self-interested but there's very little point ruling anything if there's no one around capable of revering you for it. Now, I watch a naked skeleton mime the actions of putting damp cloth on a washing line when in reality both cloth and line have long since gone to dust. Another sit at an empty market stall in an empty market, selling nothing to nobody. My limited understanding of the magics employed tell me that a Liche Priest or Tomb Prince could.. order them to 'wake up' from acting out scenes from their lives, to actually think about what they're doing. But in these troubled times they spend their time either with other intelligent undead or with their military forces.
And I suspect that without being tightly controlled by said masters, there'd be a lot of silent screaming at what they've become...

Aranei carefully stands and walks across the howdah to sit at my side, following my gaze to look down at the later peasantry of Nehekhara. I wonder what she makes-?

"But how do they whip them if they can't feel the pain? The whole situation is completely futile."

Ah.
Dark Elves, man... Just... And all because of one youth's jealousy...

I can see the Grand Temple of Asaph up ahead, and.. since the gates were open I'm going to assume that someone intelligent is keeping tabs on our progress up the city's main thoroughfare. Hm. Looking up, I see a small flight of those undead vultures the Nehekharans like so much. A Liche Priest looking through their eyes, perhaps? Regardless, if I'm to establish myself as a powerful figure a full precession is probably in order and the half dozen construct mammoths forming my baggage train are hardly sufficient.

And this is one of the few places in the world I can do it without having anyone try to burn me as a necromancer.
Heh. A peculiar point of view. I doubt the 'good' nations look kindly on Identity Theft...

Aranei's eyes glow in wonder as I raise my left hand and release my Construct Lanterns to form ranks before and behind me. Beastmen gathered during my purge of the Drakwald Forest appear first, followed by goblins and skaven from my campaign in the World's Edge Mountains. I compel them to mark in perfect lockstep, entirely contrary to their nature. Closest to the mammoth I call a handful of daemons who didn't have the sense to flee from the material realm once their bodies started turning orange. Tidied up plaguebearers for the most part, with a small unit of steed-mounted daemonettes… Yes, that should be sufficient.
This Paul's been busy.

Aranei takes me lowering my left hand as a sign that she can press up against my right side. "It's a such a shame that you don't let them out more often, my lord."

"I do want people to see me as powerful. I don't want them terrified. Terrified people make stupid decisions."
Like screaming "Charge!" or "Flee!" when he just wants to have a conversation...

She looks mildly exasperated. "Not even a little terror?"

"That's not how I'm choosing to work with my current group of allies."
"What do you want?" tends to be a better carrot than the stick of mindless terror.

She… I'm reasonably confident that she can disagree with me, but a combination of her ring-compelled loyalty and her upbringing makes her unwilling to flat out tell me to my face that she knows better. But these people have been long-familiar with tyrants and monsters. If I'm going to see my goals recognised, I need to be more than that.
I'm guessing said goals include the banishment of the Chaos Gods from the Old World, and the restoration of the great polar gates to original specifications...

Far ahead, a few of the Desert Dogs look back at the source of the stamping behind them and I see the fear on their faces as they dig their spurs in. Meister Glook sits up slightly as they ride past him and then looks back himself.

I can just about see him laughing. Public school in Marienburg must be crazy.
Ah, Imperials. Such a mad, skewed vision of the world... But if it helps them survive, it's all good.

I sit back a little as the Temple slowly draws nearer.

On an upper balcony I see skeleton warriors march out from the temple's interior, carrying banners and musical instruments. Below, Meister Glook comes to a halt before the entrance and is directing his men around to the side of the temple, out of the path of my construct's advance. An instruction which seems to relieve them greatly.
I'm guessing they're wearing their brown trews...

Boom. Boom-boom boom. Boom. Boom-boom boom.

The skeletons begin beating their drums in perfect unison as my vanguard moves into the plaza before the Temple and spreads out to the left and right. But it isn't until my mammoth steps into the plaza that the woman I am here to see steps out from the shadows.
And all this pageantry for one thing...

