With This Ring (Young Justice SI) (Thread Fourteen)

And the vote having to be legal was one of Orange Lanterns qualifiers.
I don't think it was?

"What if a world in the Thanagarian Empire wants to be ruled by me?"

"Contact me. I will visit and arrange a plebiscite. You'll need a clear majority, and in the case of worlds with a non-thanagarian population they'll need to be involved as well."
All he says is clear majority, and actually he specifies the non-thanagarians need to vote too (aka the lizardkons).

"You may have noticed that my thanagarian followers aren't here."

"They're attacking the Thanagarian Empire?"

"Something like that. Acquiring a new colony, since Alstair isn't ideal for them and I'm no longer limited to this system."

"As long as they're finished when you sign the treaty, that's fine."
Here he makes it even more explicit, as long as she's done before it's signed she's fine.

Don't let it bother you, it being the piss poor reading comprehension of other people.

So if I understand correctly...

Hyathis just took over the low population planet by importing a outside population and having the new majority vote to join her.

The planet happens to have the new source of nth metal.

The Empire just signed a treaty that they wouldn't contest stuff she manages to get to join her.

...

Yikes.
Nearly. The Thanagarian Empire imported the population and trained them as soldiers with the intent of having them be the force occupying Antares.

To quote Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer: "Did you forget that I hate you?"

A plebiscite is a direct universal vote.

As the Thanagarian natives did not know the vote was taking place it was not a universal vote.

That makes it even more amusing that things have blown up in the face of the Thanagarian Empire so badly. Will we be seeing an omake from someone else's POV to underline how bad things have gotten for them?

[You didn't ask where they put Vulcan's-]

N-oooo.

[-new foundry, did you?]
The fact it wasn't right outside their capital city means they were trying to hide it and have no one but themselves to blame.

Not certain where Vulcan stands on the "Why would god need a starship?" issue, but I suspect Hyathis could not compel his service by force. She gets to make him an offer but can always say no.

Eh, there might have been local features that made that planet better... But sending oppressed conscripts there in numbers that high, when Hyathis can clearly get there faster than news can get out? Yeah, some of that might just be how things go... But all of it together seems to betray a certain carelessness.

It's been so long since he's shown up I can't even remember the specifics, does he even have a reason not to just relocate and keep working for Thanagar?

[As far as I can tell? Yes.]
"Any thoughts

Add a space between the two sentences.

The others bad them.

Orange Lantern better not let them get away with this.

Especially since the Lizardos not being citizens of the planet means the "vote" is meaningless.

Yeah, who gives a rats ass about the mistreated second class citizens that have little prospects with their Thanagarian overlords in charge.

Why, Paul should just abandon them to their miserable fate, like he did with the Tamaraneans.

Oh wait, he actually helped them.

He left Earth to try something new. He has no loyalty to Thanagar at all and was happy simply making Nth metal for the challenge of doing so. The fact that the ones who'll be buying it from him is someone else now doesn't matter to him whatsoever.

I think you've misunderstood the chapter. The Thanagarian army in the system Paul was in didn't know it was taking place, there's nothing about the Thanagarians local to the planet not being able to vote or not knowing about it. They were just outnumbered.
