Sneaking His Way into the Multiverse (RWBY Jaune, WC-lite mechanics)

That was an awesome arc, I'm curious if they do mass effect 2 and the portal is anchored in the Normandy SR 2 who in the crew could be charmed into Joining the Journey, if tattletale and Mordon solus will sing Gilbert and Sullivan together. What would the semblance of each member of the Normandy crew be and if Jaune can learn more about leading from Shepard.

So if an event lasted weeks they would stick around in a setting for weeks.
Like Fate Merlin?
Did the Outsider have any interaction with Lisa or her shard?
And what if anything would the Outsider think of Lisa's patron?
Yup.
I'm not familiar with the nitty-gritty of Nasuverse, but probably. It's a trope seen quite a few times with long-lived and disconnected beings in fiction.
They have not interacted yet.
If I write it? Unbridled curiosity, followed by amusement and a mild derision at the futility of what the shards and entities are about, considering the concept of the Void as he knows it is where everything came from and is in the process of pulling everything back into itself, a la heat death of the universe. To him, an end to it all for a universe is inevitable, and a restart afterward all too possible, making everything these other beings do pointless. Also, that they are far too interfering. The key to a good show for him is to see what people choose to do, rather than influencing them every step of the way to make certain decisions.

@LazyAutumnMoon, I'll try and expand on this review later but for now just wanted to say that this has cemented itself as one of the top fics on this site and in general. My nightmare is that it won't have an ending. But yeah. The novelty, premise, characterizations, characters, writing… I just really love it.
I'm happy you think so, and I hope to keep at this as circumstances allow, enough to get to the ending. It'd be...a while.

I would guess that it's harder for anyone there to take the offer, since they'd have a host of reasons to stay. Camaraderie with the other people on the ship, their various causes/traumas/unresolved businesses, the main plot that they were recruited into. I might say Jack, depending on the point in her story, as she might want to just get a definite escape from any number of people that are after her, but on the other hand she'd definitely ditch the group the moment they get to the next world, barring some very compelling reasons not to.
...I think I would very much enjoy writing that scene with a singing Tattletale and Mordon Solus.

Well, I'm coming into this too late to change anything, but Tattletale is definitely the worst thing that could have happened to Jaune.

Understandable. Tattletales aren't for everyone.

It helps when you don't think of her as the worst thing that could have happened to Jaune, but as the worst thing that could have happened to Jaune, so far.
See, not so bad now, is she? Downright cute, really.

Since we're going into a new arc I have an idea for one of the names on the list they could jump to. https://youtu.be/hJ9UUnYybfw?si=HimpIoOfHO0_wkvI

The sene from invincible where Omni man is counter invading the flaxen planet. The Flaxen are a crazy advanced sci-fi civilization so there's probably a high loot rating but I'm pretty sure omniman is significantly stronger then Leviathan and would make the threat rating similarly balloon out of the teams ability to handle it.

Well, if we're throwing names into the ring then I wanna say Danmachi, or maybe Final Fantasy 7? Both would be pretty fun and Materias would prolly be worth quite a bit.

EDIT : ooh, or maybe Elden Ring? Or any of the Souls game really, that would be a trip and a half for Brattletale.

If they are going to pickup odd stowaways like Lisa's Shard and the Outsider they should definitely visit Bloodborne. Great Ones will surely have great sympathy with him.
Edit.autocorrupt

I'm not sure Shard-chan and the Outsider are 'stowaways' as much as superpower service providers/reality tv audience.
They are both Eldritch Abominations empowering their respective "champions" in exchange for letting them observe new universes.
Great Ones can do that too via contracts or bestowal of insight/runes. And they munch Blood Stone Shards fried in Whale Oil while watching together

Ok. So I did some research and Omni-man apparently spent years killing Flaxans in their dimension. When you watch the show it looks like he just blitz them in Lille five minutes and then spends the remaining time torturing them into building a way back. He apparently took his time as invisible immortal avatars of destruction are prone to do. So this event is probably off the table for the foreseeable future.

Could probably have it on the list just to fill it out when there going through it.

I like the idea of eldrich entities laterally hitching a ride on this multiverse hoping adventure like its a school bus trip around the country. Jaune being the involuntary bus driver while the Entities are planting their face on the windows going Uuuuwww~ Wooaahhh~ like kindergarten kids will never leave my head.

If Jaune gets placed in danger, one or multiple of them would intervene because this best bus trip ever is not gonna end yet, not on their watch.

This story is like a stinging nettle to me. The writing is skilled and high quality, the characterization is well done, the action is engrossing and draws you in. Yet I cannot stand stupid protagonists. Goku was annoying, Naruto made me want to reach into the screen to smack the stupid out of him, and Luffy made me want to find the creator and interrogate him to determine what demon of stupidity possessed him to create such a character. Your Jaune is a mix of competence and stupid that is plausible, engaging, and terribly annoying. So caught up in doing the good thing he inevitably fails when he abandons the right thing to do the moral thing. And I have seen that so many times in the real world, where somebody fails at their goals at the finish line because they stop to do something they think as good that will sabotage all their progress and cause them great pain.

I think its great that Jaune is stupid as is Tattletale. The flaws, mistakes and fuck ups make sense in that they are teens thrown into situations most wouldn't dare hope to be in or even survive if they didn't have powers early on to help them. Even they could fall short due to inexperience, ill-preparedness, arrogance etc. It makes them believable and to be honest, I am so tired of CYOA, Multiverse jumps and Self-Inserts that immediately makes the MC or SI super competent bordering Matt Wards Ultramarine plot armor levels of absurdity.