I have the ring magnify my vision to that I can precisely judge her physical state. That's usually a rough guide to the mental state of a Tomb King; the more decayed they are the more out of it they're likely to be. In her case… Her wrappings appear to be in good repair, and her gold and blue ornaments appear to be intact. She's wearing a fan-shaped headdress, an ornate belt with a scarab belt buckle and a.. semi armoured ruff/shoulder armour thing. Her face is.. covered in a mask, but the mask appears to have been damaged on the left side. I can see her bare skull beneath it. Hm. A little worrying that she hasn't simply had it repaired… Her outfit is completed by a blue cloak which is attached to her shoulder armour and arms and a.. sort of open-at-the-front mini-skirt of the same material. She's also carrying her asp-tipped staff of office, which she hands to an attendant as she takes her seat at the front of the balcony.
Scandalous on a human, entirely not on a Mummy Queen. Though that description is underselling her status...

In her wake, the lesser Tomb Princess, Princesses and Liche Priests file in. The Priest hovering on her left side must be the local Hierophant, as the other Priests stay well back. My mammoths are nearing the front of the plaza now, and I make a point of maintaining direct eye… Eye-to-enchanted eye socket contact with her. Though she no longer has the capacity for facial expression, her completely still pose gives me no way to even try and guess what she's thinking about this whole thing.
Probably "Well, he makes one hell of an entrance, at least."

My mammoth stops at the front of the plaza, and I wait.

After a moment or two a Tomb Prince wearing more robes than armour steps up beside his sovereign.
Ah, the Herald of the Asp Queen.

"Bow, pilgrims, bow before the Wisdom of Asaph made flesh, the Voice of the Vengeful, the Lioness of the Hills, She Whose Legions Blot Out the Sun With Their Arrows, High Queen Khalida, Guardian of Damned Lahmia, the Watchful Soul and the Serpent Queen. Kneel, so that you might bask in her radiance!"
And I'm impressed that he's summarizing so much. She must be treating him as a near-equal, damn!

I stand, bringing Aranei up with me by taking hold of her left hand with my right. Next, I hold up my own left hand and command every one of my construct Lanterns -save for the mammoths- to kneel. Once they're all down, I bow from the waist and persuade Aranei to do the same with a slight tug on her hand.

"Your majesty. Thank you for receiving me."
"Welll... At lleasst he hass mannerss. That'ss betterr than mosst...

Holy crap, that's an early post. Mr Zoat must have had a busy day ahead of him if he's posted this late.
As for the story, this is one of the tougher ones to step into the middle of. I've got to wonder just what he's been up to beyond what he's recapped here...

Corrections:
...a full precession is probably in order...
Not sure if correct, or 'procession' was intended...
I compel them to mark in perfect lockstep...
I compel them to march in perfect lockstep...
(I assume that's the intended term)

Have to say that Orange Light turning Daemons and other powerful spiritual beings into constructs is a great idea, would love dealing with lots of immortal/constantly reincarnating beings. Curious to see if this Paul can't fix lots of mistakes of WHF and undo lots of damage that I can't even list here.

I do wonder how he charges his ring in WHF and how he protects himself from corruption and shit.

Any Orange Ring user would last about five seconds in 40k before being corrupted by Chaos.

In fact, the only power ring users that wouldn't suffer that fate are Green, White, and Black.

Isn't Chaos the same in fantasy? You could simply say that the ring takes Warp energy and smoothes it out or that Paul's soulless status makes him a Blank or something.

Warhammer Fantasy takes place on a world in Warhammer 40k that's locked behind a warpstorm.

You can't "smooth out" warp energy.

And Blank's are a negative warp presences not a neutral one.

Hope is very specifically the Domain of Tzeentch, and Compassion is Nurgle.

Orange specifically however? That's Slaanesh. And it's quite clear this Paul has already fallen to it.

and then physically enters them
really not helping your 'phrasing' argument here, Zoat.

Should the when be what?

But it isn't until my mammoth steps into the plaza that the woman I am here to see steps out from the shadows.

No.

Pretty sure he's not having orgies with the Drukhari, but just that she's flirting with him.

Remember they have an oversexed culture so it is to be expected for her to try and fuck him, but he hasn't done it.

Everything alright Zoat? You gave me quite the surprise when this appeared so early.
Still up just past midnight.
Hmm.
Does the 40k SI have access to the Ophidian?
He doesn't know.
How would the Ophidian interact with Slaanesh?
He wouldn't.
Also, what's the best way to get into Warhammer fantasy? I've read a few fanfics set in the universe and I want get into it.
Warhammer Fantasy Battle or Warhammer Age of Sigmar? For Warhammer, I'd suggest Total Warhammer for a quick fix or all of the army books for an actual fix.
Seems like that when should be a what.
Thank you, corrected.
This requires an invite.
Modified.
o_O So early. And Warhammer Fantasy, with a fully charged Lantern?