Give me struggle, give me pains, give me MCs that crawl, claw, bite, bark and rage for that power up they desperately need.

No shortcuts, omniscience or bullshit plot armor. We fight or die like men.

There's a difference between struggle and stupidity. The fact that so many people do not seem to recognize that difference says that many people have never truly struggled. Jaune here struggles and does so competently he shows that he has determination and can succeed. The problem is that after being largely successful he self sabotages right before success invalidating his successes. And he does so in a way that does not show struggling against overwhelming odds, it shows utter lack of self-discipline and ability to sacrifice immediate moral gratification for long term goals. Some of what he does can be put down to being a teenager but a great deal is just abject stupidity on a level that should have been beaten out of him during his early life given the dangers of Remnant. Tattletale isn't stupidity, it's having a toxic horrid personality determined to self destruct.

It was stated that he is no hero, but a fool. Time and again by the multiverse (author), Armsmaster and even the Outsider. It his thing. If we go by the deck of tarots, the card of the fool best encompasses Jaune and his situation right now. He and by extension Tattletale are at the beginnings of their Journey, where everything ahead will be new, foreign and unknown. They will make mistakes, lots of stupid mistakes but they will eventually learn, adapt and overcome.

Which makes all the clusterfuck dumb as shit choices and actions they've done so far all the more entertaining, at least for me. The Outsider himself tears into Jaune but is just as invested in watching what would unfold. Good or Bad, Fortune or Ill, Victory or Defeat. These ups and downs keeps things interesting.

Edit: Plus there is the eventual payoff of seeing them be stronger, wiser, smarter and tougher because of those stupid choices. They will look back and realize: "Holy Shit that was dumb. Let's not do that again.... or maybe do better.... or how do we prevent that from repeating etc" There would basis for their growth, proof of their change, validation of their betterment because of these slip ups. I don't mind if they do get things right the first time, but if it's far too many times it starts to get predictable. :/

This is I think the biggest difference between us. I have no desire to watch a fool bumble through the universe screwing up. Fools aren't protagonists, they are to be mocked by everyone and suffer horrible fates as a result of their foolishness as a lesson not to be a fool. Fools simply aren't worth reading about. Or writing about, to be worth writing about a character has to be better than just a normal person, otherwise they're not worth reading. Ordinary people live ordinary lives, I have one of my own I don't need to read about fictional ones. To be worth reading about they have to be capable of more than being ordinary let alone a fool.

I really can't see why you think every and all actions done by Jaune and Tats are stupid or foolish. Some of them are yes but the way their Dishonored run ended was a success. They got their loot, weapons, potions, currency, towels, food and a power [Third Arm]. That run was a success compared to the previous one. Not every protagonists has to be heroic, perfect, capable, strong and whole myriad of positives. They can be villainous, flawed, small, weak and even dumb.

Icarus was a fool that flew too close to the sun and fell to his death. But he is a fool remembered for daring to do what others could not and would not. Fools are everywhere in history, Magellan and Columbus were mocked as a fools for sailing at the edges of the world, only to find new horizons and frontiers. There were people that made fun of the Wright Brothers, Langley and the Stanley brothers until their works helped pave the way to the building blocks of Modern Aviation. Freaking Hell a few years ago a lot of folks were making jokes about Elon Musk and SpaceX yet here we are watching as they innovate like crazy by creating reusable and catchable Rockets that has made NASA and other space agencies tent up in their pants.

Fools push the boundaries, they go all in to test the limits, they fall head first into cliffs, feet first into danger. They are the pioneers who take the first steps on the path never taken, paving the way for those brave, daring and foolish enough to follow to places, wonders and nightmares that remain undiscovered. So yeah, give me fools to watch and witness, for theirs is a story worth adoring.... or a warning worth heeding.

I did actually enjoy your review, as you were on point in capturing a part of Jaune as he is now. He simply isn't ready for the situation that he is put in. But,
It was stated that he is no hero, but a fool. Time and again by the multiverse (author), Armsmaster and even the Outsider. It his thing. as Desu-vult perfectly encapsulated, this is the beginning chapters of this journey, and it is a story told time and again in both the west and the east, whether fantasy novels or anime, that young men and women would venture forth into the unknown; they learn, they persevere, they find their place in the world. And nobody gets it right the first time. Nobody wins it all. That's how adventures go.

Except the Mary Sues. Oddly enough, the stories about people who are simply better than us tend to flop instantly.
And,
Then, this clearly isn't the right thread for you and you should look for something else to read or wait for the author to produce something you'd like to read.
as croaker said, it might just not be your type of story. I do, however, enjoy the sort of take you have, because you understand the why of the characters when you criticize them, recognizing that Jaune and Tattletale are flawed people, and instead of demanding that I make them perfect in the narrative, you just state that you don't like them. It's honest, and not condescending.

Thank you to all three of you for your thoughts.

I randomly came up with a team name for Jaune and Tattletale JT (Jaunt).
I like it, but I think Tattletale would argue for TA, short for team Tattletale.
And Jaune would point out to the girl what else those letters can stand for, to give us an embarrassed, red-faced Tattletale.

In other news, next chapter within a week. Ducking out of my sister's wedding to type this. Someone in the thread got the destination right.