What black sorcery from the depths of the Warp is this?
No Lantern. The world is to lousy with warp energy that it constantly recharges.
Thank you, corrected.
Not familiar with the source material, so I assume this is correct spelling for the setting?
Yes.
School? What is this... school?
It's the collective noun for a group of fish.
I think you misspelled "Gromlir," there. At least I think it was gromlir? I might be wrong.
No, but I was wrong as well.
Thank you, corrected.
2512, eh? I'm guessing from the description of his forces he either hadn't arrived early enough to oppose Tamurkhan, or didn't have the means to charge his ring that that'd require.
No idea. I don't know when that happened.

@Zoat are you a first-born?
Um. Yes?

No. He has.

Byproduct of elf hate, if I understand things right. If any of the SV hardliners saw that this Paul reformed Druuchi... Mm! So much salt.
I can understand Vanyar or Teleri hate, or even Avari hate, but why hate Noldor? Well, I can see hating on the faithless fools of the House of Finarfin. That makes sense.

I know sex isn't evil, but Paul having sex with people he has brainwashed is a bit out of character for him, even if those people are essentially a culture of psychopaths with the emotional maturity of a emotionally unstable pubescent with hormone control problems

Villains that he's rehabilitated, on the other hand, are more or less his fetish.

That, and giant talking animals with royal titles.

Too true Ganurath, too true.

Zoat are you ever going to write a version of Paul that ends up in a romantic relationship with a heroic individual instead of a rehabilitated Villain, aside from that potential future April 1st episode where we see him in a relationship with multiple people, including heroes like Superboy, M'gan, Koriandr etc.?

Speaking of weird alternate universes are you ever going to write one where the SI ends up on an abridged universe, like say YJ abridged?

Would love to see renegade trying to deal with a xenophobic Superman and deal with Darkseids Bieberfewer, also having Desaad call him 'beautiful destroyer of the pit' would be hilarious:D

Would also love to see paragon try to explain to Batman the definition of people, help Orm lose his position of bitchtit, try to help Giovanni with Nabu only to find out he's not being controlled and that Nabu is on vacation.

And them trying to deal with ALFRED:D
Those stupid boys...

Sounds like a good way to get your whole fishy clan slaughtered, drifting around Marienburg.

For reals though, school isn't a thing to my knowledge. If your not noble or burgher, you better hope your family will train you up in thier profession. The various churches provide education in house. I'm not aware of anyone out side of fringe churches providing open education.

There are universities about, but they are expensive, so burghers on up. The masses do with home schooling.

That was his argument. Her counter was to ask if she was a person with a right to self determination. He answered 'yes'. She asked if she was under probation, and if he intended to ever restore her original character. He answered 'no' and 'no'. She then asked why he was hypocritically not thinking of her new character as 'real' when it was the only one she would ever have. He said 'um'.

Marienburg has an actual middle class. He canonically went to school there.

How 'heroic' are we talking here? Rational SI is in a relationship with a villainess who rehabilitated before he met her. Yellow ring SI is in a relationship with a non-criminal.

No.

For the prophecy of demise.
Oh, for- The man's lore knowledge clearly isn't as in-depth as the people on the Divided Loyalties and/or Drunken Dynasties Quest threads. CITATION!
Excerpt from The Prophecy of Demise said:
"And lo, he shall rule with a dark hand and his shadow shall touch upon every land. Steel will be his skin and fire will be his blood, in hatred will he conquer all before him. No blade forged of Man, Dwarf or Elf shall endure him fear. Though will it come to pass that the firstborn son of noble blood shall rise to power. The child will be learned in the darkest arts and he will raise an army of terrible beasts. Thus will the Dark King fall, slain by neither blade nor arrow but by a sorcerous power of darkest magic and so shall his body be consumed in the flames and for all eternity burn."
Long story short, there's this big ass poem that says how all the elves are going to die, and Malekith thinks that this part is about him, what with his being a blood descendant of the original Phoenix King and his body being encased in steel.

In a relationship with a superhero who has never commited any crimes is how i would describe 'heroic'
So any alternate like that?

And just to make sure we are going to see the yellow lantern SI and the diffrent color enlightenment SI in this episode?

Can you give us any hints of what the universe the yellow one will be in?

Man, even I know that they're not going that route anymore, and my exposure to Warhammer Fantasy is basically listening to a stream of two people playing the total war game set in at as background noise.
